  • the song was made even nicer with his voice

  • thunbs up if u will miss veronica

  • great song !! cheers from North- Italy

  • kids shouldn't sing. he has destroyed a gorgeous song

  • @ruthiehensh: You have to look it in another context. Did you have seen the movie? Do you know WHEN this song is playing in the movie? Then you know why they choose thiis song en singer. By the way. The singer is Bryan O'Donell. He sang this song at the age of 8 ( if i'm right) and accoustic, in some small alley in Ireland. Later they filled it up with music.

Everytime i see the clip where Bryan is singing and knowing the story so well, it gives me the creeps.

  • @kipchicky100 I have seen the movie more than once. And, although it means a lot to the scene it's played on, the little boy destroyed it, I think.

  • @kipchicky100 is there any video of young bryan singing this song u know of?

  • @mortemessenger: As far as I know, there is no video of this.

  • I'm irish and this child makes me feel proud to be :)

  • whats the name of the person singin in this song?

  • @21topman His name is Brian O'donnell. His was voice was recorded in an alley in Dublin, and I believe he was only 7 years old when this was recorded.

  • @hparks3 Now i see you're reaction.I write almost the same.

  • I just stumbled upon this film, and it touched me dearly. The fact that anyone would speak negative about this situation, or this woman, is ridiculous. If one doesn't fight for what they believe in, and stand for a better life for all, then why bother? She didn't die a marter, she died a reporter, believing in her job, and herself, and her country. If only there were people like her in the U.S., maybe we'd be a better country! Blessings to her family!!! And the ladd singing as well.

  • If this song doesn't break your heart whenever you hear it, you can't have one in your chest worth breaking. An amazing rendition.

  • The singer was a young boy who sung on O'Connell street for years to get money for his family. Most people will remember him because he used to belt this out a million times a day, and it looks like some one heard him cos he was hired for this movie!

  • @mckinky45 my music teacher heard him singing in dublin

  • who sings tht version???

  • @pkluge1 as far as i know it was a little traveller boy buskin on the streets of dublin

  • Read all about this at the time. We need more like her. So sorry, love from America. Love all the music. ty Ireland Stand tall.

  • This gives me goosebumps

  • this version is alright but paddy reilly is the only one that can sing this song

  • I used to love watching this film when I was 12.. I must give it another watch! It's been six years. It was so educational.

  • poor boy so young and little i hope he is never homeless again and its freezing cold in sydeny

  • its a good version of the song even do he is a pikey

  • its really sad for her husband and child :(

  • its very sad but i think veronica should of stopped, she got warnings from john gilligan and for her own and her familys sake she should of stopped the storys!! R.I.P Veronica Geurin

  • @shnitzel189 Se she should have stopped and gave in to the drug barons and the filth that caused the deaths of so many young people. She knew what she was doing, she gave her life to save others. She deserves our eternal thanks.

  • Fuck all the people who disliked your heartless pieces of shit >:(

  • at 2.35 it is too epic-cant hold back the tears

  • god rest her she did not deserve that the people that did that i hope ye rot in hell

  • who sings this song :O best version i eva heard :D

  • Retarded song

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @baggzio97 just because u don't like this cover of the song does NOT make it "retarded" and if u really are irish you should know what it is about and u dont seem to know the meaning of "retarded" ether.

  • what is the name of the band?

  • @thejyckle that song was not sang by a band it was sung by 11 year old boy a cousin of mine from the traveling community he was heard singing on the streets of Dublin and pick for the film

  • @WOLFGANGER666 Mate you cant talk. Your a dirty polish vodka drinking paedo. So dont go slamming irish people when half your nationality live off our fine country that is ireland. Fuck you

  • . be quiet u pennyless irish bum. u know very well we can have ur women and do when ever we want, there whores mate u only have to look out ur front door and ull see the filty irish women walking around with black african children in there buggys! your females are whores to us and the also through them selves at the big black AIDS niggers every chance they get..and the out come 4 u fools is no women 4 the cowardly irish man and no jobs as we and the dirthy niggers work every day!

  • @WOLFGANGER666

1#penniless irish bum? being irish doesn't make you poor

2#irish women are whores? there are prostitutes in every society

3#walking around with black african children? big black AIDS niggers? interacial marriages and children is a GOOD thing! being black does NOT mean you have aids. how DARE you use the word niggers?

Irish people, black people, women, poor people are some of the best people there are!

YOU disgusting, pig ignorant, racist, sexist ASSHOLE. You are a disgrace.

  • @MissCaitlinEee ..no douth u are an irish woman/whore with a big black Aids nigger boyfriend who is already married with 5 little nigger kids..we dont stand 4 whores like u here in Poland u and ur family would be beating up,FACT, come over if u dare & find out!

  • @WOLFGANGER666Actually you DICKHEAD, I am Australian, and I am 15 years old. I am NOT a whore, I have never had a black boyfriend, but if I had, there shouldn't be any fucking problem with that. Again, being black does NOT mean you have AIDS! And did you say that if I lived in Poland I would be beaten up by my own family? Wow, you're sure giving Poland a good name, I love domestic violence! FUCK UP. I suppose you beat your wife/girlfriend? I hope for her sake she has the sense to leave you.

  • @MissCaitlinEee your not 15 you lying bastard! no 1 of that age speaks the way u do..more like your a 30 years old black woman working as a whore/hooker in oz until they catch u and through u back to ur mud hut in that shithole aids country africa..every nigger bastard man woman & monkey like child should be burned alive..death 2 those filty black bastards & death 2 tramps like u who suck there cocks! you fucking whore! & i said if u liked in poland u & ur family would be beating up 4 what u are

  • @WOLFGANGER666 Do you think that, because I am capable of a coherant sentence- unlike yourself- that means that I can't possibly be my age? I am 15 years old, I am Australian and Caucasian, and I read, write and speak at a university level, so fuck you. I wonder, do you actually talk this way in real life? Or do you just do it because you have anonymity on the internet, and no-one can actually find you and expose you for what you are?

Also, thankyou to djfoley2K7 and rojomcgrath

  • @MissCaitlinEee BRILLIANT!!!!!!! GOOD FOR YOU!!! I am sick of these degenerates as well! They're so ignorant & bloody stupid that the only way they can receive any attention is to make ridiculous, negative, & "shocking" comments!!! They're total losers, don't let them get to ya! Take care! Cheers from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A.

  • @WOLFGANGER666 what you have been saying on this is totally outa line. An am Irish women i hope you burn in hell for what you have been saying. This video was made to protray a brace women who but her owb life at risk to try and make her homeland a better and safer place. FYI if Irish people are so bad why the hell is your people trying to take ver or country and your jobs. Dare you to come to our country and talk the way you do. u wouldnt last 5 minutes

  • @babymamalovish Why you even responding to an ignorant neanderthal? God bless from Scotland.

  • @celtno1 he realy pissed me off, slagging where i come from and friends that i have. thank you

  • @ARTICLAVIAN what so being very against sectarianism makes me a bigot? yeah that makes sense. What are u trying to prove hear with your Liverpool argument do i have to bring up every other British clubs violence in Europe rangers in Manchester for example and lets not be too hasty with united fans mocking the 96. im guessing your a rangers fan. its just typical cant see whats in front of you. just appreciate a great song. No Brains :(

  • my uncle seen her get shot and he try to stop it R.I.P GONE BUT STILL KNOWN :)

  • It's just such a pity that a section of Celtic FC's anti-British, anti-Protestant, bigoted support have hijacked such a moving song and used it to promote the Provos...

  • @ARTICLAVIAN fuck off you idiot its a great song sung by many clubs such as Liverpool. do they promote anti-protestantism no i dont think so. ORANGE BASTARD get your facts right

  • @rubberduckiee1990 Your overt sectarianism just proves my point. Liverpoo sing "Fields Of Anfield Road", not Athenry. Regardless, I wouldn't be too quick to associate myself with a club who has supporters like theirs, responsible for the deaths of 39 people in Heysel and who every week take pleasure in mocking the Flowers Of Manchester who perished in Munich...

  • 12 people don't know a hero when they see one..........RIP Veronica Guerin (5th July 1958-26th June 1996)9 days before her 38th birthday.

  • AGAINST THE FAMINE AND THE CROWN

I REBELLED THEY RAN ME DOWN

NOW YOU MUST RAISE OUR CHILD WITH DIGINITY

  • where can i download this song????????? please thanks

  • @rawrxxxiluvndinosaur i like the song but most people dont cos of it and i was achtully named after this when it says 'michael they have takein you away for you stole trevelyns corn'

  • @rawrxxxiluvndinosaur people dont like it cos celtic sing 'i.r.a' with it

  • Some scumbags around the world who sells drugs to Kids and adults they are still around us we all should stand up and STOP them FUCKERS the way she DİD !!!!!!!

  • @shoutloud5 though in the interest of accuracy , she didnt really stop much did she ?

  • @msjohnstonable well she still tried unlike these dirty crokked police and government cunts

  • A truly remarkable women! R.I.P Veronica.

  • the best version of this song. NOTHING else can compare.

  • freedom from the huns fuck all drug dealers

  • I saw the movie several years ago. Incredible courage. This song stayed with me as the emotional heart of the film. Such a crisply haunting voice. Wonderful...

  • I cannot find this version on Itunes. I cannot find it anywhere...I don't want to buy the soundtrack for this one song...Any suggestions?

  • @redjellybean1984 you could use a youtube converter site. there are loads of them. then you put the link into the required place and it converts it to mp3.. then you download it and put it on your ipod.. i ve been looking for this song for ages.. finally found it

  • @WOLFGANGER666 please stop being ignorant because you're making a fool of yourself, your ability to argue is pretty tragic, you're also being quite racist and since poland is a catholic country (as is ireland, must be hard to share religion with the land of fools) maybe you should be a bit more understanding and loving towards your fellow man. Galatians 3:26 "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.- ha

  • Comment removed

  • @WOLFGANGER666 yeah but you're being really offensive to other people in all your other comments, what wrong with you? you have no right to judge people! thats what i was getting at but its ok because you're going to hell when you die

  • @MaeveMcCarthy ..wow there u go again have u not just judged me & said i am going to hell when i die..it is for your God to judge not you...u have just sinned again my friend! thats 3 sins in the space of 10 minutes..go now and offend your God no more!

  • She was a great Irish Woman. Be proud of her Irish people. For ever.

  • I can imagine you either love or hate the boys sound. For me it's the combination and contrast with the strings that makes this song so beautiful. Also the impact of the movie helps. Irish style music is the most emotional in the world, at least to me.

  • yea...but what was this song, nice and all, doing on this movie? what had it to do with Veronica Guerin?

  • @ajpw1981 shut the fuck up ya faggot!

  • @mlpbourke1 bite me

  • @ajpw1981 I wondered the same thing the first time I heard it in the movie. But when you think about it, it is appropriate; an individual rebelling against people stronger than her pays the ultimate price. That's prettu much what the song is about.

I adore the song, but personally I dread this version.

By the way, there's just no come back to 'bite me,' is there? ;o)

  • @cameramanAL hmmmm, I see your point about the individual rebelling against a structure of powerful and cruel people.

Yea me too, The Fields Of Athenry is the most heartening song I have ever, or will ever hear!

  • @ajpw1981 Its like with any song used in a movie. Its just fits into the movie nicely, it doesnt need to have any direct connection with the characters or the movie itself. Its a lovely song that the creators thought belonged in the movie :D

  • r.i.p. veronica. who is the boy that sings this?

  • @PiNkpRo dnt kno his name but he,s a lil traveller kid he was singin on the street and sum1 workin on the film heard it and that was it

  • @PiNkpRo Brian O'Donnell

  • @PiNkpRo The song is sung in the movie Veronica Guerin, by Brian O'Donnell i think

  • Honestly

    Who would dislike this!?!?!?

  • R.I.P Veronica

  • 9 people are drug-lords

  • I think that every journalist should be required to see this movie and understand that it is this type of devotion and commitment to your occupation that makes the profession meaningful. This is a woman that used her position to help change her country for the better.

So many journalist or so called, care less about morals or humanity. it is all about themselves.

  • How could nine people not like this???? What could they possibly have against it?????

  • RIP Veronica, shocking rendition of FOA though.

  • Fearless legend of a woman its a pitty we dont have more ppl like her in our country

  • Makes me so proud to be an Irishwoman. She is my inspiration.

  • there is just something about this version put shivers down my spine so raw and real emotion

  • stephen o donnell is it not?

  • I love this song, but it has been hijacked by football and all that goes with it. this makes me shiver and so did the film. this girl did not deserve to die.

  • The Naas Dual carraigeway is in Dublin not a few miles outside it. I'm a Dub from a mile away from it. It's not actually in Naas, which is outside Dublin.

  • @padraigdonohoe

There used to be an intersection located there at Clondalkin. We passed by the car, covered in a green tarpaulin, on that day. We only found out later who it was and what had happened.

    A brave woman.

  • @Fredjoe5 I agree that she was brave but she did get a numerous of death threats and at that point I think she should have thought about her husband and young son and backed off.

  • @Volvoforlife08 She was and is a hero for the future youths of Ireland..its people like her that put their own safety aside for the sake of others....think of the lives she has saved..its people like her that make the world a better place for everyone else

  • @padraigdonohoe it was on da naas road .... not in naas

  • I luved listen in to this version but even more so some ov the comments to it,depending on your views or beliefs sometimes you afto look outside the box an that cuts both ways!!!the song in nearly every version is the dogs...xcellent

  • RIP

  • JOHN TRAINOR BOYSH

  • she deserved everything she got muhahahha what a dope!!!

  • while Cate did a great job of portraying Ms Guerin...i thought this was supposed to be a tribute to a murdered woman...not an actress. Surely you could have found more images of Ms Guerin?

  • The greatest weapon against the Irish drug dealers was a mother and her pen. A great woman.

  • Paddy Reilly, The Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers, almost all the Irish Artrists sing it....The Irish tenors als.

  • any irish person wil sing it for you

  • The producers of the movie made the right choice. Posted about this song before, best of all made. O'Donnell evokes the emotion that this song carries and Veronica was awesome, she did what she knew was right, thanks for posting the song Tracyterri

  • the greatest performance of this song there has ever been and will ever be.

  • retard how does he

  • This is a little knacker who used to sing on Grafton Street, The Producers of the Movie "Veronica Guerin" heard him sing and signed him up for the movie, He's probably 23 or 24 now.

  • @liamthedream pure irish not knacker you posh prick

  • @liamthedream Knacker. hey mate they are human as well. less of the knacker . they are human like any of us . great song great singer and a great women rip.

  • great song and great woman. she meant a lot to the pople of ireland.rip

  • Its one of the really horrible parodoxes of life that we make drugs illegal to protect people from harming themselves yet probably more people die of drug related crimes because of it.......would we be better off legalising drugs altogether???

  • I wanted to play dis version at mi nanas funeral but a realtion wudnt let me i luv dis

  • the singer his voice is awful

  • @colbert6 its a young girl

  • @sandyrow100

no just no,no way thats a girl fool

  • @magoonahoonoontys well this is what happens when you listen to someone who is supposed to be well informed., It might have sounded better if it had been sung by a girl instead of a boy

  • @sandyrow100

really?dnt think it could have sounded better in my opinion,i think its amazing:)

  • @magoonahoonoontys maybe I was too critical as i have heard so many versions of that song, however i do feel that the singer has put his heart and soul into it which does give a more emotionsl edge to it that some of the professional versions. I dont klnow if its true but someone told me a descendent of Trevalyn visited Ireland and even maybe Athenry a year or so ago

  • ? WTF

  • I was in the judges chambers in Alicante! the fella who killed her well his daughter owns it and has it set up lyk a court room...

  • tanks nacho he brill seen the pint sized prick john gilligan he got caught in district court with two phones again last week he had sumone sellotape them to a chair and under a table silly prick thought he was goin get away wit it till he got caught haha

  • Only watched this end of 2009. Think this raw and unaccompianed voice echoes the end of Veronica Guerlin. My interpretation. Have read other comments, am not from Ulster nor Eire.

  • The kid who used to always be on Grafton street sings it. I used to find him really annoying but his version of this is really nice!

  • tins wagon wheel....savage version RIP

  • Good.....................pictures !

  • that lill traveller boy is absolutly brilliant at singing often seen him singin on the street in dublin a lill angel he is . he done the song justice . veronica gueran rip she tried to get the drugs out . john gilligan the little pint sized prick in the district court in portlaoise thinkin he knows it all fuckin dope . to all the haters of this lill boy singin go fuck ya selfs he deadly .

  • well said, Suzzie.

  • i was in boxing wit dat guy

  • I have told the story about this young knacker on other postings. Actually, he would'nt be a young kid any more. Obviously he would have grown a lot taller by now. He received 500 Euro from the Producers of the movie for singing this song. It was a steal because if he had proper legal representation, he would have received 1 Euro for each time the movie was shown. The Movie was a blockbuster. Do the Math, 1 Euro for each time the movie was shown World wide. it is even on TV these days.

  • R.I.P Veronica. We need more of your kind to stand up to these scumbag drug dealers

  • @Sp33dDem0n1 fuck u veroinica rat

  • @cheissocoollike I'm a rat for not wanting drug dealers crawling our streets? Your comment speaks volumes about what type of person you are. You are a pathetic piece of shit m8..

  • @cheissocoollike sorry that was not me whp put that it was someone else
