believe whatever marketing hype you want .. the vw/audi group has year after year built cars that were nightmares . they can look good and perform good , but as far as being reliable ...please
I love hondas but i think there are over rated. the transmissions, window motors and iac sensors tend to always go bad. Nissan's need to be driven into trees because they have horrible timing chain problems that the manufacturer refuses to acknowledge. Toyota - well now you have a reliable car. I have owned/driven regularly 7 different toyotas that have never given me a single problem
My brand new Ford Fiesta turned into a transformer ! The fucking thing accelerated as fast as it fucking could and dare not turn off the ignition because the power steering is electric not oil pressured, knocking it out of gear only made it hit the rev' limiter. So when the roads in front and rear was clear i went into the middle of the road and knocked off the end whilst still in gear, car came to a hault within 20 metres. This all happened within 1 minute. WANK FORDS !
my brothers diesel mazda bravo is 5 years old and needed the engine rebuilt for $5000. Months later he was up for $1800 to have it road worthy for rego
I´m sorry but i HAVE to disagree with moretraffic1 and others:
Of course, a car will last longer the better you treat it, no doubt.
BUT there are cars that are like friends: It´s not about how often you buy them something nice but about how nice time is, when you can´t!
My 306 XR lasted FOREVER although it had NO oil or cooling in it when i got it and i never changed that! I always drove it into reserve (and beyond a few times!), never serviced it and raced it like hell...it was LOVE! Seriously!
its all about how you treat a car, if you drive 1 mile at 2000 revs and then drive the same mile at 4000 revs you will be doing a lot more damage to the car, plus it may still say you've done 1 mile but really you will have done 2 miles at 2000 revs if you know what i mean. Keep the car in good condition, service it every half a year, never drive on a empty tank so you dont suck up all that grit in your engine, and never rev it loads, if you do all that your car will last a lot longer
Fiats are reliable, they are really solid cars mechanically, ive had 3 of them and they never ever let me down plus they where old and one of them had over 120,000 miles, electrically however they can let you down. If a fiat breaks down 9 times out of 10 it will be an electrical fault not a mechanical fault.
I do have friends that own FIATs and they're generally reliable. Anyway, FIATs are usually compared to more expensive cars, so... I suppose there are trade offs in reliability. If you want something to last forever buy an old Mercedes or a Toyota. They won't be cheap though. The Mercedes 190D still sells for 3000€. I bought my Alfa Romeo 164 for 1000€.
@mouloudo I have a Citroen van in the job. It's been abused for 17 years. No repair EVER. Better, we had this Toyota Dyna truck. No repair in THIRTY YEARS.
Japanese cars are usually reliable. But the Citroen... surprises me every day, and I love that.
@xXGreyWolf well 'im italian, so fiat puntos, pandas etc it's really sold here, but they are a bit expensive like the 500 the stock very cheap model it costs 12k€ with 3k€ less you can buy a yaris that it's... pretty much the same car but cheaper, so the punto are very nice but if i can choose i should get a better car, not a fiat then, think about alfa romeo mito or giulietta but don't trust much on a punto, if you want a fiat buy a bravo 1.9 multijet turbo
Yes they are, my sister has had two of them, and they are all shit. when they are new the first three years you wont have any problems with it. but after three years they are shit.
*Fuck all this. I'm STILL trying to figure out if the 2010 Camaro V6 or V8 will push out like 200,000 miles or so. I need something with personality, and it's own rare balls. Unfortunately Honda & Toyota dont do it for me, even though they are top of the class.
Honda is reliable as hell. It's the companies that sell the most cars with tops in reliability that are impressive because the more cars built the more potential problems or more thingsw that could go worng
Why everybody is instantly laughing after he said Fiat lol? i have a ford the first 3years great after that its a junk !! How about german cars BMW,AUDI...?
What do they laugh about? I don't think this charts have a meaning. Let's take Toyota as example: they have the reputation of reliable cars, but now we discover that they have problems with throttle and brakes, and also Ford says that its hybrids have brake problems. Do you still trust in Top Gear's charts?
ford partially owns mazda. fords on top. our 92 taurus has never broken down either. only difference is your full of crap. american cars are made best. the big three!
@anthonyledo lol, i know mechanics that all say japanese cars are better built than any other cars. I still have the same timing belt since it cam out of the factory.
and you probably have like half a mile on your odemeter. there are million mile american vehicles. show me just one million mile toyota or do not waste my time in a reply unless you can do this request. americans have many. with no rebuilds or replacements. google dougs miilion mile van. his belt last him 500,000 miles before replacement. not a big deal.
@anthonyledo It has been prooven that japanese cars are the most reliable how long can any american car last with the pedal all the way on the floor revving it, my friends nissan lasted half an hour with the pedal all the way down the engine was a SR20DET
@anthonyledo I dont need any proof, can an american car get 204hp out of a N/A 2.0l 4 cylinder engine, I didnt think so, because you do not know anything about cars.
do you remember rally racing in the 80's? some escorts had over 600hp. this was when the sport was at the most extreme. was to dangerous, so limmits were set. rally racing has never been what it was during that era.
the ford pinto... with the 2.3l introduced in 1974 was capable of outputting enough power to match a 5L V8. so your not really impressing me with your 204 hp lawnmower.
as i said, you only pretend to know somthing. old achievement buddy. keep trying.
futhermore the 2.3 was one of the most greatly used 4clynder engines ever. far more reliable than any jap crap engine. it was used in a wide variety of things. vehicles, heavy machinery, marine aplication etc. no japanese 4cyl engine has ever been more widely used. you fail. please dont waste anymore of time. if you wish to argue more. send personal message. i dont like making so many posts. it makes us look like assholes.
@anthonyledo SR20DET can go handle way more than 800hp and it is a 2.0l engine, i think some person got it to 1200hp and the RB26DETT can handle 1900hp from a 2.6lhp so which engine is the lawnmower now.
look up the plastic engine. was also used in rally racing. very reliable 4cyl, stock with 318 hp. plus that was like 30 years ago. then they were moded. this one was based on the pinto's engine. not even designed for high performance. work on that and im sure you could match it.
4 will never beat 8. now 4cylinders are much more expensive to modify. so you put 20+ thousand in your 4 banger. ill put a few hundred in my v8. now another difference is you 4 banger can not handle that much horse power and is ready to blow up before 1 race.
gotta admit, i live in Australia, and my friend has to like 30-40 year old fiats, one is really nice condition and the other one looks like the biggest bomb, the 'bomb' is amazing, it actually still runs, bit smokey though...
