@nfajardom Thank you, but I know that one. The one I was wondering about is the very very beginning of the movie where it is nothing showing on the screen, it's just a black screen, and then it goes into Also Sprach Zarathustra. Would you happen to know that one?
In the undulating bowels of the nether regions unbeknownst to the most seasoned and knowledgable souls mankind had offered up to what lies beyond even God himself could not understand, for upon the septillionth year of the universe having wrought for what was onCE A SANE CREATURE OF BEING PASSED UNTO AFTERLIFE AND SPREAD TO PURE EVIL LIVES AGAIN for the pure horror that led beneath, I speak now, to you all, and open one of my six mouths letting loose the noises of Hell itself.
I would love to hear this piece performed in a concert hall. I would have to remind myself to breathe though, engrossing music like this makes me forget such things :)
this piece of music so should be a Dead Space game. Can you image Isaac walking up to a marker with this in the background. Jeez, that would send a chill down my spine.
It's captivating in its dissonance, but it's not the scariest music ever made. I find Penderecki's stuff (at least the "Threnody" and the "St Luke's Passion") to be much scarier. Which is why I love them.
This is the scariest music ever made, it sounds like what hell probably would sound like. If I was in prison, I would play this on my radio so others would stay away from me, lol.
It's sort of funny to read "No description available". Indeed. When my friends ask me to give a description of the movie, I have the same thought. How can you describe more than 4 million years of evolution? This movie makes it brilliantly. Thanks for sharing this.
Gyorgy Ligeti is a master at making unsettling music. I believe this was a requiem for Europe (after WWII) but it is very creepy if you've never heard it before. Kubrik obviously saw the mood potential in it to set the tone for his films.
I'm closing in on 50. My dad took me to see this movie when I was about 7 years old, and I have loved it since that time. But....this melody always makes me think of a swarm of bees.
Is this really a melody? =)

Does anybody know where I can find the song at the very beginning of the movie, where it is just a black screen with a sort of mysterious music?

@MrHellboy2fan Atmospheres, by György Ligeti.

@MrHellboy2fan This may come a bit late, but the "mysterious" music most probably isn't Also Sprach Zarathustra, but György Ligeti's "Atmospherès".

The chanting in Legend of Zelda: OOT's Fire Temple (before they changed it) sounds like parts of this, although less scary.

This song is very haunting. Sounds like a choir of space ghosts singing.
