@NeoSpriggan It's been almost 50 years since the Daleks were first introduced, and that question has yet to be answer! I wouldn't go expecting an answer now. LOLOL!!

(Some say that, ostensibly, it's some kind of hydralic suction cup lifter. I think that that's just what they had on hand [no pun intended], and didn't want to have to create anything that required articulation. I was challenging enough just to get the guys on tricycles inside it to move in the right direction.)

@NeoSpriggan The BBC effects budget has always been a bit lower than what American TV productions get. So they got creative. For the same reason, those armies of evil henchmen that every Doctor Who villain seems to have, they always wear masks or helmets, so the actors don't need make-up.

it doesn't matter the Dalek has a hint oif an american accent. remember the last episode of the last series, when Martha jumps into Germany with that teleport thing in order to use the Osterhaagen key? ashe was moving through the undergrowth, a squad of Daleks passed all speaking German.

they clearly cater for whatever language or accent the locals speak.

we are indeed reading too much into things all the time. in school for example, when the teacher's asking 'what do you think the author thought while writing this?' often they don't think anything...they just write. and that's the way I do that, too. if someone asked me why I did it like that I would make something up

Imperial daleks were created and controled by Davros, becuase the renegade daleks got cheeky and tried to destroy him and use him. The video abouve does not make sense. hehe but good animation though.

the original Daleks (without Davros) had an Emperor... therefore they were true Imperial Daleks. Davros' Daleks on Necros (Revelation of the Daleks) were all destroyed, yet by the time Rememberance of the Daleks comes around, the main "Imperial" Facton have somehow lost control to Davros... persuamably he somehow overcame the original Dalek Emperor and took control, causing the minority (renegade) faction to be the smalled, but original colouring group. therefore this makes sense.

Going alone the actual time line of the daleks, not the one that Dr who started. Davros Created the daleks, there fore didn't "take control" The renegade daleks, buy davros's own admission in Rememberance, suggests that the grey/black/blue/sliver what ever, are the renegade daleks. :)

i think you are missing the point. the term 'renegade' implies a break-away faction from a larger Imperial command group.

We know that at some points the non-davros controlled daleks have been controlled by not only the Supreme dalek, but also Emperor dalek(s) who were not Davros (see Evil of th Daleks and Parting of the Ways) - thus making these -also- imperial daleks, by literal definition.

Either, Davros created his own empire, which destroyed or at least massively reduced the original non-davros Empire, or he took control of many of them. He was far from in control after he created them, and only appeared to have a substantial Dalek backing in Rememberance, suggesting something happened after the events of 'Revelation of the Daleks' where he was taken for trial. the cominc "Emperor of the Daleks" does a good job of tieing up these loose ends - i suggest you read it, it's fun.

I have one thing to say. Davros CREATED the daleks... There for, the daleks who tried to KILL him (with grey casing) were the renegades. The supreme Dalek (and the emperor) are part of that group that broke away from their creator, and cheif scientist.. How does that make the grey daleks imperial?
