You are too nice man! Why do guys ask you questions and than argue when you don't tell them what they want to hear? Don't know how you put up with it.
US made guitars are a hype, quality is not consistent and they are overpriced. My 1985 jap strat and 2001 Yamaha SA2200 will outperform any US made guitar under $4000. Not many people like Ibanez's style but I can assure you the guitar Steve Vai plays, Jem 7V will sound as good as anything you play in this videos but nobody would dare to turn up at a Blues Jam with that guitar.
@BATHUMAN i play a japanese ibanez as well, its a perfect guitar. there is absolutely nothing bad i could ever say about it, and i would DIE if i ever had to sell it.
you have to remember, Epiphone semi's and semi hollows are excellent buys, upgrade the pups and wriring and instant killer. I just bought an Epi Casino, the tone is awesome without any mods, but it was the best out of 6 i tried! these are part of Epi's real heritage, they tend to make them better than their solids......
I agree that you may get better woods and wiring etc on a gibson, but going by tone, their isnt much in it with the best of Epi.
I just bought a new Sheridan II with sunburst finish. It was made in China and has as near to perfect construction and finish as I have seen on any guitar and the pickups sound wonderfull. I also have a Rickenbacker 325, Elitist Casino, Korean made Casino, Elitist Les Paul Standard and Baja Telecaster. The Elitist guitars and Sheridan II are my favorites, regardless of price. I have seen many Gibsons that don't come close, and many that have. Brand name isn't everything.
I firmly believe that being US made has nothing to do with quality, as each instrument is different. I've played some god-awful Gibsons that should not have even passed QC, while some of the best guitars I've ever played have been Epiphones.
A big name and even bigger price tag does not nececerraly mean the guitar is good.
Dude, I have Gibsons and Epiphones and they both play great. Fuck this gear snob! The Sheraton is awesome and will sound even better with those pickups.
Wow, nice tone. I have an Epiphone Sheraton II and was thinking of replacing the stock humbuckers with GFS Mean 90s, which are humbucker sized P-90s. Would this get me a similar sound to this?
Why not? Surely HB sized P-90s would have a similar sound to full sized ones (albeit not exact, but close). I'm not talking about getting the same tone as a Gibby 335 with real P90s through a vintage Fender, but the Sheraton is a 335 style guitar and through a good valve amp, the Mean 90s would have a similar sound, no?
@GregsGuitars Mahogany block, maple body, If you use the same pots and caps with a P94 not a GFS It would be very close. I am pretty sure the wood, metal and plastics dont know what country they were pressed, molded and bent in. With the exception of a quarter sawn neck and nitro instead of poly finish they are the same guitar sonically.
Such tasty lick

The 335 is one of the most versatile guitars available, the real waste would be to use it for only one single genre of music.
