has anyone acutally seen the birth cert? thats acutally real? my guess is no.. 3 different places all stated her age to be under 16 all based in china. If China didn't want all of the contraversy then they should have made sure all the media coverage supported their ages. Too many articles had at least 2 of the girls 14 or under. Not only that- the USA and many other countries have awesome outstanding jr athletes we or they did not use. That's the issue-If we had had some of our jr's who knows what could have happened or any other country for that matter.

They train very hard, so their puberty might be set back a bit. Plus I also look very young for my age, I probably look around the same age as them and I'm 18.
People grow at different times, some ppl don't reach puberty till they're 16-18. That's likely to happen in china for ppl that's training very hard.

i think its amazing that 14 year old girls won over the usa team! If the chinese team would have become second nobody would cared about their age! but on the other side the olympics have rules and you can't just break them i don't know if this is true but if it is then the chinese team should get riped of their medals...

The age limit was set 4 a reason, u must b turnin 16 in the yr of the Olympic event. Do i think that sum of the girls on china's gymnastics team were underage, yes. I mean more power 2 them if they can earn gold medals @ a younger age, but if they r underage, then they did break the rules, an they should give back the medals. I mean, c'mon u look @ them an compare them 2 any girls of "their age range" an they look like babies. I think they all look like 12-14 yrs olds.

They train very hard, so their puberty might be set back a bit. Plus I also look very young for my age, I probably look around the same age as them and I'm 18.
People grow at different times, some ppl don't reach puberty till they're 16-18. That's likely to happen in china for ppl that's training very hard.

If that was the case, the Olympics would realize it and lift the 'age qualification'. Personally, I think they SHOULD lower the age qualification to atleast 15...

Also I would like to add my opinion from this whole deal. Im from the USA, and unlike alot of people in my country who just rant and rave, I say kudos to them. Honestly who cares if they are underage, should not be a limit on age IMO. If they have the athletic ability to win gold medals at an age younger than 16, then more power to them I say. Anyway, the Chinese do look young but I thought it was unfair for the world to criticize them based on their appearance when it can't be helped. I also believe that the age limit should be decreased to 15 but my opinion don't count when it comes to it! :)

Furthermore, the 4000+ year old Chinese civilization has ALWAYS been based upon the Lunar Calendar - a calendar so accurate, it needs no leap year. The LC is also the basis of Feng Shui. Please take a chill pill before you make bias judgement against China. There are still no solid evidence to prove the female gymnast are underage.And even if it's the case China is not the first and only country to do this. Romania and North Korea falsified their gymnasts age in the past. Go look up Alexandra Marinescu, Gina Gogean,and Kim Gwang Suk on wikipedia and other sources and you'll see other country besides China are the real cheaters.

Semenova is the same size and the Chinese and the Romanians are small...And most of these "underage" Chinese gymnasts are older enough to have breasts, though very small. Younger gymnasts likely have fewer injuries and are generally more flexible, giving them an advantage over older players when it comes to tough routines. However, the age requirement was raised to prevent younger athletes from putting too much strain on their developing bodies.

it really annoys me when people say if they were better more power to them no matter thier ages. Well the reason is because there is a rule that they have to be 16 and everyone else followed it.
