  • love this song 17 years old and i love it

  • Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned. Song of Solomon 8:7

  • This the best of all country music songs, proves that the girls south of the border, down mexico way, have an attraction like no others!! This is at present my now playing video and it's in my favourites and playlists too!! The choice and sequence of pictures works perfectly!!

  • Nice channel with such a diverse selection of music! Thanks for subscribing!

  • I was standing in a store somewhere on the way to Mississippi for my brother's funeral when I heard it announced that Marty Robbins had died. I stood there, in the store, and cried my eyes out. One of the greatest country stars had died. This song is my favorite.

  • This old countrystuff was more like a story to music, I love it.

  • one of the greatest country and western songs ever , REAL MUSIC

  • 25 people with no taste!

  • Brilliant song by Mr Marty Robbins, I remember singing and dancing to this with my Dad, I'm playing it now on speaker's & my Dad's off and running with his voice, not bad for 80 years young. Thank you for sharing this gem....Cal

  • Marty Robbins was one of the greatest singer ,he began singing in the early 50;'s untill his death in Dec. 1982..

  • im 35 my dad is 80,he just requested this song, good music!

  • @davidmunsell333 some stuff just can't be beaten. Hats off to your dad.

  • @909830 troll

  • i have wondered what felina looked like since i first heard this song, hmmmm

  • Marty Robbins has made music that will be celebrated and enjoyed by so many people for years too come. Today's country just doesn't have the substance of the years past. Marty's music, and many other artists of the time gave you a deep down honest feeling when you listened.

  • When one listens to a classic song like this, one can easily picture in their mind what the lyrics are describing. With a cowboy song of a scene based in the southwestern US, clothes of the old west would come to mind and not mid 20th century clothes as shown in some of the photos.

This video needs a little more "tightening" to match the greatness of the song.

  • Back in 1961 radio stations were not permitted to play songs that ran so long. This version was the exception!

  • That's quite a set of hoots at 2:32. Boomin'!

  • The song itself, Mr Robbins voice, the rest of the musicians, the production and recording quality, -this recording is perfect.

  • any one think of fallout?

  • i just noticed that i have been singing that song for over 25 yrs AND NEVER REALLY KNEW WHAT THE HELL I WAS SINGING UNTIL JUST NOW? WTF IS THAT ALL ABOUT? LOL,

funny how they can take a horrific act , and make it sound so beautiful lol

  • Marty is my greatest influence, he was and is the greatest Balladeer of all time. A truly brilliant songwriter and a magnificent Voice!

  • omg could marty ever sing love his ballads

  • I remember hearing this song back in the early sixties played on am radio my mother would play as me&my 2 younger brothers were put to bed.

  • This song keeps going through my head! One of the best songs and Marty Robbins was a good singer too.

  • Brilliant and beautiful. A masterpiece.

  • am i the only teenager that likes marty robbins and his typa music??

  • R.I.P Jerry Allen 2-17-12

  • My brother is big into history and he told me that the man in this song was hunted mostly because he stole a horse, not because he killed the other guy. Kinda interesting, makes you wonder what might have happened if he didn't take the horse.

  • Sweet old song. Brings back memories.

  • Te estrano Krystal. I only chose German as a foreign language because hearing Spanish only makes me think of you.

  • my dad never got back r.i.p. dad

  • Here's the lesson to learn from this song: Never fall in love with a girl named "Wicked Felina!"

  • How the heck could anyone "dislike" this beautiful, emotional balland?

  • Min kammerat Per nielsen fra Brønderslev havde denne udgave. Vi hørte den igen og igen

  • Remembering the beauty of Cpl. Sanchez at the Enlisted Club in Guam...and hanging out with my buddy Kevin Sunderman...REST IN PEACE KEV.

  • I am in my early 30s and grew up listening to marty robbins with my grandmother. I listen to many music genres now, everything from hip hop to punk to country, but this music always reminds me fondly of my grandmother. My 8 & 5 year old now listen with me & nothing brings me greater joy than hearing my oldest little girl singing along to el paso.

  • I used to visit my dad about every two weeks when he got to be 80. You know...might die, and stuff...well, this song was playing about half the time I'd knock on his door. He couldn't hear me knocking, so there I stood in the hallway and waited until Marty had his say. It was cool. Notice the articulate clarity, perfect tone and joy of life in the man? You can practically hear the smile and see the wink...

  • The lyrics are pure poetry. but with the music it's an amazing work or art.

  • I remember listening to this with my dad back in the late 70s... I'm an old punk but my roots are in REAL agaiin I say REAL coutry music...... They don't make em like this anymore.

  • @alaznist Your dad was nursing when this song came out. It's really more western than country. Glad you enjoy it, it's a great song.

  • Not quite, He was a teenager but close. Alot of my favorites are from when my Dad was a kid... I've turned him onto a few tunes from back then.

  • @alaznist

AMEN TO THAT!!! gentleman jim, patsy cline.......

  • This song sure has a western feel to it. Not many songs from the 60's were 4 minutes long. Most of them were only 2 minutes long. This was an exception.

  • Its strange does anyone have the feeling to play RED DEAD REDEMPTION

  • @skate2274 no this song makes me wanna kill my ex's boyfriend

  • @skate2274 yes

  • @skate2274 YES YES YES!

  • @skate2274 lol,, kinda

  • @skate2274 lol I always listen to this sort of tune whilst shootin em up in pikes basin and crooked toes lmao

  • @skate2274 psssh

  • @skate2274 "Out in the West Elizabeth town of Blackwater, I fell in love with an Indian girl. Night time would find me in Ross' Canteena. Music would play and Layleena would whirl. Blacker than night were the eyes of Layleena, wicked and evil while casting her spell. My love was deep for this Indian maiden. I was in love but in vain I could tell. One night a wild young cowboy came in, wild as New Austin wind. Dashing and daring a, drink he was sharing with wicked Layleena the girl that I loved.

  • @XiahouDun1225 So in anger I challenged his right for the love of this maiden, down went his hand to the gun that he wore. My challenge was met in less than a heartbeat, the handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor. Just for a moment I stood there in silence, shocked by the foul evil deed I had done. Many thoughts raced through my head as I stood there, I had but one chance and that was to run. Out through the backdoor of Ross' I ran, out where the horses were tied.

  • @XiahouDun1225 I caught a good one it looked like it could run, up on it's back and away I did ride, just as fast as I could from the West Elizabeth town of Blackwater, out to the badlands of New Austin. Back in Blackwater my life would be useless, everything's gone in life nothing is left. It's been so long since I've seen the young maiden, my love is stronger than my fear of death. I saddled up and away I did go, riding away in the dark.

  • @XiahouDun1225 Maybe tomorrow a bullet may find me tonight nothing's worse than this pain in my chest. And at last here I am on the hill overlooking Blackwater I can see Ross' Canteena below. My love is strong and it pushes me onward down off the hill to Layleena I go. Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys, off to my left wide a dozen more. Shouting and shooting I can't let them catch me. I have to make it to Ross' backdoor.

  • @XiahouDun1225 Something is dreadfully wrong for I feel a deep burning pain in my side. Though I am trying to stay in my saddle, I'm getting weary unable to ride. But my love for Layleena and I rise where I've fallen, though I am weary I can't stop to rest. I feel the white puff of smoke from the rifle, I feel the bullet go deep in my chest. From out of nowhere Layleena has found me kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side.

  • @XiahouDun1225 Cradled by dear loving arms that I'll die for, one fair old kiss and Layleena goodbye."

How's that for a parody!? Heheh

  • i am 37 this song will always be awesome

  • i am a 19 year old jamaican, and i've loved this song since i was about 15,the first time i heard it.

  • well at least she kissed him, most girls would give them a christian side hug

  • What a wonderful song so well composed, harmonized and sung.

Glad I found it after so many years.

  • to the person commenting on their na nas funeral i am deeply saddened. i lost my grandma recently and am still totally devastated. we played on the wings of a snow white dove; a truly beautiful song for a beautiful women bless u and youre family

  • A lot of these C&W songs celebrate STUPID behavior: Get angry because some Mexican prostitute pays attention another man, kill the guy, steal a horse, live in the sticks for awhile, and then come back and risk getting killed to see a chick who clearly wasn't that into you in the first place.

  • i want to see justin bobo take a lap around the big "D",,he would have a racing stripe,,in his diaper...marty is a music and racing hero to me,,just the opion of a old dirt track racer

  • My favorite Country & Western song.

  • sad yet beautiful song. i love the guitar work in the song aswell.

  • Felina is really a B.M.W.

  • the best country music star of all time , marty robbins is the best , nobody can touch him , when you talk country MUSIC , YOU TALK TEXAS AND AMERICA, AND STILL TODAY THE GREATEST MUSIC COMES FROM THE BORDER , FROM CONFLICT COMES GREATNESS , IF MEXICO WAS NOT ON THE BORDER WITH THE USA , THEN THER WOULD NOT BE A USA

  • @MrSlainte1 it would still be the U.S.A. the us would just be alot bigger lol

  • @dumdumalex256 and please ignore my little brothers name on here lol hes a goof sometimes

  • I have never heard this song. it`s really cool. thx

  • I sang this at a birthday party for a very nice woman named Alina and she got a big laugh when I ended the song with "Alina goodbye."

  • I was a kid when I heard my Grandpa sing this.

I always looked at him in amazement because he could sing so beautifully.

He's 76 years old now and can no longer sing or even speak much for a matter of fact.. His cancer will no doubt be the death of him, but if you were to look at him you can tell he's the strongest man ever. Going through so much pain.. He still makes a smile whenever I smile at him and I know he'll one day be at ease.

    Te Amo Apa.

  • My sister was 11 and I was 9 when we first heard this on the oldies station WCBS101 in NY. We memorized it and we used to act it out. We's dance when Felina swirled. And when he died in Felina's arms we'd be writhing on the floor. I almost died laughing when I listened and remembered those days. My sister was a riot.

  • reminds me of where i was born <3

  • I grew up listening to this entire album and can still sing every word in every song. Love them all. Thanks, Marty.

  • @deborahfordstar LOVE HIS MUSIC AS WELL ALWAYS HAVE

  • I love this song and Texas.

    Thank you.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • I can't imagine anyone disliking this song that has any taste in music.

  • @Weissmenchland Basically what you're saying is that anyone who dislikes this hasn't any taste in music. I'll taste a drink to that!

  • @Weissmenchland Country music in general left a bad taste in my mouth after hearing my parents listen to so much of the generic contemporary country that plays on the radio. However, after playing a video game with one of Marty's other songs in it, I decided to look into more of his music, and lo and behold, I'm actually liking it.

  • Great way to die, no doubt.

  • Great Video!! Great old song!!

  • It is said (in his son's words) that the family was on vacation, driving in the station wagon through West Texas, Marty was in the passenger seat as his wife drove. He asked for the kid's notebook and starting writing this song as he looked over the BadLands West

  • Oh my goodness! Here for your listening pleasure is an entire spaghetti western in one song. I have loved this song all my life. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I still mist up at the end.

  • Good tune all the way from Rosemount

  • My nanas funeral was today and she had this song played when the coffin was led into the chapel - it made me cry. Love you nana. xxxxx

  • @xamyvictoriax , all i know is i would love to have known your nana , rip

  • @MrSlainte1 Thank you xxxxx

  • @xamyvictoriax -sorry for your loss

  • @xamyvictoriax thats so sad : ( I'm very sorry for your loss

  • this is the first time I've heard the Marty Robbins version of this song. It's pretty good. But I have to say I prefer the Grateful Dead version. Maybe cause I'm a dead head. I'll tell you though, if you havn't heard the Dead version, give it a go.

  • @viidiot I gotta agree with you, this is a great version but I prefer Dead's. One thing I really like about theirs that this one doesn't have is that after the last line this one ends, and the Dead immediately go back to the faster chord progression for a bit.

  • i remember this song somehow but i've never heard it before......odd

  • @goldmasterchief117 yes you have.

  • 18 DISLIKES should read 18 TONE-DEAFS

  • "Just for a moment I stood there in silence

Shocked by the foul evil deed I had done.

Many thoughts raced thru my mind as I stood there,

I had but one chance & that was to run !"

    THE MONO VERSION.

  • this is the greatest western song of all times...and the greatest singer of all times...marty, we miss you

  • 'nother great love-lost-kill-me song. Contrast this style with Peter, Paul, and Mary's Lilly of the West. One got shot, the other probably hanged. Marty Robins and P,P,&M were great. Not much can compare to them in todays popular music world.

  • my family owns rosas cantina in el paso.haha

  • Do wrinklies get sentimental over songs from our past?

    Or is it only me?

  • Fabulous art too.

  • Funny how this song described many of his dreams that he thought were real.. whenever he would fly over el paso he would get a weird feeling and couldn't understand it.. an he died one of the very few times he ever went to el paso.. sad really. Makes you wonder if it was all real what he dang about or if he just got the ideas from his dreams..

  • Ahhh, the great Mart Robbins. What a voice and I love it. I too listened while I was young and now I'm old too. Have enjoyed him so much!

  • so funny, love how you added rockstar video game dead red revolver sketch in the video LMAO!

  • Can one say immortal love song? And how many singers could carry this octave jumping so easily as Marty did. Ah but what a wonderful tribute to love and devotion is capsuled in this time- less, world-renowned tune. Fabulous writing, background perfection and Marty's incredible voice--WOW. I feel I love Felina too, when she comes running and cradles him as he lies there dying. It seems it was all worth it for that last tender, loving kiss. Immortal song for sure.

  • wow best song ever perhaps don't make songs like that anymore

  • i wish someone sung like this these days. By the way im Seventeen

  • Whenever I need a quick pick me up I come to this song. Its just quite simply one of the greatest songs ever written..

  • i been to ELPAS ITS TRUE

  • Whats the picture from 2:05 from?

  • Absolutely one of my most favorite songs of all time!

  • women may be trouble but us men just can not resist them !

  • As an old hippie, back in the day, I thought this kind of music rubbish (Heavy Metal Ruled). I learned in time this is great stuff.

    I still hate rap!!

  • big fan of marty robbins... thing is, i'm only 16, and i can't remember how i got into this kind of music xD

i love blues too... what is with all the modern 'music' which we see on tv or hear on the radio? that's not music... thats computerised sythesized and talentless in many cases.

  • @MrAcme15 That's an ignorant assessment. All music is great in it's own way, it really depends on how you look at it. No type of music can be done with no talent though, that is for sure. This song is great btw

  • Falina was obviously a woman whose relationships meant nothing to her. So would you get yourself killed for a broad like that?

  • @MrRocketBrain

If you actually listen to the sequel of this song, you will hear that Feleena actually did love the guy. He was the first man she did not have contempt for, and that after the man in this song dies, she shoots herself in the head with his revolver.

  • @bjnboy whats the name of the sequel? O.o

  • @ChIcKyDoO122

There are two sequels tot his song.

    1. "Feleena (From El Paso)"

    2. El Paso City

The second and last sequel is told in the future and hints at a past life.

  • Great voice.

  • On family vacations I'd make my dad play this song over and over...and now that dad is no loger with us.....it sure makes me miss him.

  • Denigh Secondary Grade 9

  • marty robbins is my third cousin,no joke!

  • My dad's favorite song. Can't help the tears when I listen to it. I miss him everyday.

  • @Jude6175 imagine when marty robbins presented this song to the recording company, they told him to shorten it because it was too long and people would lose interest. marty refused and you know how that turned

out. brings back some great memories.thanks for posting sweet country girls

  • Romance at it's best.. .Marty TY for this song

  • @plklkl it aint like this no more trust me it sucks its just in the middle of nowhere and the middle of a drug/border war trust me i live like 300 miles south east of it but Texas is wonderfu; just not the border

  • @MidgetDances oh really? its so sad to know about this truth... so u live in mexico or US? where is it?

  • I remember being very young and seeing him perform this song live. later, i would find that it was his last performance. he died shortly after.

  • @Snarflebiscuit Was it in a gunfight at a cantina ?

  • @Snarflebiscuit Was it in a gunfight at a cantina ? That's how he would have wanted to go.

  • Two things that will cost you all your life, TITS and Wheels!!!!!

  • I am a mexican girl from El paso :D I love the art photos.... nice job

  • What a classic sound. The lyrics are from a REAL storyteller and the music perfect.

  • Loved this song all my life and now i am old

  • @pappawheelie09 My daddy listens to this song and I'm 24 :) and I know every single word :D

  • @pappawheelie09 me too. :-) Marty was a cousin to my first ex-hubby. I never did get to meet him. I missed out on the family reunion by a couple of months.

  • @farscapebabe Cool i was in my 20's when he passed away. i walked into a convenience store, and this older lady was crying her eyes out i asked what was wrong and she told me he had died she was devastated. i told her how much i liked him but the way she looked at the long hair on me said she didn't believe me until i recited their hanging me tonight. she was alwas nice to me after that lol now i am probably older than she was at that time my how time passes. thank you for sharing.

  • @pappawheelie09 He was young when he died. I think 57?

  • @stephendimmick You are correct. 1926 - 1982

  • @pappawheelie09 That's an AWESOME story bro.

I listened this when I was eight or so at home with mum. This along with all the other popular "A.M." music played on 2WS at the time always has stuck with me.

Although Led Zeppelin is my absolute favourite band, these diamonds I still listen to regularly. In fact, ALL THE TIME. Can't breat good music. From Donna Summer to Metallica. Carol Bayer Sager Bayer to Gorillaz.

  • @pappawheelie09 Me 2 lol

  • @pappawheelie09 amen
