I just made these and they're delicious! I omitted the tomato, added papas and refried beans to the chorizo mix. I also added a chipotle pepper in adobe sauce to my masa mix. It's my first time and I love it..I don't really care for tamales because they're boring and bland to me, but this has lots of flavor going on. All tamales should be a little jazzed up.
@freitasex Thank you Michael. The corn husks were so irregular in size that they came out smaller than I'd have liked but a family member (a most excellent cook) told me to try banana leaves next time. So I'll do that. I'm so looking forward to reheating them tonight. Thanks again for the recipes. I love your channel!
@iLikeCookie88 good point.. I guess you have to have lots of patience to make these great dishes.. I got caught up with the worlds fast pace of cooking. Everything is done in a microwave in my world..lol
the only tamales ive ever eaten are made by my grandma and apperently no one else makes em the same as her i would like to try these they look tasty :P my grandmas are made with chicken shredded and fried with jalapenos and chili peppers and the outside is a carrot/potato mash and a fresh corn and corn flour kinda dough and she always puts a olive right in the middle and she always uses banana leafs to wrap is this normal anywere? she is from honduras if that makes a difference
People from different countries make food differently, and many countries use banana leaves... some people in Mexico use banana leaves and most use corn husks for the traditional Christmas season.

Tamales with Chorizo? Yum that sounds pretty good. I never heard about that but hey tamales are my favorite. My mom makes great tamales. She makes ones that has chicken, corn, potato,this tomoato sauce and she adds cheese. All inside the tamale. Trust me! Its really good.
That looks really good, i've never cooked mexican food but i'd like to try this, Do you know how to make Pozole? I tryed it once at a mexican friend's house and I liked it but I dont have the recipe to make it, I enjoy your cooking very much, thank you.
I am honored that you watched this video, as I admire you so very much.
For 17 years I lived on the Mexican/USA border at San Diego and have been to Mexico/Tijuana many times as well as Pueto Vallarta and Tecate and Ensenada.
Pazole, yes I know that soup, but I have never tried it myself.
Sorry, I just cannot imagine trying to make it, but of course I would try it... the opportunity has never presented itself to me.

Just wondering, why not instead of adding oil first just put the chorizo in and fry the pepper with the grease from the sausage??
lazyorc 8 months ago
@lazyorc
You can certainly do it that way, so go for it :)
