  • Fag---:-I

  • It's good to use orange oil to clean your bearings and the lube is just about getting the one that's thin as possible

  • can i use methylated spirits

  • Do you leave the opened part on top? Shouldn't it be on the bottom so the dirt fells easily?

  • what's that you sprayed?

  • @DSAHOY compressed air. please check out bones bearings.com for a detailed account of how to clean your bearings.

  • What is it that you sprayed on it? Also what liquid did you use to clean it in the container?

  • @Sirkus91 compressed air and acetone.

  • i got super reds and they r so smooth so worth it

  • @BonesBearings sorry to bother you again but can i use paint thinner as the solvent to clean the bearings?

  • Is it ok to store the acetone inside the Bones Cleaning Unit for about 3-5 days? I have 6 sets to clean and not all in one location.

Also, based on fresh acetone (1/4 full as per video), how many sets can each fill handle?Just change when visibly dirty or does it still work if clouded slightly, as such a strong solvent? Not being cheap, just aim to be less wasteful/green.

  • @machineguntongue yes you can store acetone in the bottle. It is a flourinated plastic so it won't melt out or vapor out. I just walked over to the work bench and it looks as though there have been quite a few sets through the wash as of late.

  • @BonesBearings

Can you use WD40 to lube it or is that a bad idea?

  • @drum4eva1 WD-40 is a cleaner not a lubricant. It's not even a recommended cleaner.

  • Thx this helped but oust metoil is thinner so it's faster for the bearings

  • Were u putting speed cream on the bearings?

  • @WARDSK8R at the end yes I lubed them with speed cream...

  • @BonesBearings Is it ok if you isopropyl alcohol as a cleaner instead of acetone

  • wat cleaner did u use? orange oil? acetone?

  • @ubugemindia acetone.

  • 面白いクリーニング方法!

  • Do you need the compressed air for this to work?

  • Hey, what is the red scalpel like tool you use in the beginning to pull apart the bearings? Great video man, helped alot!

  • @Tahoma1985 an exacto knife.

  • @BonesBearings Ahk cool, where can I get one?

  • @BonesBearings Alright cool, where can I get one in Australia?

  • yes... please check our website for our recommendations

  • @BonesBearings where can you get a cleaning kit like that? I couldn't find it on your website.

  • @joshhhhh14 try skateone.com and shop there.

  • can use acetone?

  • @gabrielsk80 Yes. It's on their website.

  • wat spray was that at 1:30

  • @Csk081 compressed air

  • @futtbuckr ceramic bearings are pretty much the same process accept you are not supposed to lubercate them a lot becuase they spin faster with out it. And you use a strong rubbing alchahol like i use 75% and if you dont have a cleaning kit ( i dont ) i just let them sit in a bowl than shake them individually in a bottle and wipe them down with cue tips it helps to go to their website and view their cleaning guide

  • what is in the bones bottle

  • @Mattdaskater69 acetone.

  • I just bought your ceramics, but there was no instructional booklet. Are they better for street or vert? And what is the best method for cleaning them?

  • can you use this method for any other bearing brand? Because, this is the only method that I know will keep your bearings nice and longlasting...

  • @ImNoTRaCsIst depends on the brand and their shield type and all that.

  • can i use methalated spirits

  • @TheDav0045 high purity denatured alcohol is fine.

  • working with solvents.

  • Y ARE U WEARING RUBBER GLOVES?????????????

  • @bonesbearings what kind of acetone do i need to use? because my father told me that there`s more than one type of acetone, so is it the one used on nails or another type?

  • @DemonLovesYou from the paint department at your local hardware store.

  • @BonesBearings can i use another solvent? in brazil it's kind of hard to source acetone...

  • whats gonna happen if i just never clean my red bones?

  • Thank you!

  • @MrMusicguy07 either works fine. there are instructions that came with your bearings that explain what we recommend and why.

  • would paint thinner work?

  • you are a skate doctor???

  • what do i clean my bearings with?

  • @AsianKid509 I always clean my bearings using nail polish remover. I have the bones cleaning unit (bottle with a screw in the lid to hold your bearings). I put about 1/3rd of acetone in there, load up my bearings and shake it. Because its a water based solution, (you shouldnt ever clean your bearings with water btw), I had to dry them off quickly

  • @SmallFry2117 and before you put the rubber seals back on, I put the bones speed cream (about 2 drops a bearing). Give them a good spin in your fingers, put the rubber seal back on and voila!

  • do i have to remove the rubber part?

  • @TheJhonsolis yes, the acetone will blister the rubber.

  • @BonesBearings so what kind of knive whold i have to use? How do i put back the rubber part?

  • you guys should upload more videos

  • do u need to use the lube or can u just clean them and put the sheilds back on?

  • @s4w2a0g you need to lubricate them. keep them from rusting.

  • why would people dislike this lol?

  • my car compressor bearing is making noise, will this idea work make it good again

  • @antalpur probably not as those are more likely to be a sealed bearing.

  • @BonesBearings oh i see then i have to get it replaced thank for da reply though

  • @antalpur go get a mechanics advice. :P

  • how do u remove metal sheilds

  • @W4FFL32 depends if the shield is meant to be removed or not. some have a snap ring and some are pressed into place.

  • @BonesBearings i bought bones mini logo wih 1 rubber and one metal sheild

  • @W4FFL32 has a snap ring you have to pinch out with a pen knife.

  • I have reds for my carving longboard (Globe continental) set up and super reds for my downhill setup (Landyatchz switch). These bearing have served me well. Awesome quality.

  • @bonesbearings i have bought bones super swiss 6 and the bones cleaning unit. So, I'd like to know when do i have to clean them? I was seriously thinking of cleaning them after monthly use, as i don't skate that much. Please answer this question.

  • @DemonLovesYou its really up to you on how often you'd like to maintain them. I don't know how dirty the terrain you're skating on. when they get loud and slow is the best bet.

  • helpful thanks! you just swissed em around in rubbing alcohol? then lubed them up?

  • when I cleaned them, how long do I have do wait than?

  • Where do u get it

  • Can i use Isopropyl Alcohol?

  • Where can I get that cleaner in Canada and how much does it cost

  • at 1:29 u sprayed the bearing with something wat is it and why?

  • @Halo20972 compressed air and it's to dry them out.

  • @Halo20972 he sprayed them with wd 40 witch doesnt help

  • @beastmolongboarder7 compressed air not wd40

  • wd-40 is not a lubricant. its an oily cleaner. i use it for cleaning them. i spray wd-40 to remove dirt then i wash it out with acetone or alcohol. then i oil with 3 in 1 or bones lube.

  • @lemonfilms214 WD-40 is a water displacement agent. It was developed at Vandenberg air force base in Lompoc California. it was developed to spray on the rockets outer skin in case the launch window lapsed. It was to protect the skin of the rocket from the sea air. It was dangerous and time consuming to move the rocket out to the pad. so instead of moving it back, they sprayed it with WD-40. Water Displacement formula revision #40.

  • Just sold my shake junt bearings for some bones reds can't wait to skate em

  • i just got some red bones bearings just yesterday

  • Did you clean the bone swiss ceramics?

  • Comment removed

  • its so difficut for mee xd

  • what if we dont have tht fancy bottle lol and is tht rubbing alcohol in it?

  • @TylerMcGrew1303 its acetone.

  • @BonesBearings thnx. is it okay if we use rubbing alcohol thou? and wht should we do if we dont have the bottle?

  • @TylerMcGrew1303 don't use anything that has water in it... rubbing alcohol does. buy the bottle, you can find them for $10

  • @BonesBearings okay cool thnx alot!!!!!! :)

  • Acetone.

  • what do YOU! fill the container with

  • @maxfbs acetone

  • @Gcalvano514 clear? sure it's not black? you can leave that in there

  • i just got this whats the best solvent to clean bearings with ?

  • I use bones reds on my current board but ordered a tan tien recently and decided to go with bones super swiss. Will I see a notable difference or was this upgrade not worth the money?

  • @InfinitePineapple yes, quicker acceleration, higher top speed, and longevity....

  • i was just wondering is acetone safe to get on the bearing retainers, not the outside sheilds just the retainers? =]

  • When my wheels have a good amount of dust and grime that has accumulated around the bearing side, should i wipe that off or will i also be wiping off lubricant?

  • @longboardie657 the lubricant is on the inside of the bearing, so wiping off the outside will do nothing to the amount of lubricant on the inside.

  • Comment removed

  • 1:30 is that compressed air? Where can I get that? And what lube should I use?

  • I have Bones Swiss and I was wondering, do I remove both of the black rubber shields on the sides? One side says Bones Swiss and the other looks different and is just plain black.

  • @colinpowers7 remove the shield with the writing on it. the other part is the ball retainer, not a shield.

  • will WD-40 work,asin before i try it??

  • @HeroSpartan10 WD 40 is a water displacement spray, not a cleaner or lubricant.

  • @BonesBearings yea i looked up a video right after your vid here, but thx anyway

  • do you have to use compressed air

  • @SPARTA4309 no but it helps

  • there is only one shield on the Bones Swiss Bearings, unless you have the labyrinths. otherwise, the recess side is a ball retainer and you can leave that in there.

  • and what was the name of the red scalpel like thing u were using

  • @FreshAsphalt exacto knife.

  • hey i just got my bones bearings maintinence kit (cream and jug thing) and i was wondering if when sliding your bearings onto the stick that goes into the jug do you have to have both sheilds off? and if not so wat side of the bearing should the sheild be taken from?

  • What spray was being used at 1:31

  • @Onetreevids compressed air

  • if u shake the bearings to hard will they fall out?

  • @333iskateallday not if you leave the ball retainers in.

  • @BonesBearings what solvent are using Acerone, alcohol 91% or what?

    what solvent you recommend

  • @kevonmalon I use acetone.

  • ive got bones super reds and i heard from pros if you pop the shields off you get better performance well i tried that and the balls went all over the place what do i do

  • @234zxt sounds like you popped off the ball retainer not the shield. and taking off the shields does not make them faster. they are non contact shields so there is no friction. just FYI:

  • what was used on the bearings at 1:29? air in a can?

  • @brianandhisbike yes, a can of compressed air.

  • I cleaned my bearings today, but when i was about to put one of them into one piece again, i did it a little to hard so that the balls and the inner ring seperated from the outer ring... I tried everything i could to put the balls between the inner and outer ring again, but it was simply to hard.. Is there any way i can fix it. or do i need to buy new ones?

  • @TheVilldyr check out our other video showing how to put them back together.

  • I cleaned my Reds in 99.9% isopropyl alcohol and added two drops of speed cream in each, I placed them back in the wheels appropriately and popped one ollie and the cages all shattered! What did I do wrong?

  • @ProjectSAGE cages shattered? never heard of that before.

  • @BonesBearings Oh well, I've got some bones ceramic super reds on the way so hopefully that wont happen to them!

  • @ProjectSAGE thats pretty funny

  • did u put speed cream or acetone in that container? please respond im planning on purchasing speed cream and that bearing cleaning unit tomorrow.

  • @xwabrx you clean the bearings with acetone and then lubricate them with speed cream.

  • Can you use contact solution

  • I would imagine this is better to use. But some people say WD-40 also works. In fact many of my friends say so. Is this true? They say not to pray it really close though. And even if u wanted can still use the lubricant after. Because I have some WD-40 but I don't have what you just used

  • I GOT YOUR BEARING LUBRICANT......I PUT THEM TO MY BEARINGS.......IN MY FINGERS...IT ROLLS SLOW.......BUT WHEN USED AND SKATED!!! SO FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST!!!!

  • The Speed Cream works well on Bones Reds? Because it have the swiss logo.

  • @MusicStudioHits i've used reds bearings once, if you put lube on it you'll keep them rolling a little faster and to not get dirty inside them. Just it. Save for swiss, they're the shit!

  • Some skaters take of the bearing shields and dont put them back on. Why ?

  • @sK8eRSnL because they like to keep buying our bearings rather than take good care of them. there is NO positive reason to ride the bearings without the shield.

  • what are the small black rounds for that you place behind your wheel

    (because I don't have those)

  • @Dende18 bearing spacers to insure that you don't over tighten your bearings in your wheels binding them up.

  • I cleaned my bearings using this unit and acetone, they were spinning SOOO fast! But then I put the recommended 2 drops of Speed Cream and they slowed down by at least 10 times!

    WTF?

  • @5Sneek It's not how they spin in your fingers it's how they spin weighted.

  • @BonesBearings Thank you for that amazingly fast response!

    /respect

  • How often should you lube your bearings?

  • @hockeystar3001 you when start to feel that your bearings are not rolling well or too slow

  • doesn't shaking it up like that make the dirt from the bearing go in the bottle than when you clean a new set the dirt from the other bearing goes in the other set

  • @khadeem32k you can change the cleaning agent

  • how long will swiss bearings last without monthly(or so) cleaning?

  • @DemonLovesYou I have the labyrinths, and Ive gone about 7 months without cleaning them, and they still run like new. As far as regular swiss, I've seen them go about 4 or 5, but when we cleaned them there was a little damage to the outer raceway from the dirt.

  • That spray can is not containing WD40 is it or compressed air

  • @SAW1181 compressed air.

  • does gasoline work?

  • @BurtonSnowboarder555 there is oil in gas, so it's not that good of a cleaner.

  • does it have to be a special bearing oil or can it be any oil?

  • @MultiDaGuy light oil lubricants. we designed our speed cream for skating purposes.

  • Respond to this video... they are laytex gloves.

  • @Mrayis100 LOL ur attempt for comment likes failed.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mrayis100 well....in that case ur just an idiot...

  • Where do you get cans of compressed air from?

  • @dasuperguyman Radio shack, staples, best buy or some place like that..

  • is the part at 1:29 neccesary? or just for good measure?

  • @iJasoni1 It helps a lot.

  • you spinned the bearings without shields, what i i skate bones bearing without shields would the balls fall out?

  • @iJasoni1 not if the ball retainer is in there, but there is no point to riding them without shields, just ruin your bearings faster.

  • @BonesBearings thank you

  • @iJasoni1 no, the shield protects from dirt. the ball retainer keeps the balls in place.

  • @BonesBearings but eventually if skated without shield long enough and with enough trapped dirt it can cause a bearing to be lodged out and the rest to follow and just shatter.

  • What else van you use to get the rubber shields off?

  • @dasuperguyman what ever you can use to push them out something small like a pen knife.

  • How many times can you use the Bones Speed Cream or how many ml?
