So, as the soloist has a master volume, can I play it in a small 10x10ft room and still get the tone I want without needing hearing aids the rest of my life? The peavey 2x12 I got now has got a pre and post gain knob which I can use to tailor the volume down a bit (and get a nice clean.... crank those up and it gets loud, with the clean trading in for an overdrive type of sound)
@RJW14 I got the 1-12 soloist about 2 months ago, and yes you can get faithful sound at low volume. My practice room is the same size. I play in a cover classic rock band, and this is a versitile amp for getting various sounds. It did fall on it's face when I tried to play an acoustic-electric thru it. SO..I got the 12in ext. cabinet and cut a piece to fully enclose it. Now it's really great, and helps if you are trying to get some heavy distortion balls out of it also.. great amp!
Meh, we -have- an accoustic electric here, but that's just standing there in the corner. I don't like the sound of bronze strings (silk and steel are more to my liking) and since I'm not a very big guy, I have to really work my way around it.
I think I'm gonna get me a spanish guitar for accoustics, I love the way the nylon strings sound. Off course I'm no flamenco player, but hey, nobody's perfect.
@RJW14 Glad to help! I allmost got the 40, but the 60 had a couple of more features for just a bit more money..actually, the cut in side handles on the combo (which the 40 doesn't have) were a big deal for me. It sure helps when having to lug it around to play gigs. Sure like it so far!
Been suffering from bad back problems all my life. Glad to see that technology has finally caught up with medical science and is making this possible. Thanks for the view.
Great amp, I especially love the American/British (ISP control) allowing for the best of both worlds for infinite tonal possibilities. Clean channel is supremely flexible for ALL styles.
Hey guys :) I have a Fender Highway One Telecaster, and I play anything from clean, blues, up to around Foo Fighters kind of alt./punk rock tone. would this amp be good for me?? Cheers
@ToddeeTheTeleMan Yes, then I'd suggest ditching the Hwy 1 tele. I never liked that particular like from Fender. If you like the single coil sound, stick with Fender but get a regular American Tele or Strat. For Humbuckers, obviously the holy grail is the Les Paul and another goodie is the SG
I bought a Stage-60 for my hard-rock band a month ago and it works really fine, both rythm and solo playing. I'm happy to have got this amp. It's really worth every cent of its price.
One thing that I felt was missing in the demo was an explanation on how the boost function works. You really have two options by a switch on the back. One is to have the boost to work on BOTH channels. The other is to have a boost channel (like having three channels). With the added mid range boost button in it's quite different from the OD channel.
We play large pubs/clubs and this cranks up nicely...any bigger and you can always mic it or take it straight out the back to the PA but not needed to yet and i play the lead in a classic rock covers band against our other guitarist who has a Marshall tsl 100 and mine sounds sweeter (imo) as its breaks up nice at lower vol levels and easy cuts over our loud drummer.
@ThePleaoftheforsaken I own a Peavey XXX which is a downstep from the 6505, but you would not be disappointed with either the Blackstar of the 6505. The Blackstar is going to give you a wider range of tones and in my opinion better in the long run.
@soaring138 Thanks, its a bit difficult doing it solo, glad you like it. These amps have such a wide variety of tones available them that you really need to see what happens when you turn all the controls and buttons. I must say the amp sounded great in the flesh, do I need another amp......hmmmmmmm, could I sneak it past the wife ...... probably... ;)
@NevadaMusicUK Hello, very good review by the way...i have a question...
Aside from wattage, what exactly are the differences between the HT-40 Stage and the HT-60 Soloist...both amps im HIGHLY interested in and both amps seem very good...but i was just curious of the differences between them
@TrippyTheShroom The Soloist has the added boost function which works on both channels - a solo boost if you like. The boost function has an extra mid boost voicing. It can be set up (by a switch on the back) to be a separate channel - like an OD2. In this mode it uses OD setup, but with the added volume boost and optional min range boost. Then you have the extra wattage. I chose Soloist because of the boost function which I use for soloing.

Just got one of these for 700 bucks, best amp I've ever used/owned
Electricpraise777 2 months ago
Definately needed to do more on the overdrive for the Soloist, there was like 4 seconds of playing. As a metal player that's why I came for this :(
Kelberwitzi 2 months ago
i love that we actually get to hear the tones being used by a skilled guitarist. that doesn't happen very often on youtube.

Best amp demo on youTube. Nice one.

I take it that the stage and the soloist basically have the same voicing seeing that only the soloist was played?

@spazzydude9 oh yup. i really like my Tele though, haha. Its got hotter pickups than a regular Tele which is cool. Thanks for the help.
