  • To bad Bud Collyer died only two months before Sesame Street premiered.

  • he is absolutely amazing...<3

  • I was four (born in 1962), too young to watch this show, and too old to watch Sesame Street (but I did for the first couple of seasons anyway).

I had a couple of his records for children. Should've done some records for adults.

Middle aged (my generation) adults...if we think we are old now, wait until THIS generation gets to be the age WE are now!

  • Of course after 1969 it would have been even easier to guess the real Bob McGrath.

  • Bob McGrath has performed on Sesame Street for six calendar decades, tying Kitty Carlisle from TTTT. If he can hang on 'til 2020...

  • Addeendum to Bob's intro: "In three years I will be appearing on the greatest childrens show in the history of television."

  • Dear Doorkins, Yes! long before he became the street singer on

"Sesame Street"..Mr.McGrath appeared on"To Tell The Truth"and he

was a regular member of Mr.Mitch Miller's singing group on NBC TV's

and Mr.Miller's"Sing Along With Mitch Show".

  • Bob! And Tom Poston! And Orson Bean! Holy moly!

  • 3 years before his sesame street debut

  • Tom Poston too? He's been around a lot longer than I would have imagined.

Praise "Bob" - wait. Wrong Bob.

  • i was born in 1967 and wow! it seems like yesterday when i was watching captain kangeroo and sesame street, man are we old or what? It sucks but one thing i know is that the older i get the more i appreciate life and all the old things that use to be young to me. It's all good I think! lol hello to all my friends out there in my old age group lmao

  • Wow I'm amazed. He is my lifelong role model and still regard him more of a father figure than my real dad. A friend, companion, playmate etc etc. I can't say enough about Bob.

  • Bob had already appeared on "I've Got A Secret" with this same story.

  • #1 looked like a young Wayne Newton.....

  • they all voted correctly. Bob didn't fool a single one of the panal.

  • Bob McGrath was also on Sing Along With Mitch.

  • I was born 19 years after this aired and I picked him out before the questioning began, lol

ahhhh the 80s Sesame Street....before Elmo took over....those were the days :)

  • By the way, before he died, Tom Poston later married Suzanne Pleshette of Newhart's previous show.

  • This is the same Tom Poston from Newhart.

  • Tom Poston looks the same from his Newhart days. Growing up to Sesame Street in the 80's, I knew Bob sang well, but not professionally

  • This is a black and white kinescope film from the original episode which was in color.

  • Bob looks way young in this!

  • Bob from Sesame Street!!!

  • Tom Poston didn't become a solidified panelist until 1965 - and the intro mentions that Bob USED to be a regular on Sing Along with Mitch - a show that left the air in 1966. So this is probably from 1966 or 1967.

  • It can't be from 1958 classicvideostreams, it's gotta be after 1962 most likely because this episode with Johnny Olson announcing was what gave it away.

  • I loved this old TV panel show.
