HEY, theres a show Chiller drive in theater on sat nights . A wolfman host with ''B'' movies, with wolfman mac. Google it . Its on those off beat channels no one watches. Its making a try at regaining the old school feel and look of night time horror host shows. Thank god someone is trying, Ive,watched it, and it does have that old charm to it , feel like a kid again stuff.
i remember Bill Cardill on a sat. afternoon commerical with a blonde girl. And she said the movie tonight is. (phoneticly) Tar-ran-tool-la instead of tarantula. Bill Cardill busted a gut from laughin so hard. p.s. Just staying up for 2 movies was a big deal in my house with my brother and sister. Thank so so much. Drohegda
@drohegda In the boston suburbs we had "Fantasmic Features" in the early 1960s. Of course it had a host like all creature feature formats. I would prepare for a night of monster movie fun by buying a bottle of coke and potato chips at a local market down the street.......my older sister would make Jiffy pop too sometimes. A few years later we upgraded our snacks to frozen pizza and we thought that was great as pizza shops were not on every corner like they are now
@inkey2 Thank You so much for the comment. i have been collecting those old sci-fi dvd.s and sometimes i will have a special night such as yours. Drohegda
@FrankBordelon Great! Another fan of SUPERNATURAL THEATER! The opening montage also showed clips from FRANKENSTEIN 1970 and QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE. If somone could get a hold of that and the MAD, MAD MOVIE opening montage (they showed the feature versions of the Republic serials in that show), I'd hock a kidney.
The second clip was "The Amazing Colossal Man". This promo scared the crap out of me when I was about 5 or 6 years old growing up in theBronx in the 1960s. Great memories of looking forward to Saturday night, shutting the lights and watching cheesy flicks on Chiller Theatre.
I was born in 1954. I remember watching this show on WPIX, CH 11, as early as the summer of 1960 when I would be going into 1st grade. I was allowed to stay up until it was over at 9PM because it was not a school night. This was a weekly favorite time slot for me and I even convinced by parents to buy TV Guide So I could know in advance which movie would be playing. Since they were encouraging my abillity to read they went for anything that showed to promise of me reading it.
I remember this from when I was 5 or 6...I distinctly remember one time shrieking 'turn it off!', and when my mother made my older siblings change it, they all complained 'isn't it his bedtime yet?'....
I don't remember this, if this is from WPIX-11 in New York. I remember the 6-fingered hand rising from the bog. Does anybody know when this version ran ? I am going to guess, being B&W, that it was pre-1967 or thereabouts. I started watching monster movies about 1969 (age 6-7) so a few years before I started would be when I would guess this ran at the latest.
I used to think that they had got crazy people from an asylum to play this senses disturbing theme....this has got to be one of the most wildest and incoherent tunes ever.
Boy that takes me back. Vampira used to scare the hell out of me. I miss horror like it was, I miss the bowery boys on Sunday, New York, and my hair..lol.
The fear impounded by the thoughts of HOPING I DONT GET NIGHTMARES FROM THIS MOVIE, was a 1960's constant worry. We would always watch a '' NORMAL'' program after,to lessen the chance of nighmares.

This thread sounds like a bunch of old geezers trying to relive their youth. "Back in the old day I used to walk 50 miles wipe by butt" lol. The past is dead gramps.
Gramps is angry now, forgot to change your diaper today. Depends is popular brand. Prehaps you should use your "jitterbug" phone to call the nursing house. shut your mouth or i'll commit you to a nursing home.
@bigmacattk Guess what jerk - you loose !! Everyone else here shared in something you never had and you can't even imagine what you missed !! You loose, looser... nothing in your '3-D' , CGI world can compare.
The scared the hell out of me when I was 5 years old. The gorilla is from THE APE MAN w/ Bela Lugosi. Nothing beats this original clip. What is that music???
This is one the most scariest intro in television history.....Brings back "good" nightmares...Well maybe not. It was so scary they had to change it....the music bring back chills...i'm glad i watch it again. I'm surprise WPIX DON'T AIR IT EVERY HALLOWEEN....
Did you see Chiller Theater on CW11 WPIX this past Sat.Oct 25th at 8pm? I don't think they are making it a weekly show, but it was cool having it back on for a night.
Chiller Theater is BACK! Yes,thats right,on Sat. Oct 25 on WPIX Channel 11,they will show BOTH opening montages AND the film Tarantula! REJOICE ,Oh bad movie fans who grew up on this great stuff.
"Chiller" UPDATE: BUMMER! Zacherley WON'T do a "Chiller" special this year after all. This was confirmed on his web page. But cw11 may move forward with one not on Halloween, but October 25th. Stay Tubed.
Ha ha! This stuff is corny and fake today, but I can see how it would be scary, especially with the musc. The low fidelity black-and-white gives it a nightmarish quality. But this "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman," "Plan Nine From Outer Space," and "The Amazing Colossal Man" in it. Those films are all cheap and funny, not scary. And what movie is that FAKE looking gorilla suit guy from? Is it "Bride and the Beast"? Or something else?
@reluctantpopstar You have to understand, it was MORE than just the show ! It was the aftermath - scaring the living sh*t out of your siblings, the nightmares, what you talked about walking to school the next day - they even made models of some of the bigger ghouls like Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman etc. (you built them with 'air plane' glue). Walking past/through the cemetery at night with your pals - the hair on your neck standing up ... To 5 - 10 year olds these weren't that 'cheesy'.
I barely remember this opening..I was about 4 or 5 around 1970. What comes back to me is the clips of "Attack Of The 50 Ft. Woman" and the part where the monsters are fighting on the ground. I grew up with the Chiller Hand, and that's what I remember the best.
Oh no! This was not for me! Back in the 1960's this "Chiller Theater" opening was so terrifying that I could'nt watch the movie! Sometimes I would change the channel, if I was watching TV alone! Today I have seen this for the first time in almost 40 years! It brings back memories of fright and my flight! "Watch it, if you dare!"
holy crap. my older brothers would flip this on back in the day. i'd freak at the site of Vampira walking out of tv! it's probably the scariest intro i can remember. the music alone is enough to bring back chills! thanks for posting it!
Omygod!! Thanks so much for posting this. This scared the crap out of me as a kid, yet I looked forward to it every Saturday night. It just wasn't the weekend without Chiller Theater.
My Dad would wake me up to watch the monster movies, I'd fall asleep on the couch after a few minutes and be bummed the next day.

I remember reading that the giant in "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" either coincidentally or intentionally looked like Pres. Eisenhower.
What is the movie at the beginning which featured the Cyclops. I sure remember that one.

This intro still is as
fresh and fearful as EVER!
Which is more HORRIFYING
THE MUSIC OR THE IMAGES?!!!
I think no other intro has
ever had more IMPACT than
this ONE!
Thanks for putting it up!
