This is an incredible collection of music. It represents what the band was going through in that period of time not unlike the previous 4 albums. It represents what the times were like--1968 was an unbelievable year for the U.S. and the world. It represents what the mind can do. The expansion of studio techniques and the idea that anyone can collaborate--it doesn't have to be "just the band."

So basically, you're suggesting that they remove all of the personality and fun out of The White Album? Why would that be good? The fun songs give The White Album its personality and unique style which, after all of these decades with other albums released, has still never truly been outdone. Look at Led Zeppelin's 'Physical Graffiti'! A great double album too, but not as fun. Why? It hasn't got a great deal of personality or fun in it. I love it still, but yeah.
If they had done just this instead, it would have been up there with Peppers, Rubber soul and Abbey Road and saved all the other songs for a seperate release of like Beatle not so serious songs, which also would have sold well, and left the white album - The Beatles as an absolute classic.
I think the double album full of great classics, ok songs and not so ok was a mistake, and this would have been better below as a single album - • 1. Back in the USSR • 2. Glass Onion • 3. This such a great album, as is all Beatle material but, if some one made me choose an album, it would have to be Abbey Roads, probably the greatest ever made, especially side 2. Classic. Kids...do you even know what a "glass onion" really is? Tsk, tsk...children. Most of you were prolly not even born yet when John Lennon died. I remember buying this album and pulling the cellophane off of it...opening it up and checking out the photos and the poster. Then I pulled out both records, each with a green apple surrounding the hole in the middle...and putting them on the turntable...one at a time...then sitting back in amazement...and listening to that magic for the first time.

i bought a copy of the white album on vinyl from a friend for 10 dollars when i was 16. that would have been 96. i fell in love... just hearing it the way it was meant to be heard... it still has all the pictures and sleeve inserts.
The beatles were the best because they changed it up ever time. LED ZEP always sounded like L.Z., Pink Floyd was the same, the Who was the Who but the Beatles always took chances. They were the cutting edge of brillance always!!!

@dbharcadia2 Don't you think that a lot of the White Album is immediately dispensable and eminently forgettable garbage? The fact is (and even Ringo openly admits thiis) that The Beatles over reached themselves by trying to produce a double album and just didn't have enough quality material to pull it off. Don't get me wrong, some of it is up there with the best of the band's output, but a lot more of it is just filler and really not worthy of them.

This was my favorite Beatles album and remains so. So diverse, captivating, imagination stretching. Some thought it was disjointed; just claptrap from a bunch of closed minds. The variety of gems on here, mood changes, genres, goofs, laughs, sighs, and pure joy is startling. I used to look endlessly at the big foldout picture piece inside the album and just listen over and over again. Bliss!
@probrojeffro - it's always been a toss up between this and Rubber Soul, all the music out there today......yet I always return to the Beatles, I only wish I was alive when these albums were relased, I would of had that many more years of listening in.

Thank you for adding the White Album. I remember when it first came out. It was very avant guard back then, an album with no picture, no title, no artist, just plain white. When I heard it I thought to myself that the Beatles had moved up from kiddie pop to a new beautiful sound, very creative, entertaining and diverse. When I hear it again, it takes me back to the 60's, back to a time when through the Viet Nam war, all the assassinations, riots, and chaos, there was so much hope.

Thank you for adding the White Album. I remember when it first came out. It was very avant guard back then, an album with no picture, no title, no artist, just plain white. When I heard it I thought to myself that the Beatles had moved up from kiddie pop to a new beautiful sound, very creative, entertaining and diverse. When I hear it again, it takes me back to the 60's, back to a time when through the Viet Nam war, all the assassinations, riots, and chaos, there was so much hope.

the white album is the best followed closely by sgt.peppers and at par with abbey road......revolver and revolution are great too!!!!!

i saw a comment in wich it sais that ther will never be another band like them, but response said never know. I don't think this will be near but not impossible, however, if there is a band like them in resent or future i hope thei do their work just like them that could actually work even in the greates tensions in their careers, and not be like justin bieber, i can't even say it, who just be there for the picture and can't even sing.

@Gyphia I'll still stick by what I've said in the past. Revolution 9 should be a hidden track after Good Night, and Hey Jude should be in its place. That way reviews of the album would have been even better!
