  • Do not try this with newer drives. they have glass platters and may shatter and shower very sharp glass shards everywhere around it, including into you.

  • the seagate hard drive are very good i think

  • it is an seagate, i have the same disk i took off the some of the read an write heads on mine and scratched the platters and it keeps going! it a 4gb 4500rpm and i took it apart about 1 year ago and still will not failed!

  • The last (and only) hard drive crash I was near nearly blew a hole in the side of a computer at college, lol

  • I think it's an old Quantum, I had two of those making that same terrible noise. Maxtor is pretty quit...when it's idle :-).

  • That is definately not an old quantum becuase Quantum never put metal pieces over the platters.... My guess is that it is an older Seagate
