  • This version is played by Makaha Sons with Robi singing it. It's on their album: Live on the Road. The song is on Itunes, but its slower. I think they sped the song up.

  • Te no'o nei au - sistah robi

  • @Marielm77 or anyone that knows!! Where can I find this version?? I have sister robi's album and it's much slower an longer.. I like this version cuz it's a faster song and I like it.. Anyone??? Lol

  • @bluckahts that's the same version I have also. TeVakaNui danced at Sister Robi's concert years back, and I was told that this version was recorded for that concert (perhaps so that the group had music to practice to prior to the concert??). But as far as I know, this version was not officially released.

  • uuu nice:)

  • ahhhh i used to be in the jr girls group!!I was in there for like 1 or 2 years!!

  • you know!!!! Cook island, Tahiti, Hawaii.... who gives the fuck bout' it, boys and girls this is our culture and we should fucken' love each and embrace our culture..... WE ARE POLYNESIAN PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT FUCKEN' POLY'HATERS!!!! I just cant stand it anymore, sorry bitch's someone gotta say it.....

  • Well said!

  • amen to that! plus their isn't a girl like a poly girl!

  • Each island also has it's own individual culture as well, don't forget it, but we shouldn't fight, we're alot similar than different =)

  • `kia orana wheres my uncle brother love

  • oh thats right cook islandz dont open their legs when danciing

but iit a beautiful cook island song

  • well, these days, cooks dance like tahitians, so no difference wether the legs are ''closed or not''!

  • correction, these days cooks dance like cooks and tahitians still dance like tahitians, and there is a large difference, for instance the legs, in reference to women, cooks view open legs as been screwed the night before or all the nights, there is, hence tahitian women are seen loose, with the elaborate wide legs movements, this is the view of the 50's and 60's and prior which has stuck since. cooks are returning to their roots of flat foot rather than the tahitian on toe travel.

  • Comment removed

  • @Gille87 u know, slut, or the cooks will refer to as koera tena ura, o koerara te vaevae, which hints shes probably got layed last night or sometime for that matter.

So, becos tahitians movements has great emphasis on their leg travel, extension, and on toes, theres this idea, tahitian women are loose even though they are not.

  • @timzes mauruuru roa for the info timzez...

  • FINALY some real dancers! they give us polynesian dancers pride!!!. verry good and in sync. loved it =]

  • perfect! nice song..never heard in a while!

  • Just wandering if theres any dvds or cds out of this group, would love to see more!!!

  • Unfortunately, there are none at this time.

  • Best hula dancing i've seen in awhile, i also love to hula, and appreciate the art, thumbs up to ya gurls, simply magnificent, the unity was perfect, keep up the good work!!!!

  • hehe Iaorana. sorry but it's not hula, but thaitian ori. Hula is what they have in Hawaii=) And why I know it's Tahitian cuz of the dance style of the vahines, and Cooks do not travel on toe movements, the Tahitians does^^

    Mauruuru

  • For educational purposes, hula and ori are symnonyms for Hawaiian and Tahitian native dance. There is a Tahitian Dance Competition in California called Hura Tahiti. Cook Islanders refer to the indegenous dance as ura, ori, koni, and ingo.

  • @arekaivananga Ura in the Cook Islands, Hura in Tahiti, and Hula in Hawai'i!

  • *ahem* marie... would it be in bad taste to forward this to the... 'wreckers'?? LMAO This would give them an idea of how REAL dancers perform ;-)

  • beautiful job vahines!!

  • damn all da gurls here go together on da same beat...n they all can dance n shake thea booties...love it... big thumbs up!

  • Back in 1993 when Sista Robi covered this song, it was the most popular song on the radio. Every channel played it constantly. No disrespect to the original, but I liked Sista Robi's version a bit better. Great dancing ladies!

  • No disrespect to Limeysack and Sista Robi but there is a value called courtesy that requires us to acknowledge the source and the original composer. Dissemination of misleading information leads to misinformation. We want to educate the members of the halau as well as those who reads this on the web.

  • Of course, of course! All credit should be given to the original composer:) If it weren't for him, then we wouldn't have such a beautiful song today. I never meant that the original is bad or credit should go to someone else or anything, I just like Robi's version because I associate many fond memories with it...moonlit beaches with my Cook Island friends, singing at the top of our lungs, dancing, etc. I've heard several other versions, including the original, and they are ALL beautiful.

  • Meitaki maata for clarifying and I appreciate the love you all share and enjoy. May they continue to grow in this new Avaiki via this medium with the aroa from the islands and the mana that is the outrigger to afloat the vaka purua. May the halau and the students be enriched with the vananga of cultural values and customs of home. May they be true and righteous. May they bloom with beauty and fragrance like the tiare maori that gradle Ikurangi. Kia tupu e kia ruperupe. Kia orana e kia manuia.

  • man this video rocks!!! the dancing is superb, best bit of hura i've even seen. tahitian dancing doesn't even come close to being this good. no disrespect to the tahitians... i guess i'm jst biased.lol. sum of my best friends are cook islanders. hahahaha.

  • @taleit matter of taste! I'd say this is Tahitian steps to a Kuki Airani song! FINITO!

  • Hello since I can say tevakanui is a worthy representative of the Polynesian culture, I also study here in east Mexico type of dance and have very good technique and that they love what dance. congratulation kumu ivette

  • They are true representative of the polynesian culture. The kumu's are originally from the cook islands and hawaii. So they specialized more on the cook island dances. So this is the TRUE COOK ISLAND STYLE SISTAH. Thanks for the comment wasnt trying to be rude but wanted to let you know that they were the REAL THING.

  • I love this song! Awesome choreography too! Unfortunately for me there aren't too many halaus in Boston :(

  • this dance is super hard..man, one time at practice aunty yvette made me dance it and i was so out of breath. hah i cant wait to get back to u guys. :]

  • that was very good choreographing

  • That was beautiful. Lots of cute moves, great dancers, and pretty costumes.

  • this is so beautiful! i love it. what song is that? their actions go so well with the song. 2 thumbs up girls!

  • omg....i'm super jealous!! i seriously want to learn how to shake my hips like this!

  • I Love Polynesian Women! I am a Native American, with high hopes that one day I'll marry a Polynesian woman. :)

  • dass cute!!! mann, lubb it

  • QUE LINDO EL BAILE

  • wats da song called to this aparima?

  • Te'e No'o Nei Au...by Sista Robi:-]

  • The song "Te Noo Nei Au" (I am sitting) is composed by Rahui Vaka of the Cook Islands. He is better known as Brother Love in the Cook Islands, New Zealand, Tahiti, Australia, and Hawai'i. Sista Robi is not the composer of the song and not all singers knows how to compose a song especially a non-Cook Islander such as Sista Robi to compose a Cook Islands song such as Te Noo Nei Au.

  • this was good! much props to the dance instructor
