It sounds like a chainsaw or a dying lawn mower. I doubt thats port noise, since from what I understand port noise is a high pitched whistle like when a breeze flows through a window that's barely open. I'm guessing you used two pieces of that pvc? Check how those two pieces are connected together just go with a slot next time! :p
nood a bigger longer port and did you leave it far enough away from the wood? say thats a 3 inch port you need at least 3 inches away from the other peace of wood there
omg i know that feeling when you thaught you were almost done, and then that ocured..from my perspective that white interior doesnt seem the correct material.i may be wrong..
question of my own : I want to make a simple bass reflex cabinet for a Magnat Xpress12. The plans for it say : 60 liter with a port 10 cm wide and 39cm long. The longest I found is only 29cm long . How will it affect the sound ? Should I try making one myself , should I try making it longer ?
Ok man the first thing is your sealed section is too small and you need to use a 6" PVC an make it long so that it extend out of the box. Yeah it will raise your tuning but you also have to remember that you build the box to the sub and MTX 12's don't tune low they like 38-50+ htz so I'd go with a long 6" PVC an just try different lengths until you get what sounds best. Btw the your craftsmanship is really good you just need to tweak the design a bit...
tuning that low isnt advisable for a bandpass. that small port is causing too much port velocity. tune it closer to 45 or so on the ported side and it'll be louder and with a slot port..way less port noise
it could be one of two things... the port isnt sealed around it and air is leaking or im guessing by yout other video that sub does not have a cone and the most likely problem is that the sub has coil rub and since it has no cone that would make it sound twice as loud as it would with a cone
Couple of suggestions....first that box is tuned way too low, 4th orders are a bit different than normal ported boxes, the ported section and its tuning more or less control the upper response of the subs. I would have tuned it for about 48 to 50hz, it would still grab lows nicely. Its the size of the sealed portion of the box that controls how low it goes. Second that port is way too small. Id get a 4", an PSP areo port would be even better and sound much better.
I think its a leak around the port where it touches to wood. even tho there is a huge hole; there is a high preasure right there man. hot glue the edge of the prt. its fast and seals and can be removed easily.
That's just port noise from too small of a port, simple fix. Just need a bigger port size. Flared is recommended but not mandatory. With a 10" i'd personally go with 4" pvc. Hope this helped.
That's a common problem with these round sewer pipe ports - they start whistlin cause they too thin and long. My suggestion is make a slot port if you have the appropriate software, cause if make it wrong it also can be a whistlin port!
Ah thats an easy fix, just double the port size, its too small, imagine you want to whistle, you put your lips togeather right?, if you want tobreathe you open your mouth, simple as that.
I think you may have tuned too low. The tuning frequency of the port defines the center of the bandpass frequency. Add a second port of equal length to kick your tuning up to between 50 or 60, and then make sure you seal the joint between the PVC and the cabinet panel so that air doesn't leak around the edge of the port. That should deal with the port noise by adding extra port area and increasing the frequency where the enclosure is most efficient.
I'm not a pro but i never got that. For bandpass inclosures you need the largest diameter port you can use for a sub. I always use slot ports. These ports have less air turbelense and will also make the box stronger. But with that box you will need a long big flared port.
That port does look quite thin and that could be the port vibrating to shit. I would go with a port that has the same I.D. and go with a thicker pipe.
Try a 6" aero port my man!

try putting some baffels or speaker wadding inside the box. or make a sealed system

THE PORT + BIG =GOOD
MsJuancarlos1234567 4 months ago
@MsJuancarlos1234567 no. bigger ports arent always better.
MrAcuralvr 3 months ago
You should get a wider port and it should be flared on both ends to eliminate the wind noise.
calvinblinkee 4 months ago
Use bassbox, on this programm you can simulate port vent air velocity. Your bandpass port is "whistle", and make port "flared end"

@RWL2011 You're right but I will use them always in the future because they give no air noise and they also give the speakerbox extra strength.

Man ,i think i sort out your problem
1:) Port is too long man , Reduce port length which is tending or forcing woofer to produce lows
2:) Get bigger diameter port like 4" or 5" if you want to use same length
and yes i am sure ,its due to small port , the pressure ur showing ( air out of port ) to weave net is too much ,
in other terms , the vent velocity is too much , which is generating noise
use bigger diameter port

That´s not port flex, it´s a ridiculous amount of port noise, way too small, try flare it !!
