I can imagine you either love or hate the boys sound. For me it's the combination and contrast with the strings that makes this song so beautiful. Also the impact of the movie helps. Irish style music is the most emotional in the world, at least to me.

I can imagine you either love or hate the boys sound. For me it's the combination and contrast with the strings that makes this song so beautiful. Also the impact of the movie helps. Irish style music is the most emotional in the world, at least to me.

@ajpw1981 I wondered the same thing the first time I heard it in the movie. But when you think about it, it is appropriate; an individual rebelling against people stronger than her pays the ultimate price. That's prettu much what the song is about.
I adore the song, but personally I dread this version.

I think that every journalist should be required to see this movie and understand that it is this type of devotion and commitment to your occupation that makes the profession meaningful. This is a woman that used her position to help change her country for the better.

The Naas Dual carraigeway is in Dublin not a few miles outside it. I'm a Dub from a mile away from it. It's not actually in Naas, which is outside Dublin.

I have told the story about this young knacker on other postings. Actually, he would'nt be a young kid any more. Obviously he would have grown a lot taller by now. He received 500 Euro from the Producers of the movie for singing this song. It was a steal because if he had proper legal representation, he would have received 1 Euro for each time the movie was shown. The Movie was a blockbuster. Do the Math, 1 Euro for each time the movie was shown World wide. it is even on TV these days.
