@RabNicht Scott didn't write music but the words are his right enough. There is a similar English song which predates this. I think this tune is Scottish rather than English. It certainly isn't Irish though! Scott seemingly originally wrote it as Hasendean (which is a wee hamlet in the Scottish Borders) but changed the title to Hazeldean as he thought it sounded more poetic!
Al O'Donnell used to sing this... slghtly different version ....fine song.
