    epic interview btw.

  • when he said hes in the military now, it reminded me in BTS the movie, where "Shorts" and "Bobby Two Cocks" were talking and Shorts was saying shit about when we was growing up it was either a tagger or a gang banger... and like at the end he said the gang banger got holes in his body, in a wheel chair... but the taggers are holding down decent jobs.

    caspr

  • Skeme, what is your AKO? joe.perez@AKO hit me up..

  • Talkin' bout all city, what ever happen to Taki'? They talk about him creating all city in "Style Wars" but then that's it...

  • Taki 183 had a gas station or something, or he sold cars, something like that.He regretted his graffiti days too, read this a while ago, when he gave an interview.

Skeme and his mom are dope, this dude was seriously good in his days!!!

  • Interesting.

Wonder why he would regret it though, yeah you can get bagged but, hey, if you enjoy something that's not hurting people why not enjoy it?

  • I would think the same, but who knows,? maybe he became a square in the mean time...anyway, if he hadn't started it, somebody else would've...it's human nature to put their names up...

  • For sure. It's the same thing as when someone writes their name in the restroom stall. Just on a wider scale.

I really hope I don't grow fully out of this, it keeps my sanity and makes the place look better....meh, to each his own I suppose.

  • You never really outgrow graff bro, i quit bombing years ago, but still watch the trains that go by for graff on em, and i still follow the scene, most dudes quit for a while but most of em come back in one way or another

  • Perhaps there is some instinctial urge to be known?

Hmm, well, I'll be bombing tonightso hopefully I can enjoy it while I can :)

  • Instinctive? I doubt it. I grew up in the Hayes Valley district in the early 70s and then in the Mission district. No mass of kids trying to be known. Nope. Not until 'Beat Street'. A whole decade later. Then Subway Art revealed to the rest of the world. Instinctive? No.

  • Well I mean...IDK, but again with like the restroom stuff.

Why do people write "Mike was here" even if they don't want fame, they want people to know they are alive (in some way even if noone knows 'Mike"). It's a different kind of fame really, it's just being known.

But ofcoarse I can't speak for everyone, like I do it so I can look at it driving passed, and for the thrill at night, and sometimes to here people talk about my alter ego, maybe I've tryin' to prove something, but IDK...

  • The 'writing' that New York writers were doing and constantly practicing did not have the ego that went with taking it to a public forum with competitive peers, the 'Mike was here' phenomenon was that and just it. I saw that kind of stuff along with 'Mario loves Blanca' and that's the extent of it. There's just nothing to make of it. What New York city kids were doing was/is on a whole different universe.

  • Let me correct myself, I meant to write 'HAD the ego that went with taking...etc. etc.'

  • I see what you mean

  • "mike is a faggot" :P

  • Lol, "I was here, but I'm not a fagget!"

Dane cook...was...funny, now he's just annoying.

  • if it gets on your record, people think less of you, and you're less likely to get a job and whatnot.

  • yhyh lol, its mad funny watchin them in style wars

  • wasn't DEZ, DJ Kay Slay??

  • yep Kslay 'was' Dez

  • I thought so. There is another dez that came after K-Slay as well. But K-Slay is the original.

My original tag name was "skeme 2". I chose the name because I was always "scheming" on the ladies.LOL.

  • Lol I love his mom, she seems pretty cool, reminds me of my own...my dad's an asshole though...

  • You're dad is an asshole, WoWJakfrost? I'm luckier than you: my dad abandoned my mother, brother and I.

  • They got devorced when my sister was still in the womb, and I guess during the time he had abused my mom during the time, a repeat of when I was being born BTW...so I didn't see him for 10 years of my life and then I had to live with him...I'm 15now,I don't think I'd bat an eye if he just up and left. It's just that he's irational all the time and gets angry really easy, so I don't even talk to him anymore.

I don't know about yours but if he did that he sounds like an asshole...

  • Damn, I'm still luckier than you,at least my dad abandoned me completely and then when he passed away just about year ago, I really didn't have any emotions anymore they were once there when I was a child but not anymore. I don't think I will ever forgive him for what he's done to my mother, my brother and to me, his first born son.

  • whats his real name????

  • why the hell would you wanna know his real name? dick head

  • yeah. damn. so long ago. we all went to music and art in the early 80s. JD (skeme) ces 157, pain 81-doug was ill. hyper/mackie. metro. yeah.

  • skeme=legend

  • ahh wat happend to him, army?? damm that kinda goes against waht graffit stands for.. against the system not becomin a number or a face part of the machine, its against being told what to do..its as if he gave up his spirit and fell into the blackness and monotiny of the deadend life that is conformity..i guess he is dead in a sence peacegod

  • wooooooooooooord up

  • Depthsofsleep08, it's also about growing up.

  • thas very true, i guess most of us jus lose our sense of wonder and jus stop dreaming, but whateva makes u happy

  • I don't know about being 'happy' but there's a cathartic sense when you become self-englightned and appreciate life's beauty with it's harshness.

  • thas deep, self-enlightened, thas the definition i was lookin for peace for that..do u write? poetry or graff, anything like that? ur seem slightly philosophical

  • I do write (illegally) but I'm just not 'up' enough that I should give out my street name, but I'm actually trying to work that around my job and college, yeah, I'm well aware of the risks which is why I work mostly alone but I'm not out there destroying people's property. I'm from the bay area, San Francisco. I, philosophical? If you can survive experiences that aren't favorable to you, you kind of reflect about it and try to make sense of it, y'know?

  • When the bass drops in and he starts taggin his blackbook is the shit, i love skeme's style.

  • wait wtf???

    i thot skeme passed away

  • ha this is classic. to see the two later on. what year was this?

  • 2000

  • Sounds like Tac/Peacegod was a 5% with double a meaning to his tag..Nuff respect to Skeme..Glad he still around

  • excuse me "TAT"

  • GREETINGS FROM THE HAGUE, THE NETHERLANDS.

RICHARD GREETS SACH and SKEME OFCOURSE.

HEE SACH GREETINGS FROM THE GREEN AND YELLOW...THE HAGUE!

  • This is the main person that really made me wanna write in the first place . 1st of all the three yard was right there where he lived in Esplanade Gardens .. whenever he did something new the whole hood knew

  • it takes years to even get noticed in the graff game.i mean you look at a guy like kaper from ng who rocked nothing but freights all those years.

  • Prolly now ... but not then in the early 70's to the late 80's ... & also depends on how long you talking .
