Why does his race matter? Why is it necessary to point out that he's black (and over and over again no less)? He's an American first and should be referred to as such.
FACT: If he was white, this would not be a race issue but rather a nationality issue (sad but true).

I just want you to know that the man may not have been Black, as in African American; he could have been black as in Nigerian. A lot of Nigerians migrate to South Korea, significantly more than black Americans.
The word used by the Korean gentleman was indeed a Korean word. I therefore don't think this is an issue about racism but ignorance. English speakers generally do not bother to learn about different languages or cultures. We are arrogant in thinking that everyone understands English and understands our culture.
What I felt when watching the video was ashamed, ashamed that the English speaking world of which I am apart act in such insensitive ways to others of other languages and cultures.

For anyone who actually thinks the guy was freaking out because the elderly guy used the word "niga" the guy KNEW what niga meant, I mean, he was cursing out the couple in FLUENT Korean towards the end. @geragna It's really not more descriptive to say the foreigner... especially when the whole conversation is about race. I'm not so racially sensitive as to avoid saying 'black' or 'white'. That's not racist, it's just life. Everyone notices skin colour and race, it's not about ignoring it, it's about embracing the differences.
@Daisukiyo I say that calling him a foreigner is more descriptive because it implies that he may be ignorant of their culture and language (which is what caused the problem), as he is foreign. Simply calling him 'the black man' is not as descriptive, as it simply descirbes his skin color.
@geragna According to other people's comments he actually spoke Korean back to the couple, so it would appear he wasn't as much a 'foreigner' as people thought. Also, the original video was titled 'Black man On Korean Bus....' so to refer to him as the foreigner is not very helpful either. I don't see any reason why I cannot refer to someone as their colour... I'm not blind, but I'm also not racist. It's the context of words that also matter.

Here's my summation of the video. The Asian man may have disrespected the black man, or perhaps he was just telling him not to talk so loud on his cell phone. English speakers generally do not bother to learn about different languages or cultures. We are arrogant in thinking that everyone understands English and understands our culture.

Also, the original video was titled 'Black man On Korean Bus....' so to refer to him as the foreigner is not very helpful either. I don't see any reason why I cannot refer to someone as their colour... I'm not blind, but I'm also not racist. It's the context of words that also matter.

@Daisukiyo It's sad that some people think that instead of opening up an honest discussion they should just pull out the race card and tell other people they "have no right" to talk about issues that affect everyone. Everyone is discriminated against in one way or another. It's how they react that defines their character as a person. As a minority, one should be a role model for their race/gender/etc. and change cultural perceptions about them... instead of blaming the world for everything.
