@libbeingcool - I saw an interesting documentary on the film - Berkley would play various scenes (the dialogue scenes, mind you!!) in a variety of different ways, & the powers-that-be ended up using her most over-the-top takes in the final cut of the film.

@libbeingcool I think it was more than that. I think the reason the movie was hyped because it was directed by Paul Verhoeven, the same guy who worked on Robocop 1, Basic Instinct, and Total Recall. What's not as well known is that Starship Troopers is the only blockbuster movie he directed between 1993 and now.

Apart from what all the critics said, this was a great film, with a great soundtrack, and great dancing, the acting wasn't the best in the world, but overhall it was a great movie. They didn't like it because they are all pseudo-intelectuals who can't get laid, and can't stand to watch sex scenes.

SLBenficazz , are you nuts? I agree the dance numbers were great but other then that the movie was a stinker. Worst dialogue ever written, the two female leads overacted their hearts out. Nomi looked like she was having an epaleptic seizure whenever she had sex. And no, people don't dislike this movie because they can't get laid. Generally the people watching it and saying how great it is are the ones not getting any. I think it's a fun in a bad way movie. It's junk but it keeps you laughing.
