  • I just. . . dont get it

  • damn tha wind..

  • wths the deal with some ppl sayign skinny like its a BAD thing...i'm skinny and i'm happy i am rather than fat tbh...saying 'oooh dude ur skinny' meaning it in a bad way is to me just totally pointless its how tht persons built...u wouldnt walk up to someone and go ooh u have an average figure..well only if ur abit weird...anyway rant over.

  • nice beard, the last vid u were as smooth as a babies bottom. i like it!! keep the vids coming there really funny and educational (sort off).lol cheers!

  • My school does these every morning to! Cheers from Aomori !

  • Ha, ha! What better way to bring people together am I right? I actually wouldn't mind doing that at 5:30 AM. I think it would be...fun. I have to agree with you though Kevin. In gym class I'm always like, "BS man...this is ridiculous." And I just sit out the class. I still wouldn't mind doing this radio Taiso thing though.

  • i remember these, i had to do them everyday in elementary school :P

  • Totally emblematic! You described the whole thing perfectly; it is inspiring... maybe if you were to do that here (well, anywhere outside Japan) you could feel free from the "lemmingness" of it.

  • something a little 1984/Big Brother about this...

  • haha! I love your voice! it's so funny!

  • Love this. I think, it's a great idea. You should also talk about how being fat in Japan is against the law. Folks may find that odd bit of news fascinating.....and not for nothing...I also think THAT is a good idea, too. That shit would never fly in America though....

    :(

  • yea is good that my school is far so i walk every mornig

  • "these people are not...what's the word...oh, yeah FAT!!!!" LOL!

  • @wingedpaner00 ROFL

  • Wow i love your vids.

  • Haaaa! Cool! I actually have been doing Taiso for a while now! Lol! But I don't do it early in the morning. And since doing taiso I can almost touch my toes now! Which all of my life has been really hard for me to do! Lol! Also I notice I can bend easier now! I'm such a weirdo! Lol!

  • ※数、多!(゚Д゚)

    ラジオ体操ごときに何これ

  • GHQは長くこれを禁止したんだよなあ。

    反アメリカの危険な集会に見えたらしい。lol

  • Haha..the American attitude - "G'damn bullsh*t!"

  • I loved your sports announcer bit at the beginning....Sumiko the Destroyer!

  • Japanese elderly are just so darn adorable! Sounds like a good way to start your day I think. :) I liked watching you do the stretching and all too hehe.

  • Gosh kevin you are SOOOO skinny its scary! brillant video keep them coming! And its a good thing your okay from the earthqauke i hear.

  • cooney-san, you're getting so skinny!

  • He's always been.

  • I have been the same weight since High School. Im happy with my weight. But every day somebody says... "Did you lose weight?" No i havent! I have been the same weight for a decade. So seriously STFU. Its called DNA. But when I hit 40... I will miss these salad days of my trim sinew and bone body. Thats the curse of my DNA. At least till I hit 40 then, I guess I will plump out.

  • I don't know if its me you replied on. I atleast got a notification that you repied on my comment.

Well, I didn't say anything negative regarding your slim figure, I just said that you've ben slim probably since youth(which you just confirmed.)

Hell, im just the same! I Everytime im at the doctor, they say im underweight. But I am just geneticly thin, nothing special about it, just DNA. The same with MJ, people are screaming that he was so thin when he died... DUDES, he was ALWAYS that thin x)

  • Get your lemming on!

  • Okay you said that it was 5:30 am and it looks like the sun is up fairly high... is that typical? I live in New Mexico and the sun doesn't usuall look that high until 7:00am???

  • When I lived in Tokyo, in the summer, the sun shone in my eyes at like 4:30 in the morning. No daylight saving plus being on the eastern edge of their time zone accounts for it, I think.

  • I saw you on Japanese TV on an english lesson show. I cant remember what channel it was but i can say it was on one of the 8 channels we had total. ....I stayed in choshi, chiba for 3weeks and I want to thank you because I watched and learned from your broadcast. THANkS new yorker

  • lol! goddam youtube bullshit! ha!

  • That last one at 5:50 is always the one that confuses me and looks the funnest

  • Another fantastic video, Kevin. Keep up the good work and im looking forward to your next one.

    Great stuff!

  • My gym teacher in Elementary school used to gather the whole school in the gym and make us do stretches like that. o_o

  • youtube bullshit =[ but we love ya mate keep it up >:D

  • Oh, this is so precious. One of your best Cooney!

  • And what do they have our old people doing back in the states? Making macaroni pictures and bingo tournaments all day.

  • right on coonster, stretching is rad.

  • hey awesome :p im not the only one that calls him coonster ;D

  • I INVENTED COONSTER LOL

  • NUH UH wel u probly did it b4 me.. ive started shortening ppls names n putter ster at the end of them :P my cats name is Miki, it is now known as keester >:)

  • I DIDN'T invent the STER ending but we can start the "STER" trend. Cooney I've been calling you Coonster since "the tonberries" days(youtube it) can you call your next vid "Tokyo Coonster" to get this ball a rollin'

  • I love how every speaker bows, the crowd bows back, they say good morning and the crowd says good morning back. Very Japanese....so cute.

  • Ah, My Old Sensei Used to make me do those really strange "stretching" exercises. I never quite got it

  • wtf are they saying

  • It's the Hare Hare Yukai of radio taiso!

  • 3:31 girl you look good wont you back that ass up! lol Didnt know about the earthquake till now but good to see you're alright Cooney san =0)

  • look at the video "il grande vargio" is appalling!!!

  • lol man i missed out on that one xD

haha nice poop stance exercise cooney

  • Lol gotta love this stuff. Reminds me of the end of the movie Battle Royale. ^_^ Schools in America should just have us do THIS for gym class. Now that is not bullshit. :3

  • it seems everything media sounds like it comes from the NHK

  • I think this an interesting video :) I really wish we would do things like that in the United States :(

  • as long as the national stretching isn't like 1984, that'd be crazy.

  • 2:36 lolololol

  • Thanks for getting up early to record this video for us. As always, great vid!

  • Oh yeah, this was my requested video

  • fascinating.

I love how the stretching is going on in the background during your monologue.

  • Wait.. What??

Going up 05.30!? And the sun is up? Wow... Only in Japan.....

  • Not really. Just depends where you are in the world. lol

    It rises at 5ish here

  • I had to get up at 5:30 for 7 years...so I do NOT envy you. I'd be very grumpy at mother nature for puttng the sun up so early.

They say constant exercise like this PREVENTS arthritis and other joint malfunctions, so no wonder alot of nimble old folks are around...

  • OMG! I'm glad you're safe after the earthquake. Whew, it'll be terrible if it does it again next time. I hope not!

  • I have been watching your blogs for a month and I finally caught up from the beginning! Love your shows, one day, maybe I can live there.

    From Texas.

  • great video as usual!

  • wow i can barely get up at 8am let alone 5:30 ==" thats crazy i feel sorry for the kids that get dragged there by their grandparents hahahaha

  • this seems so legit at at at 12:30 am....

  • Big brother is watching you! Don't forget your daily physical jerks.

  • thanks for posting new vids. You are responsible for getting me interested in Japan. hope to visit someday!

  • I've heard of that before. It is a good idea, we Americans could learn a lot from the Japanese culture. They're obviously doing something right :P

  • yeah, everyone should install a megaphone structure in their backyards. :) 5:00

  • I always love watching your videos! Keep them coming!

  • Who wouldn't want to get up and stretch to that weird music at 5:30am!!!

  • Oh shit! yeah i heard about the earthquake. Was it really a 6.9? Judging from the "everything is ok" im guessing it wasn't that big. Glad to hear you ok Cooney!

  • The two big recent earthquakes were only 3-4 in Tokyo (the centers weren't on Tokyo area), so there wasn't any real damage done.

  • good to know :D

  • Geez thats hard core to be up the early in the morning... yes mega props to you Kev. You know that tell why Japanese people live so long. Good diet and exercise at 5:30 in the morning will do that to you im sure lol. i can tell you really didn't want to do that and im VERY happy for what you do for us. I love to learn every bit of Japanese culture that i can. Thanks Kev

  • Interesting video, but you really got up that early to get this? You could've slept longer for all I care x)

You should go to Fukuoka and visit the old places I used to hang out in, I miss them :(

  • major props to you for getting your ass up that early in the morning for all of us fools. Cute video, and again really interesting to know culture wise. Keep up the awesomeness, we appreciate it!

  • Haha! This is so great! Arigatou for being there ^^

  • Oho, how cute. :3

I would've gotten up early and joined in just for shits and giggles and to say I did it.

  • Such a wonderful language don't you think? I can't stop thinking that in 1 juste ONE year ill be living there, i can't (fucking) wait!!!!

  • I think it's a nice event for bringing together the citizens of Japan cause my outsider impression is that they're very to themselves (in the city) when no events are going on or they don't want to be bothered by flyer-givers, hosts or free hugs :D I don't think this would happen in London. It's too mellow. However, if it happened in Hyde Park I think some peeps would join in,, then run off laughing to their friendsthanks for the video hahaha Your left hook looking thing was nice

  • wow

i forgot how long i havnt exercised.

  • lol awesome

  • i'm glad you and kenji are okay! .. kenji more than you. ... juuustttt kidding. i hate when people do that. and i just did it. ...

    another video! so soon! wowzas!

  • im gald kenji is okay and u 2 :]

  • what could possibly have been said in all those speeches?

  • I love the commentary at the beginning. Sooo hilarious. Thanks for such a funny video ^_^.

btw it is really bright outside for 5.30 :D

  • GO TOKYO! COONEY! What the fuck is this?!?!? Oh... ok! You da man!

  • Heh. I could tell he was just doing what everyone else was doing.

    Good on you, cooney.

  • Stretching to the sound of a loud speaker is a little 1984-esque, but can 350 million Japanese be wrong?

  • Well... considering there's only around 127 million people in japan... they might!

  • u gotta stay fit

  • im glad kenji is okay and you too :)

  • Love it! and ya, I agree with the value and with the comment that Japanese elderly are spry. When I was in Tokyo I would be dying on all the stairs in the train stations, but the ojiisans just do it, man. They just do it. I'm not saying they looked all that genki doing it -- but they really just handle it with grace. :-) Awe inspiring.

  • LOL at the beginning speeches!! its so typical!! hahaha i had to wake up every morning for radio taiso during the summer vacation and get stamped coz thats how my teacher could prove i did the summer homework... some funny shit for elementary school kids

  • wow they sure do love their opening speeches

  • the exercising reminds me of in battle royale where kitano was exercising

  • do they do cock pushp-ups?

  • idk bout them but I DO!

  • earthquake? what earthquake?! ... nice video kevin! :D

  • why when i watch in HQ it's all laggy :(?

  • LOL those look like the morning aerobics on Animal Crossing.

  • haha the nerf football thing was funny as shit ahh i love america

  • ahh i have to do the radio taiso every morning before work!

one of the perks of working in a japanese company... or not!

  • wow its that bright outside at 5:30 am?

  • land of the rising sun

  • wow that last exerciese bit was .... enthusiastic?

    fight-o cooney-san! ^^

  • im totally doing that when i visit japan

  • Hey cooney, have you ever had your camera taken or stolen..? Just asking out of curiosity.

  • Im pretty sure that it wouldnt in japan as much in usa

  • lmao its so funny to watch you + all the old people

  • :) aha i loved the names you gave out!

    &

i think it would be an amazing idea for America to adopt the Radio Taiso, God knows america needs exercise the most --.--

  • god damn youtube bullshit!!!

  • Are you kidding me? That's the most horrific thing I've ever seen. How can you do this voluntarily? I had to turn off halfway through or I would have slit myself.

  • you love this you tube bullshit ... don't lie to us ...

  • I'm not so concerned as to why Cooney's up at such an ungodly hour, just why he didn't bother getting out of his pyjamas ;)

  • I laughed so hard when you gave out the nicknames. The Jacknife lmao.

  • Yeah the earthquake was pretty easy going this time around. I'm about 40 mins east and it registered 4.0. Mostly just sat on my pc and enjoyed the ride :)

  • Ranked number 1 in LIFE EXPECTANCY AT BIRTH is not Japan any more. Japan use to be number 1 but now it's number 3.

  • What excitement. I'd rather sniff a big bag of farts than go to an event like this seeking affirmation.

  • After having a crappy day, seeing you attempt to exercise made me laugh. :)

  • I saw the grass, I saw the people & I thought maybe Taiso meant "Lawn Bowls"...& that it was broadcast over the radio lol but yeah ok I was wrong : P

  • XD XD XD

  • BTW I love lawn bowls lol

  • Do they continue this exercise routine into the winter months? Is it something most people would do at home during those months?

  • love youre videos man, glad to hear you are okay after that earthquake=)

  • he he,, the guy in front of Cooney really worked up a sweat

  • 5 stars for your efforts. Otsukaresama

  • That seems fun, and a bit entertaining to do every morning.......then I wouldn't have to sleep in so late -_-

    Thx for the video

  • lmao you look like your doing Karate exercises at the end, glad your safe, thanks for the video

  • Don't lie, we all know you go there every morning.

  • When I first came to Japan, it was in the summer and I didn't know they would be broadcasting this exercise over the town speakers. My house is on a hillside with a speaker pointed straight at it. Of course I didn't find this out until I was woken up at 6:30am my first morning in the house by the loud voice of a Japanese man counting. Scared the crap out of me until I regained my senses and figured out what was going on. It's an interesting aspect of Japan, but a tad bit annoying.

  • 2:07 She must be Yuriko Koike who is a member of the House of Representatives.she's had a hard time to survive in an upcoming general election held on Aug.30.

  • Here in The U.S. they ride wheel chairs in the morning

  • How sweet of the Coon to.... Shit, I have nothing.

  • YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, finally!

  • sweet vid dude update SOON!

  • lol more that 10 opening statements for something as mundane as this seems unnecessary. And it does seem kind of like they're a crowd of loyal followers to that radio

  • Agreed... it is VERY easy to mock but it is a great idea. Interesting, no?

  • kevin cooney = great addition to YouTube!!!

  • Agreed. He's freaking awesome.

  • See if we can get more of your comedy in Kevin ;P. Atsui desu ne? Every year...

  • wow.... how OLD is that gold fish??

  • Really old I think.

  • if america does this it'll need to be a competition like who can stretch better then the other guy lol

  • hahahahaha.. it would.

  • It looks really funny, agreed, but I think it would be kinda cool to turn on the T.V. and just exercise to the radio/t.v. like that. Seriously, I'd do that :/ Great vid, glad to hear you and Kenji are doing alright!~

  • God damn Youtube bull shit. Ah men.

  • Amen. Ah men? wtf? Ahhh men, look at them stretch.

[Please don't comment back I'm just really bored.]

  • You apparently do not know how to understand context.

  • lmao

  • Yeah US totally needs this, except the cool kidz would opt out.

  • Thanks for the vid! Cool

  • Nothin' but pure awesome here, folks.

  • Damn you look like a twig. Also it's pretty sunny outside for 5:10am lol.

  • Ah, so good to hear from you so soon after that earthquake! Was a little worried, but now all is good. See you next Thursday, keep the vids coming! :D

    JapanFan

  • that old guy lmao

  • Ah man we just happened to have gone to kansai for a week when the earthquake happened...

  • Feel The Burn!!!

  • I wish America had this!

  • You make any topic interesting, thnx for the vidz and btw i hope you made it to your destination on friday night.

  • it may be look not cool at all but those exercises are one of few reasons why 90+ years old japanese people can run and play golf lol.. good video! lol

  • Haha, A funny, but seriously needed thing for the USA.

  • They should try to make it more exciting by adding some speed metal and American Gladiator-esque obstacles.

  • they STILL DO THAT?! woooooow

    lol thats hilarious

  • nice vid. feeling the j-love.

  • These exercises are on tv @ the same time as well, before the kiddie shows start on NHK. One of the things i noticed right away when i moved here is how incredibly independent and active the elderly are here compared to the U.S.

  • very nice video. I'm with Gaara7177 "Thanks for rising early for us"

  • didnt seem like u were catching onto the exercises there towards the end haha. u have a great way of making everything entertaining thanks coons another great vid

  • You should've narrated this as John Madden.

  • i love how you do it, make it look cool.

  • so thats why those asians live up to like 1000000 yrs.....

  • @shadedscript

    ignorant much?

  • i was obviously being sarcastic geeez lack of sense of humour much?

  • O I was that kid as well. ^^ Thanks for rising early for us.
