i never get why people complain about the shadows in this game, they are not that bad. sometimes yeah, they are pretty choppy but i use a 50" plasma 5 feet from my face, i notice small imperfections in all games. and aside from this game being one of only about 4 or 5 games rendered in full 1080p these shadows (even the worst looking ones) are sharper than games like modern warfare2 and black ops. nobody complains about those ones... i should make a video showing this, cause nobody believes me..

@Mikefrusciante It's because in prologue, the lighting and shadow engine was only focused on the cars.... In gt5, It shades and lights everything.. This has led to comparatively low resolution shadows on the cars. The otherwise great looking smoke also has a rather low rez cut off look .I too was pissed about this at first... But then I saw my first in game sunset... The light peering through the trees, realistically illuminating the smoke and whatnot. And the weather!.. It's awesome.

@rocknrollmetal93 Agaian I'm using resolution as a general term. If all the cars are together at once you get slowdown. It happens in almost every game. The track isn't fully rendered 100%. Only the part you see is being rendered in full time.

@rocknrollmetal93 Project Gotham 3 works well at 30fps. I also never said anything about pixels on the screen. I meant full resolution as a general term as far as polycount, texture size, resolution, reflection and shadow details. The further a car away is, the less the game has to draw on it.

@rocknrollmetal93 and even then not all 16 cars are drawn in full resolution at once. Nascar Racing 2003 season did a good job with this. They only showed as much as you needed to see. While sure there are 43 cars on the track, only about 10 at a time are being drawn in full detail while the others fall back into low res/low detail mode to make the game run at 60fps. Also 60fps is another bullshit number. Most games look just as good at 30fps because our eyes aren't fast enough to tell.

Textures can be placed on non-solid objects in the distance, Those are not made of polygons. All of these devs boasting about polygons are just spewing bullshit. Bigger numbers sound better. Right now, GT5 is doing nothing that PGR3 could have done 5 years ago with the exception of 16 cars on the track.

Shading can be paired with textures to create the illusion of more detail where the is none. I never said polygons were 3d objects there are a vector object on a 2d plane built up to represent a 3d object. I'm saying 200-500k polygons is enough. There is no need for more when you can just use bump mapping.

Also the cars in GT5 are made up of 200,000 to 500,000 polygons which is about the same as any other racing game this gen. What makes GT5 look so good is the shading engine, not poly count. Also a console can be pushed far passed it's designed limits through efficient programming. Just look at Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2.

Flawed rendering does not mean shitty graphics. How a game looks is nowadays is entirely opinion. And the game is not cell shaded so it cannot be cartoony. The shader engine is flawed a messes with the colors. You have proved nothing in your defense with the mentality "it is better because I say so".

iv playd forza 3 nd gt5 and can honestly say that forza is the better game. I like the way u feel the car on the bumps in gt5 but the handling and way game feels is shit and not even like a sim, car feels more like a brick wen ur driving and that stupid skid sound in all the grasn turismo games. Fortza is amazin the gfx r class the cars feel good just the way a car should feel and 10x more enjoyable game to play.  GFX r neck n neck imo.
