  • after trying different foundations and powders, i finally tried the True Match powder for the first time 6 months or so ago, and I'm in LOVE!!! I have oily skin, which would come through my powder 2 hrs later. To combat that, I used Milk of Magensia as a primer and it works great!!! I purchased the compact makeup yesterday and I LOVE it as well. I don't think I'll be using any other brand..thnx for the review

  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this foundation!! I love the powder as well. The concealer could be better -- it's somewhat cakey, BUT it does cover very well.

I'm sticking with this one, as it seems like it will also be a great foundation in the summer, when other things i've used have just melted off my skin.

TIP TO EVERYONE OUT THERE: USE A PRIMER UNDER THIS to make it last even longer. L'Oreal Studio Secrets primer is very, very good. :)

  • This foundation is great! I have dry skin, and it looks glorious on me. My sister has oily skin and I tried it on her and she looked flawless! It is, in fact, a true match for any skin tone OR type.

  • Omg I luv this foundation . It works great with my skin and I do recommend it to everyone if u haven't tried it. :) I have w2 as my color and I didn't use the shade guide it's pretty easy to know which would work best for u

  • is this foundation transfer resistant?

  • I just bought his in the compact and I really like it. I have combination skin. I get oily in t zone .

  • I love that foundation! I'm a big fan of Loreal's hair color also.U have pretty skin.:)

  • Hello, I am wondering how you get both the loreal true match and the revlon color stay to last long, like basically what is your foundation routine? thank you!

  • would the compact foundation be okay for oily skin?

  • it actually gives me great coverage and a little goes a long way. it has not made me oily and it gives me a really nice glow. it's also easy to remove. it also dried quickly for me and was very much buildable. i use my hands to apply it. i use a little at first and spread it all over my skin and then come back and put it on the individual spots that need extra coverage. i finish it with a translucent powder. i think everyone should give this line of makeup by loreal a try.

  • @therapeutics23 Awesome! Thanks for your take on the product! I appreciate you sharing your experience with it!

  • great review! i subbed. =) and am going to try the compact foundation. thanks!

  • how about the coverage of that foundation?

  • The coverage is pretty good. Buildable, for me. However, I don't feel that it covers acne or spots well. I feel it works best for people that don't have acne issues. I do like the compact best for summer, because it doens't feel greasy. The liquid worked for me in the fall/winter months best, because it doesn't have the powder finish. Of course, I have oily skin. I feel the results depend on your skin type. If you have more questions, let me know! :) Thanks!!!

  • Woo :D i really want to get the liquid but i just hope it will be blendable enough to go over my breakouts because i usually find it hard to blend foundations over them just looks stupid :(

  • I know how you feel. I am currently battling adult acne and finding a foundation that doesnt just cake up and look like crap is difficult! Honestly, I have yet to find one. I used the true match before the acne started again. Mac Moistureblend seemed to work okay and right now I am using rimmel stay matte. It is okay, but still doesn't give great coverage. So I stopped trying and got Proactiv! :)

  • Love the liquid and am not happy at all with the compact version.

  • What is it about the compact foundation that you don't like? See, i am quite the opposite, I like the compact, but the liquid is a bit greasy feeling for me after a couple of hours. :S What is your skin type? That may have something to do with it?

  • I'm normal/comb. The liquid has small shimmers that make my skin look beautiful. It's not super long wearing but it's fine with me. The compact brought out dry areas that i didn't even know I had :S I don't even have smile lines but the compact made me look like I had some. This is definitely not for dry, normal or combination skin. I think this would work best on oily skin. And the shade W4 color is not the same as in my liquid version.

  • I think you are totally right. I do like the finish on the liquid, but I find I have to blot a LOT more often throughout the day. :( I ALSO found the shades were different between the two. I have purchased many different colors over time and have discovered the same thing.

Thanks for letting everyone know your experiences! :)

  • The sad thing is that the compact W4 matches my skin tone better. Have you tried the Revlon Photoready. It looks dewy but is matte to the touch. Has really nice coverage. It has those little shimmers too. Helps control oils too. I just purchased it. I really like it so far.

  • The photoready is on my list to buy. I went to 3 different CVS to get it last week because with rewards and the sale price, I couldve got the found and powder for $4.99 each! Well, NONE of the stores I went to had it! Made me mad! I try to only purchase drugstore makeup when it is on sale or I have a coupon, just in case it doesn't work for me. I WILL be trying the revlon and doing a review as soon as possible! :)

  • my drugstore has no shade guide i think only in u.s. they have it.... but my drugstore has a bit of high end stuff so they have like a makeup artist type person working there and she matched me perfectly

  • Awesome! There was only one drugstore in my town that had a shade guide. I am wondering if it is only put on certain set ups. I am glad you had someone to help you out! This foundation comes in tons of colors so it can be tricky, but you will get a great match compared to others!

  • cuz i saw MichellePhan's vid on this product and she was raving on how its so easy to use the shade guide. I went to the store and no shade guide.

  • i just got it yesterday and tried it on...i totally agree with u!! i got the compact and its amazing...i usually use a powder because i dont like liquid and i thought i got the powder compact but the foundation compact still is amazing!! im glad i made a mistake by grabbing the wrong 1 :)

  • Im glad you ended up liking it!! I just love that it has a powder finish...those are my most favorite types of foundations. I have oily skin, so anything that leaves a greasy feel is uncomfortable to me!

  • I love all loreal makeup it works so well for me I dont like revlon an loreal dont look like you have on makeup I have the whole line

  • do you think the liquid foundation would als work well on dry skin?

  • I believe the liquid would be better on dry skin than the compact makeup would be. I have had some people tell me they have had issues with both and some that say they love them both like I did...people with all dif skin types! My suggestion: use a primer for your skin-type & always remember a little goes a long way with liquid foundation. Also purchase this from a place like ulta so if you don't like it you can return for a store credit! I truly believe found is all about trial & error4 most!

  • Did you always wear a primer under the compact foundation? I bought the compact foundation 2 days ago and I've tried it twice w/o a primer and it was sooo drying!!! After applying, it made it look like small pieces of my skin was peeling (from the dryness). And mind you, I have REALLLY OILY SKIN!!! loll That's what I thought was weird.

I'm going to try it with a primer a few times and see if it's better. Do you know any good drugstore primers btw?

  • So this is the crummy thing about mu in general...it is dif for everyone & that sucks! I wish when I said things work awesome for me, they would work awesome 4 everyone!

OK this is how I do it. I always use a primer under any foundation. Drugstore brand: Rimmel (approx $7), its great! Plus I make sure to apply a nice thin layer. This foundation doesn't seem to build very well & I should have said that, but I have learned more as I have used it more. At first, I hated it but kept trying...

  • Try using your round or wedge wet. Sometimes that helps! Personally, I found a brush worked terribly for me, but that is just me. I like using a cosmetic round, dry, only applying a small amount in sections, starting from my nose, working out, blending well as I go. I will be doing a foundation routine vid soon to show my application techniques. Keep your eye out for that one, it may help more with this foundation! I hate that you are having issues, but my philosophy is to not give up! :)

  • Thanks for the tips! I tried it again with a primer and it was still very drying and made my skin look like it was peeling! Maybe I picked a defective product (or an old/expired one?)...hmm..I always ponder that whenever a much raved about product doesn't work for me. loll Anyway, I brought it back exchanged it for something else, so it's all good. =)

  • I am just glad you were able to exchange it!!!

  • I was wondering about the blendable compact. is that what goes over the foundation or is the other loreal powder supposed to go on top of the blendable compact

  • Hey! Great question!! The blendable compact is a foundation. It is a creamy compact consistancy...hmmm, sorta like mac's compact foundations. You can then use the pressed tru match powder as a set over it! I have even used mineral foundation to set to even out my color/skintone. If you have anymore questions, feel free!! Im here everyday! :)

  • I have a birthmark I would like to cover, but haven't been successful in fiindin a concealer/fpundation that gives thick enough and good coverage, plus I;m Black...so it's kind of hard for me to find a brand that carries my shade...do you think the compact would give good enough coverage?

  • Thanks for the question! I think it would all depend on how dark the birth mark is. If it is very darkly pigmented, you may need to try something with a bit heavier coverage. I find this helps with spots/scarring but I dont know how it would work for a very dark birth mark. Have you considered saving the money & going with something like Sudio Fix from MAC? That foundation provides phenomenal coverage plus they offer a nice array of colors. Im going to research more and see what I find 4 u!

  • avtually I have vitiligo, which makes makes a spot lighter on my skin...and I can't find something that covers it fully without the lighter skin showing through,...so it;s kind of like a birthmark.

By the way, how much is Studio Fix...and could it be found at a sephora?

  • One of my friends in high school suffered with the same skin condition. I know it can be tough to deal with, but I have been doing some looking for you and have some additional information I am going to message you with! :) Go check your inbox if you have not already! :)

  • do NOT get the shade buff beige!!! it makes you orange like a pumpkin!

  • That's why I made sure to go to a store that had a shade match guide in the store. Everyone that I have taken over to that particular store to let them match themselves have had no issues. It really always boils down to getting the proper shade in cool, warm, or neutral. If your skin doesn't have the tone that the "orange" tone in the foundation will cancel out...that is the outcome you will end up with. I am SO sorry you had issues! Take that sucker back! :)

  • I am going to get that compact TODAY!!! Thank you! :)

  • You are MORE than welcome! One of the drugstores in town has Loreal on sale for BOGO or B1G1 half off...can't remember which tho...sorry! That def makes these products cheaper!!! :) Let me know what you think! Oh and I know that Rite Aid has the shade guide. Walmart doesn't tho...if you are unsure of your shade...go there! Hell, they always have killer sales anyhow! :)

  • great videos we need more drugstore reviews.

  • You are right...some weeks, I just don't have the cash to order from sephora or go to ulta/mac! Let me get my fix from walgreens as long as the product is worth it!
