Hello David, just wanted to say Hi and let you know I still have the Beyond the Emerant Lea CD and truly enjoy most of the the songs. take care, - RobRoy
Great sound from a relatively small guitar. Wonderful resonance and balance from all strings. Although I am from NI I have not really considered Lowden as a choice of guitar. I have always hankered after Collings instead. Listening to this and other S35 models perhaps I should reconsider.
@syncopater999 - I realise it's 5 years now I have had this. I kept considering selling it, because of worries about playing such an expensive guitar for gigs and sessions. But now I only play this one. It's got better as I have learned how to pick the right tension and type of strings, too.
Ziricote/cedar. This guitar is the first ziricote small body made by the new workshop (in 2005), it was also the first cutaway S and the first attempt to make a ziricote cutaway - George had to use two sets of ribs before learning how to bend ziricote into the very small cutaway radius. It may be unique. The Richard Thomson signature model is similar, but in F size. My guitar also has a fingerstyle neck with wide bridge spacing and the extension over the sound hole.
Eden Water was recorded 12 years ago on a Martin D18 with some analogue effects and a 4-track tape as well as CGDEAD tuning. I've tried it on other guitars but never managed to get the same sustain on hammered notes with such slack strings. I don't have that guitar any more. Maybe one day I'll get a guitar which works!
Not my lens. Nikon UK review sample lens for photo magazine use. Anyway, no intention to test the lens, this test is for the sound recording.
