This woman is not asking for attenion from men, she is not dancing around in a sparkly dress singing songs or acting provocatively. She is spreading her knowledge of Islam, which is what Allah asks of all Muslims. A'isha(raa) would often speak in front of men AND women and give lectures on Islam. Granted, she was covered, but covering your face is NOT mandatory in Islam. Looking at the Quran is fine, but you need the Sunnah just as much. Your ignorance is appalling.

That's fine, it's just that you hear from this video that she is distressed by all the preaching that comes with her trying to do something good. And I meant that while the Quran is extremely important, the Sunnah is just as important, as the Prophet (saw) explained the meanings of many verses, and has hadiths that go into many matters much more deeply than the Quran does. While d sunnah might b extremely important it in no way equals the qur'aan in stature, this because d qur'aan aint subject to a chain of narrations, while d sunnah is. That said, I wonder y u bring this up, It's not like I denied any aspect of sunnah. Any sahi hadith reaches us,our attitude should b "we hear & we obey" in accordance wid d verse:(portion of) 59:7: &whatsoever the messenger giveth u, take it &whatsoever he forbiddeth, abstain. &keep ur duty to Allah. My personal favorite insult (that I've received), was about how fat I am and if my cheeks got any bigger they would fail to fit in the screen! HAHA!
But I agree, sometimes the threats overstep boundaries and I've gotten some rather frightening ones as well. I don't know what they have in Canada, but in the USA you can report internet threats to the FBI-- and they do take it seriously.
Next time this sort of thing happens, I'm going to go straight to the authorities. I don't mind insults, or critical comments, but threats are things I take seriously.
And what's with people targeting women with insults against the superficial? It's almost like they think we're women, so we must be vain enough to care if someone calls us fat or ugly. Typical!

Yea, I know! I spent a good 20 minutes going around in circles trying to figure out how to contact someone at youtube. A brother in a stickam chatroom actually gave me a contact email to get in touch with them, though, so alhamdulillah. They really should work on being more available for these sort of complaints!

Some people are too emotional towards what they think they have verified to be their eutopic perception of islam through some unknown scholar at their local mosque or through some unknown website. So what if 99 out of a 100 cases are just sad little trolls; it's that 1 truly scary person that warrants taking the other 99 seriously and taking decisive action against ANY threats.

As for Youtube... I really can't imagine WHY they wouldn't at least reply to my complaint to tell me what happened. I understand that most internet threats are made due to "big internet bully" syndrome, but I still take it very seriously. I think anyone who threatens another is mentally unstable.
The less sait about them the better; they were two separate incidents but in both cases they posted YouTube videos before they did what they did. I'm sure you will have seen the news when it happened. One was in the USA, the other in Finland.
And you're right, the overwhelming majority of threats are by sad little trolls and can safely be ignored. But there is no clear giveaway sign that says THIS threat should be taken more seriously than the others. That's why YT should always take action.

Wa alaikumus salaam :) Alhamdulillah, my parents are actually great :) Before I moved away, they didn't know I was Muslim. But while I was living on my own, I told my mother.... so when I moved back, it was a bit of an adjustment. But now it's great. They know my dietary restrictions and try to keep pork out of the house entirely. Which I think is great of them to do for me :) Alhamdulillah, I'm blessed to have them.
And so true about the jerks. LOL. Some people just can't be reasoned with! :)
It's a general advice to anyone using the internet to not post any personal info, or anything that would help to identify them ... there are a lot of haters out there, and one weapon against them is 2 keep our freedom of expressing our ideas on internet by posting anonymously

And don't worry about so called muslim criticizers, just ignore them. It's easy to know when an advice is sincere & with good intentions
Yes... I actually went through many of my old videos and listened to see if I had dropped any personal details that might identify where I was located... and I put those videos on private just to be safe. I'll be much more cautious from now on, for sure!
And as far as the criticizers go, I'm trying hard not to take it personally. It's just such a contrast from who I am... as I try my hardest to judge no one but myself. Allahu alam. Some harshness might toughen me up :) Allah hafiz.
salam. I am glad you are still strong. I totally understand everything you are saying. Interstate death threats are a federal crime, don't forget. If anything ever happens, keep records and file police reports. Contact the FBI if you must. Continue to contact youtube. OMV knows who to contact. I wish you all the best whatever you decide. Those "Muslims" may not even be Muslim. I have been contacted by some who I suspect are not even actually Muslim. They make obvious mistakes.
Oh yeah and keep your chin up, carry a camera with you and a phone at all times. It scares them when you don't get scared, I think. There are a lot of veterans with unfortunate cases of PTSD from being in Iraq or Afghanistan who are used to using physical force to intimidate Muslims. I don't want to scare you. These people were once normal and I have compassion for their pain. I hope as many can recover as possible before they hurt someone else or hurt themselves.
I rarely go out alone now, anyway :) Not for any specific reason, but where I am now, we don't have public transportation, and I don't have a car. LOL. So it's perfectly fine. I doubt highly anyone would try anything on me when my dad is around, as he is a 6 foot 2 inch tower. :)

As for the prospect of those muslims not being actual Muslims, the thought did cross my mind. Sometimes I think people do that sort of thing to converts to try to make them feel alienated by their own, and make them leave youtube, or even Islam... but allahu alam!
curious... you say you use the koran as a reputable source. as a journalist do you find that objective, why or why not? what of other religious texts?
The statement about the source material for her videos was talking about her presentation of Islam in response to those Muslims who claim she is spreading misinformation about Islam, and she mentioned her experience with journalism as what prompts her to use at least three authoritive texts that Muslims will accept in explaining Islam, when it comes to specifically Islamic issues. Why would she use any other religious text to talk about say why Muslims wear hijab or how we fast in Ramadhan?
As Muslimah22307 stated, I was speaking about sourcing the information in my videos, which were about Islam. None of my videos discussed comparative religion, or things not-specific to Islam. So yes, I would say that is quite objective. If I was using the Bible to explain Kosher and non-Kosher food, then I'd have to admit to lack of objectivity. But my videos were about hijab(in Islam), war (in Islam), women (in Islam), polygamy(in Islam), etc.

This woman is not asking for attenion from men, she is not dancing around in a sparkly dress singing songs or acting provocatively. She is spreading her knowledge of Islam, which is what Allah asks of all Muslims. A'isha(raa) would often speak in front of men AND women and give lectures on Islam. Granted, she was covered, but covering your face is NOT mandatory in Islam. Looking at the Quran is fine, but you need the Sunnah just as much. Your ignorance is appalling.

Also you may want to know the sunnah never goes against the qur'aan, it only conforms to and enacts the qur'aan. I also never did say covering the face was mandatory. That's fine, it's just that you hear from this video that she is distressed by all the preaching that comes with her trying to do something good. And I meant that while the Quran is extremely important, the Sunnah is just as important, as the Prophet (saw) explained the meanings of many verses, and has hadiths that go into many matters much more deeply than the Quran does. While d sunnah might b extremely important it in no way equals the qur'aan in stature, this because d qur'aan aint subject to a chain of narrations, while d sunnah is. That said, I wonder y u bring this up, It's not like I denied any aspect of sunnah. Any sahi hadith reaches us,our attitude should b "we hear & we obey" in accordance wid d verse:(portion of) 59:7: &whatsoever the messenger giveth u, take it &whatsoever he forbiddeth, abstain. &keep ur duty to Allah. The Qu´ran aint subject to a chain of narrators? Then why does it have entire chains of narrators?
Even to the point of who did the Arabic writing?
The Qu´ran is even called .Mushaf Uthamn, or collection of pages from Uthman.
Who heard it from who heard it from who heard it from who heard it from who heard it from the prophet.
Your Qu´ran does not have more historical legitimacy as do the hadith but came about through exactly the same method.

It was never easy to spread Islam... Can you imagine how many death threats and attempts did the Prophet (PBUH) and his companions had experienced? SubhanAllah. If I were you, I'd be happy that I'm one of those people. :) But yet again, I'm not too sure how I'd react till I am in that situation..
I really doubt that these people would do anything because it's all behind computer screens and everybody is brave to say whatever then.

My personal favorite insult (that I've received), was about how fat I am and if my cheeks got any bigger they would fail to fit in the screen! HAHA!
But I agree, sometimes the threats overstep boundaries and I've gotten some rather frightening ones as well. I don't know what they have in Canada, but in the USA you can report internet threats to the FBI-- and they do take it seriously.

also, note that Youtube does NOT give you a way to report a threat... you can report sexual blablabla, nudity, etc but you can't report threats... you have to email them... they really should offer that option on their site 'cause many of us are getting threats

Yea, I know! I spent a good 20 minutes going around in circles trying to figure out how to contact someone at youtube. A brother in a stickam chatroom actually gave me a contact email to get in touch with them, though, so alhamdulillah. They really should work on being more available for these sort of complaints!
And yes, I def. meant a drink of water... LOL. I realized how that sounded when I listened to this video after, but I figured you'd all know what I meant :-)

What you said at 6:50 is exactly what I've been through. So bottom line dont care what other people think. Some people are too emotional towards what they think they have verified to be their eutopic perception of islam through some unknown scholar at their local mosque or through some unknown website. So don't let what they say bother you or get you sidetracked from your soul search. What comes out of your own mind is what you should follow and not someone else's ideologies. Good luck.

I can't believe that a threat to your life was dealt with in such a blasé manner. After Cho and Pekka you'd think that YouTube would take threats seriously. So what if 99 out of a 100 cases are just sad little trolls; it's that 1 truly scary person that warrants taking the other 99 seriously and taking decisive action against ANY threats.

I'm afraid to ask what the story of Cho and Pekka is... I never actually heard of it. What happened?
As for Youtube... I really can't imagine WHY they wouldn't at least reply to my complaint to tell me what happened. I understand that most internet threats are made due to "big internet bully" syndrome, but I still take it very seriously. I think anyone who threatens another is mentally unstable.

The less sait about them the better; they were two separate incidents but in both cases they posted YouTube videos before they did what they did. I'm sure you will have seen the news when it happened. One was in the USA, the other in Finland.
And you're right, the overwhelming majority of threats are by sad little trolls and can safely be ignored. But there is no clear giveaway sign that says THIS threat should be taken more seriously than the others. That's why YT should always take action.

Wa alaikumus salaam :) Alhamdulillah, my parents are actually great :) Before I moved away, they didn't know I was Muslim. But while I was living on my own, I told my mother.... so when I moved back, it was a bit of an adjustment. But now it's great. They know my dietary restrictions and try to keep pork out of the house entirely. Which I think is great of them to do for me :) Alhamdulillah, I'm blessed to have them.
And so true about the jerks. LOL. Some people just can't be reasoned with! :)

It's a general advice to anyone using the internet to not post any personal info, or anything that would help to identify them ... there are a lot of haters out there, and one weapon against them is 2 keep our freedom of expressing our ideas on internet by posting anonymously
And yes as AMG said, report that guy to the police.
And don't worry about so called muslim criticizers, just ignore them. It's easy to know when an advice is sincere & with good intentions

Yes... I actually went through many of my old videos and listened to see if I had dropped any personal details that might identify where I was located... and I put those videos on private just to be safe. I'll be much more cautious from now on, for sure!
And as far as the criticizers go, I'm trying hard not to take it personally. It's just such a contrast from who I am... as I try my hardest to judge no one but myself. Allahu alam. Some harshness might toughen me up :) Allah hafiz.

salam. I am glad you are still strong. I totally understand everything you are saying. Interstate death threats are a federal crime, don't forget. If anything ever happens, keep records and file police reports. Contact the FBI if you must. Continue to contact youtube. OMV knows who to contact. I wish you all the best whatever you decide. Those "Muslims" may not even be Muslim. I have been contacted by some who I suspect are not even actually Muslim. They make obvious mistakes.

Oh yeah and keep your chin up, carry a camera with you and a phone at all times. It scares them when you don't get scared, I think. There are a lot of veterans with unfortunate cases of PTSD from being in Iraq or Afghanistan who are used to using physical force to intimidate Muslims. I don't want to scare you. These people were once normal and I have compassion for their pain. I hope as many can recover as possible before they hurt someone else or hurt themselves.

I rarely go out alone now, anyway :) Not for any specific reason, but where I am now, we don't have public transportation, and I don't have a car. LOL. So it's perfectly fine. I doubt highly anyone would try anything on me when my dad is around, as he is a 6 foot 2 inch tower. :)
But I totally understand your warnings. Unfortunately the US government has cut funding to the medical/psychological evaluation of vets returning home after serving. It really is a huge issue for them. Salaam.

Salaam sister. Unfortunately, I'm Canadian, so I'm not sure what our laws are here. It's something I should look into. Although when the threat happened, I was in the US. I didn't know where the guy was situated though.
As for the prospect of those muslims not being actual Muslims, the thought did cross my mind. Sometimes I think people do that sort of thing to converts to try to make them feel alienated by their own, and make them leave youtube, or even Islam... but allahu alam!

The statement about the source material for her videos was talking about her presentation of Islam in response to those Muslims who claim she is spreading misinformation about Islam, and she mentioned her experience with journalism as what prompts her to use at least three authoritive texts that Muslims will accept in explaining Islam, when it comes to specifically Islamic issues. Why would she use any other religious text to talk about say why Muslims wear hijab or how we fast in Ramadhan?

As Muslimah22307 stated, I was speaking about sourcing the information in my videos, which were about Islam. None of my videos discussed comparative religion, or things not-specific to Islam. So yes, I would say that is quite objective. If I was using the Bible to explain Kosher and non-Kosher food, then I'd have to admit to lack of objectivity. But my videos were about hijab(in Islam), war (in Islam), women (in Islam), polygamy(in Islam), etc.
