I own this guitar. It does sound exactly like a Gibson. And the tuning tech is brilliant. by the way, I've been playing for 10 years so I do know how to tune a guitar. but I prefer not to spend time fucking around tuning my guitar manually. I prefer to get straight to the playing part. So the robot technology is great for me.

The Dark Fire is simply Les Paul BFG with the options of the Les Paul Robot Guitar.

If you still think this, you have not read enough about the instrument yet.

The self-tuning option is just a nice toy in comparison with the built in EQ setups, the 3 different sorts of pickups, the possibility of direct digital output...

Suggest to get better informed about it or even play it.

You'd fall in love with it i guess. ;)

I don't think it's a bad guitar, but the way it's built. It's so much like the BFG. I mean the pickups are different, but the combination is the same, a humbucker in bridge position and a P-90 at neck position, but it hasn't got killswitch. Also on the Gibson site it says "Discover The World's Most Powerful Guitar" which was also said for the BFG. So in my opinion it's a some kind of BFG's heir, but with a lot more expensive price, because of the Robot Feature.

i'm sitting in europe and i've ordered one by a shop in my homecountry

the first run was sold out long before the release

and now with the second run i had also problems to get one

best will be, you ask some shops or gibson themselves whether there will be another run or if there is any DF orders cancelled

as an alternative, i suggest to try ebay or some second-hand-forums - or waiting for the next level of innovation ;-)

amen to that. pickups are one thing, but the auto tuners are a bit over the top. they are a great innovation and i could see some uses, but thats why playing guitar is an art and not a trade because of stuff like tuning it by ear or adjusting things the way you want it.

Obviously their robot guitars are not geared toward beginners who do not know how to tune a guitar. If you play songs in different tunings, it would make it a lot easier to turn a knob and strum the strings than switching guitars.
