I'd like to see a place where undrugged "schizophrenic" people submit to a totally healthy organic fresh fruits and vegetables, no dairy or gluten etc.  I know optimal diet is not a known and very debated. But an attempt to treat new "schizophrenics" to an optimal environment. With the billions of taxpayer dollars that just go into costly neuroleptic drugs, wouldn't it be nice to give patients a funded choice? I secretly would like to be involved in such a project.

My loved one's psychotic breaks almost seem like he is intoxicated. And because the behavior builds up and then subsides even on its own without drugs, it makes me wonder if and what toxin is getting into his mind and what ill health condition might be creating that toxin.

I have read that candidiasis can cause neurotoxins which can cause mental illness.

Also that the candida can easily not show up in tests even though there's too much of it in ones system. A loved one had thrush, white blotches in the mouth, diagnosed by an MD the evening he had a psychotic break. The blotches disappeared and the loved one went on to be put on resperadal 3mg. Nothing more was said about the thrush as it was considered in psychiatry to be irrevelant.  Now I wonder?

I can't imagine being so naive that I'd trust psychiatry. How can people not understand that psychiatric drugs simply tranquilize the brain at great cost to the health. I feel so sorry for the mentally confused individuals on which psychiatry preys.  Yes, they need help but the neurotoxins do harm.

i understand why a lot of people dislike the practice.. I however am on the path of becoming a psychiatrist. However unlike the typical doctors i will not use meds unless absolutely necessary, in fact i believe meds are not necessarily even needed for most circumstances.. Simple things such as diet alone manipulates the brain and hormone reactions in either negative or positive ways. It is a legitimate practice when done with respect, compassion, knowledge without the feeling of greed..

@Gtrplyr1 It would be good for psychiatry to have more doctors with your belief. Have you seen enough real curing to believe in nutritional cures? Intuitively I believe in nutrition but I've not personally seen it work.

@Nu13th yes i have seen people been cured of depression without medication The first thing to focus on is sleep/diet and exercise.. I believe a majority of people who claim to be "depressed" and don' know why are just overrun, sleep deprived. The typical doctor would just give meds and usually doesn't ask about sleep patterns, diet etc etc..

MD's treat people like rats too, or to practice on. As far as I'm concerned, psychiatry is commercialized neuropharmacology. Psychology has potential, though most of it is as you say. I think it's because of corruption, as usual. You know that the New Age guidance is the same as any European conservative upper class upbringing, money and power being the reward, the utopia. Thomas Szasz is pretty interesting apropos psychiatry.
