  • @GahDub i think there 2002s

  • fucking yess, i loved every min of that

  • I love it. Those drums sound fantastic.

  • What kind of set are you using?

  • @boddy1948

    Ludwig classic maple

  • 3:58 sounds a little like a ringo starr beat almost. a little more difficult on the bass drum.

  • WHAT CHINA ARE YOU USING?

  • @Rexillo1830

    Paiste 18" 2002 China

  • yout kit sound amazing. this is also my king of sound, even though sound techs hate it :)

  • If I'm not mistaken Bonzo always tuned the reso's tighter than the batter. It works for me cause there's more rebound with a lower fundamental pitch. Just sayin' Nice bro!

  • Nice job bro !! The bassdrum sounds amazing ! Must be a lot of fun to play

  • @blutchrofl

    thanks...yes, it is :)

  • perfect.

  • where is that confounded bridge?

  • yup, i think they're TUNED!!! thats a cut!

  • @TheApostleofRock

    linear pattern : RLR FF

  • was that supposed to be the crunge at around 2:50?

  • would you recommend those crashes?

  • THE CRUNGE! @ 2:46

  • Nice job. Sounds great.

  • i heard the crunge also ;)

  • I heard "The Crunge" in there :)

  • John Bonham is that you? haha nice sound man and super clean playing love it

  • what drum skins/heads are those? I was looking to buy some new ones

  • @marcoscamarillo1

    coated emperor

  • is the mic by the beater?

  • @jpsguitarguy

yes, also a reso mic, so there's two on the kick

  • Gene Krupa influenced for sure!

  • This guy must be a fan of John Bonham! Yes?!

  • Incredible drummer. Really nice dynamics and the timing was spot on.

  • Can I borrow you so I can play in a band with a good drummer for a change? I'm serious.

  • Nice Bonham beat.

  • Awesome groove

  • mmm, tasty cymbals!

  • reminds me of bonham, the cymbals drums and playing.

  • Nice sounding kit man!

  • Drums sound awesome, and you are an excellent player.

  • Nice kit, nice playing , nice organized setup !! Good for you!

  • nice very clean

  • you think the tuning technique will be different with the acrylic shells?

  • You play between Paice and Bomham,great man ! inspiring ! ...

  • Oo, very nice groove and beat

  • Okay...I gotta admit that may be one of the best sounding bass drums I've ever heard. Great demo!

  • What Paiste series are those man?, I am lookign new ones and those sound deliciuos....!

  • @mrg232

2002 and one sound creations...see my profile for complete list. Thank you.

  • @mrg232 you should check out sabian xs20 range

  • @mrg232 Paiste 2002

  • All sounds cool. What are those Cymbles - Love em.

  • @dwsnare

Paiste, please see my profile for details

  • @dwsnare You obviously haven't heard Zildjian Armand cymbals.

  • @ethansk8ter Eh, Paistes are better to some of us, me included. Heck, on the forum I go on, people crack jokes with Zildjians being lower quality than Paiste or Meinl as the punchline. Biggest name doesn't necessarily mean best quality, and heck, even these aren't the absolute top of the line Paistes. Doesn't help that Zildjian has automated the majority of their process. A Customs are pretty good, but that's it for me. But, to each their own.

  • @AspiringRocker729 the bells of top of the line paistes typically sound like they do on cheapys but what do i know.

  • @sticksbass That has definitely not been my experience, having heard a fair share of cheap cymbals and owning some expensive ones. Like, the high end Bell Rides (Blue Bell Ride and Powerslave, and also Twenty Custom Metal Ride) sound absolutely fantastic. If your opinion holds after that, fair enough! We all have a sound preference, after all.

  • Dude your set is amazing

  • @otochari

I'd say it's about the same...not quite as tight as jazz tuning but close.

  • Thumbs up if Rhythm Magazine sent you here!

  • @PButros1 its not off center, the double-bass patch makes it appear that way though

  • The drums sound album quality!

  • you are great drummer! greetings from Bulgaria, full respect!

  • are you endorsed at all? awesome video by the way

  • @LukesDrumsOnline

    no...thanks for watching

  • Do the Crunge!

  • I play Ludwig/Paiste 2002's...what's your cymbal setup? And where's your hat jingles? ;)

    Where's that confounded bridge?!

  • @PButros1 it might be off a little, but its actually suppose to be. its suppose to be a little to the right or left.

  • typicaly i dont like that round tom sound but i must say this doesnt put me off that much on this kit... and the drumming is great

  • Needs more cowbell.

  • @PButros1 He probably has one of the Gibraltar double bass pads on it and hes just using a single bass. so it'd be off center because its set up for double bass pedals.

  • omg.. wow.. speechless

  • that bass drum is amazing.

  • Dude read his Answer the guy said himself they are off center. Read the comments the dude playing. That posted the vid that set up this kit said they are off center! End of story!!!

  • Very tasty licks/fills and grooves!!

  • @PButros1 No... the beater’s not off center - and yes it is it an optical illusion. The flam sticker (sticker stuck to the center of the bass drum head) is designed for two beater’s and/or double kick applications. Essentially, the flam sticker is off center - but it’s often placed this way. It’s placed this way so that the beater you use most often is striking the center of the bass drum head.

  • @PButros1 He's using a double bass pedal so they are both off centre a little.

  • @PButros1

    Thank you

  • LOL, should have picked up on that, double beater..

  • @PButros1 , man, I'm in dire need of new binoculars, single beater, still off-center....right??

  • @PButros1

Correct, the beater is of center and it's because it is a double pedal with the secondary beater not setup.

  • Really good stuff. Great shots, great sound, great drumming. And loving the 2002's. One of the all time classic cymbal sounds made to sound great here. Nice playing!!

  • What is the ride? 2002 Power ride?

  • @GrooveDrummin thanks.

  • I'm jealous! :o) Amazing drumming sir. Thanks for sharing. This is fantastic.

  • Your snare sounds godly

  • Love it. In my opinion, that is a classic sound for jazz with the exception of the kick which is very nice "big sound". Nice...love the 2002's as well.

  • Great sound! Great skillis! Now, you say you don't normally like the toms tuned that tight, but it has that "Bonham"-like sound. Beautiful.

  • very good a perfect drummer

  • Wow, your one precise drummer - in a whole new dimension! :-D

Really like the small circles on your drumheads where one can see that youve hit them quit often there. Thats not very usual, normally youve got thos "hit-marks" everywhere on your drumhead. :)

  • Love the big band jazz feel of those tightly tuned toms. I like the little addition of "The Crunge" you added in there too. Once again DZ, perfection.

  • what's the crash on your left ? thanks!

  • @rockanroleroamil

    Paiste 2002 18" crash

  • Dang thats how you know you have quality equipment.. when you can tune them low, tune them high tune them mid range and still have a sound that anyone can be jealous of..

That rack like that gives a little throwback to the olden days of jazz.. Max Roach type..

    Hey great playing, awesome skills..

  • @elrojomuerto6x

Thank you very much for watching.

  • , I love your sound (and your drum kit and the quality of the sound).

Can you answer me two questions:

    How many micophones do you use?;

    What microphone do you use?

  • @Timzurita020196

    Thanks for watching. Eight:

Kick reso - Sennheiser e602 II

    Kick batter - Yamaha MZ105be

    Snare batter - Shure SM57

    Snare reso - Shure SM58

    Room mics - (2) Yamaha MZ105be

    Rack tom - Sennheiser MD421

    Floor toms - Sennheiser MD421

Overheads left and right - Samson CO2

  • do I hear a bit on The Crunge in there??? =D

  • @Cliner98 Yup. I've only been playing for 2 years, but I eat, breathe, and live drums. Most of my drummer friends don't understand how my bass drum is completely empty, yet still sounds good. Or why I like to keep my snare ringy. I just think it's important to know your instrument, and know how and why it sounds like it does.

  • how much do bonham sized classic maple drums usually go for new?

  • @headbanger327 A lot...

  • @DuNordavind well no shit sherlock!, im looking into a set of these and i just wanted to know the average range they go for so i know how much more money i need, i have 1,500 at the moment, so... half-way?

  • @headbanger327

    around $2600, no hardware

  • @Cliner98

Yeah, the shallower shells sound better IMO.

  • always great sound.

wish i could have a kit like that!

  • @mariorossipuzza

I wished for this kit for about 8 years. Thanks.

  • That 13' is higher tuned than m y 10' I guess =P

  • Excellent!

  • as easy as that is to play with four on flour for most of it, that was very musically played :D Well Done.... the world needs more drummers like you :)

  • I tune mine a bit high, too. People are always surprised when they sit behind my set and play them. They often say it kinda sounds weird. It's because the pitch drops out in the front. They don't hear what I hear. By the way, your rack tom sounds damn amazing. I haven't heard you 'jazz it up' in a while. Jazz solo???

  • nice job here danimal

  • Not really my style of tuning but I'm sure it works for you! I use 24, 13, 16 and 18 sizes and I love to tune them as low as possible.

  • sounds beautiful especially that rack good job

  • Dan why don't you cover some led zep songs? They would sound great.

  • @Cliner98

I would say around the same, too tight and they loose all bottom end. They are much more responsive with the tighter tension.

  • 2:50 led zeppelin - the crunge

instantly broke out the air bass-guitar and jammed along

  • @Tommyboiuk1992

I was hoping that would happen :-)

  • @GrooveDrummin I had my guitar with me, so I ended up jamming with it too! :P

  • sounds like mitch mitchells drum tuning! (:

  • A dislike? Someone's lost their marbles! lol

  • @zoekozoeko Probably someone who thinks that Travis Barker is better than Buddy Rich.

  • Well they sound great

  • you gonna do anymore deep purple covers?burn was class

  • I got a question, I never consider on u sing coated heads on my tom. Why is it that the vast majority people use clear heads on their toms? I find it more better sounding to have clear heads on the batter head of the toms instead of coated heads. I mean, i find it better though anyway to have a clear head since you can get the most sound out of your toms, u know?

  • @Shadowfury

If you like them better then that's all that matters. I like the coated heads better because to me they sound more natural and are more responsive with dynamics....kind of like the difference between putting a clear head on the snare instead of coated. I find you slightly lose high end frequencies with clear heads but gain a little bottom.

  • Sounds great. If you put some Zildjian Ks or Boshporus cymbals or something you'd have a sweet setup for jazz.

  • Beautifulness

  • bonzo tuning sounds great.that ambassador bass doesnt sound as punchy as the emporer but it still sounds great

  • if you go 1ply on the bass drum have you tryied controlled sound? to me it sounds better
