Why does he say theres no such thing as the Korean War? If its 1977 there, the war would have happened over 20 years prior. Was he just guessing or what?
@Jonesdude666 "u mad bro" "did u never watch lost?"... Your first reply is hostile, yet he showed no hostility towards you, or anyone else. And your second reply is patronising. An example of you exercising power over the guy because his knowledge of a TV show isn't perfect.
You had no motivation to act with hostility other than your own ego. So, as I said before, you seem like a douche.
Oh, by the way, I don't seem like a douche, because I had a reason to call you one.
@radman9000 Hurley isn't very educated on history, and when they got stuck in the past, there is another scene where he's telling Jack, I believe, that what if someone asks him who the president of the United States is. Sure enough after being told to calm down, he gets asked sometime later.
@radman9000 There's also the fact that the guy clearly just indicated the fact that the Korean war was a thing and then Hurley proceeded to not understand the cue at all and made some random thing up that made no sense.
What you were supposed to take away from the scene is that Hurley is comically stupid.
I like how here, people are trying to deny coming from the future, when in most cercumstances, people are trying to convince others that they ARE from the future.
@Jonesdude666 Its clearly 5th season near the end. Probably 15th episode.Let me check.... 16th minute and 15 seconds from the start of the 15 episode.
@Starwarsnerdgeek PFFFT no.... I watched Lost because there was supposed to be a badass monster on the island. But then it was smoke and some stupid crap happened and the whole thing is shit.
Me personally think the scene where Locke is in Jacobs Shack and Ben and Hurley are sitting outside the Shack. Hurley takes out a candy bar and looks at Ben the breaks it in half and gives a piece to Ben, they both start munching. It was the most pointless and funny scene ever. The whole time there was no talking.
@TheOne4471 The best thing about this show was that it never took itself too seriously. Scenes like that, the characters pointing out plot absurdities, the misdirection when we think something serious is going down between Locke & Sawyer, but it turns out when the camera cuts that they're just playing a board game- that was my favorite funny Lost scene.
but they couldn't do an end that answers all questions, there was to much involved confusing things,
and with this end there are things that we can think and talk about and lost will be always a theme and if we would know everything then...we would know everything!
@RussianMuffinMonster they should have thought about the solution to the mysteries they created .... It's like telling a joke without a punchline ... no fun at all
@Jonesdude666 The punchline's there, it's just not making itself known right away. It's a joke that needs thought to understand. What mysteries went unresolved? Numbers, pregnancy issues, polar bears, DHARMA Initiative - all answered. The island's origins even become clear upon careful scrutiny.
@Jonesdude666 The thing about Lost is, and what sets it apart from most other shows like it (and there aren't many), is that it doesn't need to answer everything. Anything weird that happened in the show was solely for the purpose of developing the characters and letting the viewers see how they react to certain situations, whether the situations be completely crazy or not. The series was character driven, not story driven, and I think Lost is really the only show that truly pulled that off.
@5000joecool I completely disagree ... Granted, Lost was also bout the characters, but the mysteries have always been the real deal. That was what ppl got addicted to that show. Cuz the story was just so frakking innovative and just kept on getting better and better. Some mysteries got solved and new, even better, ones kept emerging.
If ur theory, that Lost was basically character driven and not all about the mysteries, is correct, then why do si many ppl bitch about the ending?
@Jonesdude666 See, the mysteries are the things that got the general public interested; the ones who grab some popcorn and sit down to watch it really not appreciating much except the big reveals and the shoot-out scenes. But the people that Lost was really aimed at; the deep thinkers, the philosophers, the viewers who THINK about the show, not the ones who just WATCH it; we all understood how much the show revolved around the characters and the fantastic ever-growing depth for each one of them.
@5000joecool Sorry, but I just reject the premise that a show can invent crazy stuff and make up mysteries without solving them. Did the producers go like: "Well thats downright crazy and we'll never be able to answer it, but frak that ... it helps this or that character develop."
Even a character driven series can't completely neglect the story. But that what's happened with the ending. I mean how did the Island work? Magic or sumthin? What a load of Bull!
@Jonesdude666 What I assumed the writers wanted the smart people to think was that all this, everything the Island threw at the characters, was purely supernatural. Everything that happened to them, we say was the Island working it's magic, bringing them closer and closer together. So really that's the only explanation. The Island, and the supernatural things it represented, did all this for the sake of ultimately bringing the characters to the realization that they are all meant for each other.
@5000joecool metaphores suck. I want an explanation like the producers promised during the 1st season. Without one I consider the show incomplete.
I just don't accept ur premise that only a selected few really understood that the series was supposedly about the characters and the rest doesn't matter....
But thats up to every one to decide for himself ....
@Jonesdude666 Exactly. To each their own explanation. And I think that the producers put in well enough mass appeal for people who weren't exactly the most sophisticated of viewers. (shoot-out scenes, sex scenes, explosions, fight scenes)
@Jonesdude666 Good idea :P And yes, every single thing about Lost I loved. Except that one episode where Sun loses her wedding ring. I practically fell asleep.
Unbelievably they ended the show with more closure than I have anticipated. Closure for the characters that is. The island and Jacob were never explained fully. In effect with the final scene we found out that ALL the characters had been killed off. So no spin offs possible - wouldn't work.
@BurnMyEyes0107 U forgot that some of the characters were still alive when Jack died... in the end they all died, but that was possibly a gazillion years in the future when they met in the church ....
So there is still stuff left to form a good story with .... I mean Hurley isn't "King" of the Island for shits and giggles ... theres gotta be sumthin he oughta do ... watch lost epilog. Some of the characters, that are still alive, go back to the island.
@nicorigo they should start the new season with hurley as the 'island-protector' and some new question and answers some of the old and start this season as something new, that you dont have to see the seasons before.
It would be good for the production-people to make money, so it's a reason and a way to make some new seasons!!! (and if someone gives me the money I would write this seasons(:)
@Jonesdude666 but they couldn't do an end that answers all questions, there was to much involved confusing things,
and with this end there are things that we can think and talk about and lost will be always a theme and if we would know everything then...we would know everything!
the way he says . yeah, then quickly ' yes i am ' .... HAHAHAH fucking idiot hurley! i love him, he was the perfect protector of the island, i would of love to have seen some of his adventures in his 10 billion year reign LOL
The funniest scene in my opinion was when they first found the Dharma van in the jungle and Hurley said something like "come on, we gotta move it!" then sawyer was like "Easy there, Jumbo Tron!" and then Hurley was like "Hey, shut up, Red... Neck.... MAN!" "Touche." LMAOOO i was dying :D
I also loved that scene when he hears some noise in the jungle and picks up a gun and says something like "I got a gun and i totally know how to use it"
@mgm546 Yeah this clip is kinda pointless without another clip from another episode. When Hurley gets to the past for the first time, he says "what if people ask me questions, like who is the president in 1977?" and I think the ghost whisperer guy (don't remember his name) says that it's not a quiz show and people aren't gonna ask you those questions. But then this happens :P
jonesdude666, you nailed it. I've recently seen the whole series and I said just that about that very scene. thanks for posting it. MetalTala, yeah, previously, Sawyer had told Hugo that it wouldn't be a 'gameshow'. Meaning that nobody would ask him about u.s. presidents. James couldn't have been more wrong. : )
Lost was good until they started getting free food.

@fudgiepop The official website still has the earlier episodes, but you'll have to buy the later seasons.

jonesdude666, you nailed it. : )
limafilho27 1 year ago
lol it was funny cos hurley said "who was the president in 1977" and they just said theyre not gonna ask you questions
