I took my cockapoo to a so called "groomer" at the HUMANE SOCIETY because it was cheaper and he had nips on his skin where they cut him. I previously went to PetSmart, they never took him out to go pee/poop because he would shake all over in fear and as soon as we got on the grass he used the bathroom what seemed like forever. He was also very thirsty every time we came to pick him up. I just don't know who to trust or where to take him anymore!
Pet Smart does the best at grooming my dogs. The local groomer's butched my dog and hurt him, the professionals at Pet Smart really cared for my dog and were very professional. The local groomers seemed to be high school drop outs with possible drug problems Pet Smart must have understood this and decide to improve the service that they give to our pets.....THANKS PET SMART!
pet smart academy trained !!!!! BULLSHIT! a manager asked me if i wated a job grooming cause i own my own mobile dog grooming business he saw my truck, the groomers goto a class for 1 to 2 weeks! i on the other hand went for 1 year 5 days a week TO A GROOMING SCHOOL . DONT BE FOOLED BY PET SMARTS ACADEMY TRAINED CAUSE ITS A LIE !!!
@obamasuckss yes you are so true i worked there as a bather, and my cousin was asked to do a practicle on his afgan and a toy poodle, no schooling nothing!! all he did was shave his afgan!! looked horrible!! but hey thats petsmart for you, not to mentin they hired on a lady who punches dogs in the chest cause they dont cooperate! also sliced a eye lid so yea dont buy the shit you see here, you would be amazed as to what really goes on behind those doors
my dog Rex i took him to a petsmart groomer for his spring/summer trim he was a very sweet dog very happy loved people when we went to go pick him up he was shaking and the tip of his tail was bleeding very bad, he was fearful and unhappy. then i took him to a local groomer he came out very happy the same old dog
We dont have a PetSmart in Australia but what I have been hearing isnt good and would make me steer away from it if it ever came to Australia.I cant help it, i just couldnt find it in myself to take my dogs to it. I most trust the veterinary grooming salon or the one down the road from my place. I have a fond relationship with both the owners of that department but also have volunteered in both just as a basic groomer.
PET SMART I HATE THEM NOW THEY TREAT ANNIMALS HORRIBLY!!!!!!!!! AFTER SEEING A VIDEO ABOUT WHAT THEY DO BEFORE THEY GET THEM LEFT ME IN TEARS I AM SO HAPPY I GOT MY GUNIEA PIG FROM THERE BEFORE PETSMART HURT THEM! . IM SO ANNOYED AND STILLL IN TEARS!!
I have been a Master Groomer for 30 years an have never heard of as many bad grooms from any other place than Pet Dumd. That is what real groomers call them.
Yes, I worked at a PetSmart grooming salon but I never understood why people take dogs in to be groomed by a stranger... Do it yourself at home. Have a poodle? LEARN TO DO IT YOURSELF! I shaved Bedlingtons for years and I am not a professional groomer. I handled a specific breed of dog in the show ring so I learned how to groom them myself.
every time i took my bichon here they always had to fuckginginignig shave to the skin mother fuckersss her skin was red tail bleeding and fucking looked miserable, cut her nails wayyyy tooo much and always said she was matted when she really fucking wasnt the people their suck dick go to a professional real groomers
@dinomarino666 That's funny. Try a different PetSmart. We don't shave them down unless they are matted. The groomers HATE shaving dogs all the way down. The groomers get commission so they have to groom a lot of dogs to make any money. If they let a dog go with a bad groom they will lose a customer and word gets out among dog people. Nails? Maybe you should have kept up on trimming them yourself. There is only so far you can trim a dog's nails.
@shamuluva you have no clue what my petsmart is like and they all suck around where i live i found a nice woman who does it all by herself 40 $ less and my dog looks amazing
I swear in order to make water you have to have oxygen... What a dumb bitch pet smart sucks they don't care about animals only the accessories and products
petco is the place evrybody buy from petco my guineau pig lives 6 years and the average life span was 3-4 petco for life im getting a gecko from petco next week go petco
Fuck petsmart they get their animals from animal abusers!! >:( Im glad my dog wasnt from there we actually got him from a nice breeder who does a very fine job of taking care of her animals:)
@lizzortiz21 -_- They get their animals from abusers. Look up videos about it. And no they don't really rescue they get from this one place that forces the animals to mate and the place often floods killing many animals. The rabbits are in cages with wire on the bottom which hurts their feet because their feet are sensitive. One time a hamster got out and the person purposely stepped on it! There are many bad things about where they get their pets from.
I took my dog there. she is a shitzu and she hates baths but she loved this one!. when she goes to get groomed we always take her here because petsmart know what there doing. she loves it and shee always come home alll clean and smells really good :)
My dog was there and he was very happy during and after his treatment (I know he was during because the person doing it told us) and I believe it because she told us the story about how happy he was to be next to a "cute" lab that was a girl. My dog is also a lab. Haha it was funny
The lady didn't act too happy to see me. ARGH RAGE *INSERT HATRED COMMENTS* *RAGE SOME MORE*...no seriously, they were good. It was just cheaper for us to do it.
When i took my dog in there he came back excited and looking great and he it an annoying pug/beagle mix. Dispite him probably not being very easy to groom they did a great job. It is a bit expensive but in my opinion its worth it every once in a while.
I wonder how many times they are sued. After the one and only time I had my dog at PetSmart, it cost me $230 to clear up the infections in his ears that he got there. The vet said it was from the horrible grooming they did. Pamphlets? Are you joking?
Last year my best friend and I ran to Petsmart to pick up a few guinea pig supplies. While my mom was paying/ waiting in line, we were watching the groomers do their work. Oh. My. God. These people were incredibly cruel. ONe particular dog had his ear hair ripped out. You could hear the scream. Dogs were crying and nipping. They were scared and you could see it. I don't know if those people weren't certified or what, but I though that was a horrible display of cruelty that day.
@Theultimategeeks101 Though I don't like petsmart grooming, its probably not the groomer's fault the dog is screaming. Its a pretty normal thing. No matter how slow, kind, and calm you are they still hate it. Can you blame the dog? They are getting hair plucked from their ear. I hurts a little. Its best to stay calm and try to get it over with.
I've been a groomer/stylist at Petsmart for 4 years, and I love it. Yes, this video might be a little silly, but you get the idea. I really love grooming, and plan to continue as long as I can. Please, don't judge every salon by someone else's mistakes and poor judgement, most of us are good people who love the dogs that come in to see us. My salon is extremely strict with safety policies, nobody wants to see a dog get hurt. Anyway, I love my job and care about what I do. so mneh! :-)
Petsmart abuses animals and doesn't give a fuck and I am going to hire a profesional animal inspector that could shut down a pet company in a snap if there are more than 1 tiny mistake.
@kjsbrk This video is obviously scripted, & cannot be relied on as truthful. I saw the footage also about the cruelty of PetSmart & will no longer go there. They are not concerned for the animals, their only concern is with financial profits to themselves!
I use to take my pet to a groomer once a month and he did a great job and no problems, then he closed and moved to far from me so i started taking her to were her vet had a pet grooming and i notice she always had bloody nails and cried when i took her so i wanted to try another place and thats when i tried petsmart
that is a lie, i took my dog to petsmart to get her hair cut i told them that she has alot of axiety because of other persons that have done her and hurt her, they said no problem we deal with pets like that all the time i even brought her shampoo. 1 hour later they call me come pick up your dog. thats how they said it. so i go there they literly cut half her body and still charged me and said that she was difficult and could not deal with it. never again, i had to finish her myself.
@csweeting01 Just because a dog has anxiety about being groomed doesn't mean she was hurt in the past by other groomers. ( unless you specifically saw them harm her) Most of the time it's because the idiot parents don't bother to have their pets groomed as often as they need to be groomed while they are young in order for them to get used to the process...so when they grow up and don't get groomed except for every 5-6 months, then yes they can have anxiety and act like a fool...
@csweeting01 At the place I groom we always get "Petco dogs". The dogs get kicked out of petco/petsmart for naughty behavior. They are rarely that bad. I just think the groomers are lazy and don't want to deal with them.
I persoanally witness a small shihtzu at the grooming part of my local Petsmart jump of the grroming table- with the leash connected to the table- still one.
All the worker did was run around in a panic and call a few of her coworkers. You know what she did? Shoved the small puppy into a cage in the back and acted like it didn't happen, and went onto grooming another dog.I also have a friend with a very well behaved pitbull mix, her ear was almost cut off. I can keep going.
i go to petsmart and they are so friendly, i want a rat, and will personally check and inspect before perchase, plush get it looked at by a vet, a real vet, you can never be to safe
my shih tzu sasuke goes and get groomed at petsmart, and his vet is in there too bandfeld. i started taking when after he was nutered so after he was 6 months. hes about to be two now and he loves to get groomed. they take good care of my dog
A full service groom is just tidying around the dog's face, feet and sanitary area. Why did the groomer take a clip comb to the dog?
Also - "Water infused with oxygen" What does that mean? H2o indicates that there is oxygen in the water. Are they referring to the bubbles from the soap?
Mia's face was also not thinning sheared, as it was choppy looking.
I went to grooming academy there, and Dana IS a good groomer, AND that is her dog. A dogs grooming is NOT like our salon day, they want to eat and play all day, not take a bath.Mia is her own dog and she still wasn't 'happy' about it. Just because they aren't wagging their tails does not mean we're being cruel. As for the pawgress reports, Dana's salon, and my salon both give them out, and it's COMPLETELY required that we do so.
@jra4him Yes, it's a completely required. Keep in mind people that a lot of dogs that go into salons may not be socialized with a lot of people. They may be nervous, but we do what we can to make them feel completely comfortable throughout the whole groom.
PLEASE DON'T BYE PETS ADOPT ONE ITS FREE THIS IS ANIMAL CRUELTY HOW WOLD YOU LIKE IT IF YOU WHERE IN A TINY ROOM ALL DAY WITH PEOPLE LOOKING AT YOU ITS SICK WHAT WE DO TO THESE POOR HARMLESS ANIMALS WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO DESERVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Kayannara well in the *Dogs* defense, not a lot of dogs like getting groomed. It's easier if you have them from a puppy and can get them used to it, but the dog i adopted earlier this year hates it, even after multiple grooming sessions filled with treats lol. my parents had a dog from puppyhood and was fine with grooming except blow drying, which stunk cause he was a Newfoundland! lolol. but yea, I looked at applying for a job at petsmart and i (who has not been to an "academy" could get hired
@musicfreak6730 Once you are hired there they go slow with you and do one on one training until you are highly comfortable with what you are doing. If you want to become a groomer, you must be a bather until you are ready to go to grooming acadamy.
@Kayannara hired as a bather, and the one who keeps the salon clean, trims the nails and believe clean the ears as well. lol, and the only dog bathing i do is my border collie mix, a yorkie and a huge newfoundland dog! soo not that it is terrible difficult to bathe a dog, but still, triming the nails is different since every dog has different nails. I'm just an rookie at that so, Petsmart has proved weird to me lately. This is kind of an iffy subject.. :/
My sister's friend got her dog groomed there. When she left she found a big gash on the dog's stomache. Guess who's not going to petsmart's gromming anymore? :)
I do have to say I wish it was always that easy. Some dogs are very aggressive and are difficult to groom, wash, and or dry. This job is very stressful and the owners are not always that friendly. Don't let it fool you everyone! Experience from Petsmart Groomer!
"Mosts pets can sense and will tell you that a groomer does not have the proper training and safe grooming and handling skills."
Pets communicate this, first by being un-coopertive with the groomer during the groom. Groomers saying that your pet has bad behavior really means the groomers lacks the proper handling skills to safely manage your pet during the groom.
Dana is a likable person and obviously a good salesperson and probably a good grooming dept manager. But that's the problem; a likeable Dana type is not neccesarly a good or well trained groomer and a good groomer is not always a socially likable person. What really matters is; that the pet likes the groomer. The pet is the first to see a fake nice personality. Mosts pets can sense and will tell you that a groomer does not have the proper training and safe grooming and handling skills.
It's not right to pick on large Company's or a small business for bad groomers or bad grooms. The pet owning public needs to stop complaining and demand that petgroomers be Licensed by the State! That's right licensing is not required, store & association certifications are B/S. Licensing needs to include better school and employer educational and training minimum requirements. As it is now anyone can call themself a professional Petgroomer and start grooming tomorrow with little or no training.
@TheDogGroomingCritic That is not entirely true. The groomers need either certification or to go to grooming academy paid for by petsmart. It generally takes about 3 months before they can say they are a groomer. There are hands on training for those who go to the grooming academy. You can't just walk in and say 'I want to give haircuts pass me a 10 blade" Training IS REQUIRED so is schooling. Not sure if it's always been that way but that is how it is now.
I have worked for PetSmart in grooming for 5 yrs now, and the only time I hear this kind of negative comments is from disgruntled former employees. My salon has had 1 pet death, and I can tell you it was not due to anything the groomer did or didn't do. The dog literally dropped dead. I truly enjoy my job at PetSmart
@cldeplitch At my store we never had a death, and we are one of the oldest stores in the state of PA. I do agree with you, it does seem former employee's complain. I also love my store ^_^ I can't imagine witnessing such an event however... I feel bad for the dog =(
Most of the video does mention many of the OFFICIAL policies of Petsmart. The majority of those policies are NOT followed or expected of Petsmart groomers. They are in place, so Petsmart can cover their A-- and blame the groomer should there be an issue. I worked at a Petsmart for a number of years grooming and can tell you that this video is not the typical experience, but rather the sanitary version of an ideal made for the consumer!
I wish the petsmart groomer at my place is like this. I didn't even get a progress report for my doggie. They didn't even ask me what style i want, i had to speak up on last minute for a style look up. -.-
@tiaschenewerk uncovered is right... my friend works for this lady and showed me this video. She told me about the multiple dog deaths recently and they were even on the news a while ago for mistreating a mastiff. Just because you can't google that a dog died does not mean it isn't true. I dont know why you have to defend against another pet store either... it's all the same.
I just googled your claim of 3 dogs dying while in Petsmart care, and after 30 minutes I have come up empty handed. If your going to make accusations like that please support them. This is a wonderful look at how PetSmart takes care of our dogs, thank you for sharing. Oh and I haven't seen anything like this from Petco, not to mention the DO NOT give you a refund when your not satisfied, Petsmart does.
@TiaSchenewerk Petsmart Groomers and bathers are safety certified at all locations. We try not to push the dog into something if they are going to stress themselves out. At check in we ask the owners if the dog has health problems etc We are animal lovers. The dogs we see every 6 to 8 weeks or sooner are like our own.
@TiaSchenewerk I saw a dog myself seriously hurt itself at petsmart. It jumped off the table with the leash still connected to it. It really looked like the dog died. She picked it up, it wouldn't respond. All she did was put it in a cage in the back and start grooming another pet. Many of my friends have had problems with their grooming services.
This place sucks, I would never trust my dog's life with these people.
@TiaSchenewerk PetSmart couldn't care less about my dog. They would not give me a refund when I told them how cut up my dog was and the infections he got from their products and the cuts in his ears. They couldn't care less.
Is this not the Petsmart Grooming Salon that recently had 3 deaths in their care? Quit trying to be like Petco.Your happy or its free.Sounds like petsmart is trying to be like petco.

My dog gets groomed at Petsmart and he loves his groomer and i love em too. Too many critical people in this world.

@jokerloc If your dog was hurt there as mine was, you would feel differently. You need to look up PetSmart Cruelty here on the internet.

- I have been a groomer for seven years.

cheesefat50 3 months ago
I went to grooming academy there, and Dana IS a good groomer, AND that is her dog. A dogs grooming is NOT like our salon day, they want to eat and play all day, not take a bath.Mia is her own dog and she still wasn't 'happy' about it. Just because they aren't wagging their tails does not mean we're being cruel. As for the pawgress reports, Dana's salon, and my salon both give them out, and it's COMPLETELY required that we do so.
jra4him 3 months ago
@jra4him Yes, it's a completely required. Keep in mind people that a lot of dogs that go into salons may not be socialized with a lot of people. They may be nervous, but we do what we can to make them feel completely comfortable throughout the whole groom.

You'll notice that her dogs tail only wagged upon entering the store and then not ONCE until her 'mom' showed up again to take her home?
Kayannara 3 months ago
@Kayannara well in the *Dogs* defense, not a lot of dogs like getting groomed. It's easier if you have them from a puppy and can get them used to it, but the dog i adopted earlier this year hates it, even after multiple grooming sessions filled with treats lol. my parents had a dog from puppyhood and was fine with grooming except blow drying, which stunk cause he was a Newfoundland! lolol. but yea, I looked at applying for a job at petsmart and i (who has not been to an "academy" could get hired
musicfreak6730 3 months ago
@musicfreak6730 Once you are hired there they go slow with you and do one on one training until you are highly comfortable with what you are doing. If you want to become a groomer, you must be a bather until you are ready to go to grooming acadamy.
macabrepisces 3 months ago

yeah and you always beat your animals, cage them poorly, and throw them out like garbage.
ChannelOfReptiles 4 months ago

TheDogGroomingCritic 4 months ago
Dana is a likable person and obviously a good salesperson and probably a good grooming dept manager. But that's the problem; a likeable Dana type is not neccesarly a good or well trained groomer and a good groomer is not always a socially likable person. What really matters is; that the pet likes the groomer. The pet is the first to see a fake nice personality. Mosts pets can sense and will tell you that a groomer does not have the proper training and safe grooming and handling skills.
TheDogGroomingCritic 4 months ago
It's not right to pick on large Company's or a small business for bad groomers or bad grooms. The pet owning public needs to stop complaining and demand that petgroomers be Licensed by the State! That's right licensing is not required, store & association certifications are B/S. Licensing needs to include better school and employer educational and training minimum requirements. As it is now anyone can call themself a professional Petgroomer and start grooming tomorrow with little or no training.
TheDogGroomingCritic 4 months ago
@TheDogGroomingCritic That is not entirely true. The groomers need either certification or to go to grooming academy paid for by petsmart. It generally takes about 3 months before they can say they are a groomer. There are hands on training for those who go to the grooming academy. You can't just walk in and say 'I want to give haircuts pass me a 10 blade" Training IS REQUIRED so is schooling. Not sure if it's always been that way but that is how it is now.
Tsukiryu1990 4 months ago
@Tsukiryu1990 As far as I know it has always been that way.

I have worked for PetSmart in grooming for 5 yrs now, and the only time I hear this kind of negative comments is from disgruntled former employees. My salon has had 1 pet death, and I can tell you it was not due to anything the groomer did or didn't do. The dog literally dropped dead. I truly enjoy my job at PetSmart

joeyyy1993 4 months ago
@joeyyy1993 No we love the pets that come into the salon. We help matted messes and give love to those that do come from abusive homes.
macabrepisces 3 months ago

Petlovertx121 6 months ago
I just googled your claim of 3 dogs dying while in Petsmart care, and after 30 minutes I have come up empty handed. If your going to make accusations like that please support them. This is a wonderful look at how PetSmart takes care of our dogs, thank you for sharing. Oh and I haven't seen anything like this from Petco, not to mention the DO NOT give you a refund when your not satisfied, Petsmart does.
TiaSchenewerk 6 months ago 16
@TiaSchenewerk Petsmart Groomers and bathers are safety certified at all locations. We try not to push the dog into something if they are going to stress themselves out. At check in we ask the owners if the dog has health problems etc We are animal lovers. The dogs we see every 6 to 8 weeks or sooner are like our own.
macabrepisces 3 months ago
@TiaSchenewerk Search, petsmart cruelty. And you will change your point of veiw. Both pet smart and petco are not good pet stores.
xxHammieLover 2 months ago
@TiaSchenewerk I saw a dog myself seriously hurt itself at petsmart. It jumped off the table with the leash still connected to it. It really looked like the dog died. She picked it up, it wouldn't respond. All she did was put it in a cage in the back and start grooming another pet. Many of my friends have had problems with their grooming services.
This place sucks, I would never trust my dog's life with these people.
Fishcrazy321 2 months ago
@TiaSchenewerk PetSmart couldn't care less about my dog. They would not give me a refund when I told them how cut up my dog was and the infections he got from their products and the cuts in his ears. They couldn't care less.
