Oh rats. I just realized that this spellcheck changes "gallavant" to "galavant". My sincere apologies to those who had to read that gibberish. ... Heh. Seth's dancing like he's in a 1950's flick.
Yup, that is Susan Ward. The director actually snuck into the freshman art history lecture (a mandatory suffering for all RISD Freshmen) to tape her. It was just a random portion of a real lecture. All that stuff about parrots and the new world's influence on painting was totally legit : )
Work hard, get good at some form of art, and show them your best effort and love of creating in your portfolio. It is a place that loves creative, expressive, authentic people. Talent doesn't hurt either ; )
oh and if you wanted to try and get intouch with him, he has a twitter account called sethmacfarlane and if you leave him a comment he usually responds. ;-] the only thing is you have to make an account on twitter first.
@Aarongoldner I don't know if Seth has seen this but, i did send the clip to kara Vallow (his producer) awhile back. So he's probably seen it but, i'm not sure though.
I graduated in 1991 from RISD. Hmm..why is it on a child psychologist's youtube channel? How od. Does this mean I have a mental problem too? Good, that's ok with me then, he did not seem to do so bad for himself.
LoL. I got my art degree as an undergrad, taught art as a way to make money, and became a psychologist in order to help children, express other aspects of my creativity and make significantly more money. : )
Andy Ristaino was a kind and creative young man when I knew him. One of those ultra talented people who makes regular talented people feel inadequate. I was also an extremely hard worker when it came to developing his artistic talents and skills. Never saw him without a sketchbook. Ever. Period. : )

A: Seth is really, really weird it looks like... and if this is how he was in reality and not just in this video, then that, that is a scary, scary human.
At the time, I remember it was supposed to be a look of horrified shock and disbelief. Many of the models back then were...not exactly looking like models. There were a pair of 80+ year old female models, a couple of pretty greasy dudes... it was rough. From one day to the next, you never knew which model you were gonaa get.
yeah, they never give you anything "pretty" to work with. My friend is in a sculpting class right now, and he said they always get these extremely old people. and he cant stand that. and im like "dude, they cant have someone turning the whole class on while they work". its comical. i love the video btw. i wish i knew seth. he seems like someone i would be haning out with. im a big dork, who likes making people laugh. if only...
I'm glad everyone is enjoying it. That video sat on my shelf for over 10 years before human technology progressed to the point that I could show it to the world. That gives me endless joy. It is perhaps my one great lasting contribution to humanity: That video is going to be bouncing around the net for a looooong time : )
Hmmm, I wouldn't use the word "whore." He was never that desperate or greedy about performing for others or being in the spotlight. In fact, in person he was very reserved, quiet and respectful. He genuinely enjoyed making people laugh and smile. He was a very good natured guy when I knew him 12 years ago. The original senior-film pilot for what would eventually become The Family Guy led him to be courted by Hanna-Barbera, but he was never boastful about it. He was humble.
He was exactly like him except for Seth was always hysterically funny. He was actually known around campus as a uniquely funny and interesting indvidual. Many people who had never talked to him knew who he was. I don't think he was fully aware of that... most artists are naturally introverted and he was no exception. Although, the numerous appearances on late-night TV and California living may have brought out his more outgoing side.
LoL, Okay, the guy in the seat to Seth's right (wearing blue shirt) is me, the guy seated to the left wearing the dark colored shirt with the glasses is Jeremy Lasky. If you meant, me, then thanks. If you meant Jeremy then I accept the award for "hot guy next to Seth" on Jeremy's behalf.
Yes it was...back in the day. Previously was called the Refectory (a.k.a. "The Rat Factory." An affectionate name only. There weren't any real rats seen there...
I'm a graduate of the class of 1996. RISD was an incredible experience and some of the best years of my life. It changed me forever and helped me to realize the power of creativity, imagination, and dedication.
I nearly died when we shot the scene with Roger Mandel. I had never really talked to him up close before. I arrived at the filming a little late that night. McBride was already there with the rest of the crew positioning lights. The night before, he showed me a piece of paper that said "RISD, a heaping hunk of burning funk." McBride said maybe we get him to say it. I dared him to. He did. When Mandel said it I realized he was a good dude who wanted to help his students. Funny nickname tho.
Why thank you. The guy who does the tackle (he stunt-doubles in) is an old school friend named Moses. Moses was about 5'8" as I recall, and an army brat who had been stationed with his family in several different countries. Good artist, funny guy. Hung out with my friends Rhon Porter, Ken, Sean, and Aaron McBride.
You recognized someone, yes, Andy with the Blonde Curly hair. He was an AMAZING illustrator. How'd you recognize him? There are a few people who I remember so well, but whose names I cannot remember any longer. I would love to remember... I believe the long blonde-haired dude was Dave.
I went to high school with Andy, he inspired me to go to RISD once he got accepted. He's an amazing animator/illustrator and showed this video to me when I graduated RISD in '01. I recognized it immediately!

That little jig he did before entering the theater came off as a pre-cursor to Peter's "Surfin' Bird" dance for some reason.
Gotta hand it to Seth MacFarlane for bringing comedy to it's height :]
