For anyone non-technical person watching this, connecting three devices by cable will not magically make it possible to convert video. This kind of functionality must be supported by software on both the computer and the camcorder. Also, I've never heard of A/V cables being used to transfer video onto a camcorder.
This is B.S. You can have the VHS video coming into your video camera and showing on its display, but as soon as you plug in the firewire cable the display turns blue, and the video capture software on your computer (like Windows' Autoplay feature supplies) starts prompting you to record the content on your camera's tape. And of course, if you don't put a tape in you don't even get the VHS video to display in the first place, which this guy failed to mention.
Another way this can be done, inputting the VHS VCR to any stand alone DVD recorder to record old videos on DVD-R (discs need finalizing in these units, RW's may not need finalized) . Once the discs been recorded , they can be extracted to your computer's hard drive by using editing programs such as Cyberlink Power Director.
@knowledgeispowerfful The camera digitises the video. You can get a bit of software to do this but a camera is a cheaper option if you already have one.
You really insult the intellegence of your viewers. What is the point in making a video about how to do something and writing the words over the picture so that we can't see what the person is doing??? Get rid of the words and trust your audience to use their ears!!
@ckipel Thank you, you are a gentleman. The day I viewed the video the captions were right in the middle of the video (not at the bottom as today). Maybe this was some sort of malfunction but I could not see what was happening.
@ljmmuk They're not trying to insult you, you ignorant cunt, they're trying to making their videos useful for deaf people like my brother. Besides, the words aren't covering anything important anyway
ok so its all plugged in, what do I do? Press play on the Video Recorder? And what to I do with the camera, turn it on to camera view, or player view? please help
i dont get how the cable that i use to put the footage from my cam to the VCR at 51 seconds is able to just send the signal BACK to the camcorder. i don't see anywhere in my camera manual that says that is an INPUT rather than an OUTPUT.
maybe the newer cameras are just able to switch that prong from output to input all of a sudden and you can see whats played on your VCR but i dont get it
I should try if this can be done the other way around... from PC to camera, to VCR cassette. VCR cassette are great for physical art project, you can fiddle and alter the magnetic tape.
This tut is silly. You have to have a camcorder that has DV out!!! He didn't even say that. If you don't have one those type camcorders you can't do any of this.
Yes, the video in on a camcorder is the best feature ever! However, I got some noise signals out of my VHS machine before I did some tuning. Here's how: Search DIY - Video Recorder Repair on YouTube.
get a double ended RCA to the dazzle and output of vhs if it has it (mine does) dazzle connects to computer through usb, record on computer, burn dvd,
My camcorder is different jvc gr d850 it will only recieve and send thru firewire port and obviously my vcr has no firewire port. So Im assuming there is some kind of go-between that has the firewire on one end and rca connections on the other so I can do this.
ok that's right, but i don't have firewire port in my pc even not in my laptop and i got usb cable with my dv camcoder when i connect pc doesn't recognised.i think there is only one solution i need a firewire adapter r is there any other solution please help me thanks.
you might not gonna notice, but a DVD last a minimum of 6 years if not 10 if you can take care of it out of scratches. Compared to a VHS, the tape last longer. I can tell because I used to have an original Lion King in VHS format, and I also had the dvd disc platinum version. Believe me the vhs still work update, the dvd has some scratches plus the image jumps or freezes.
@spider1g5 It depends on the type of camera that you buy. The one I already owned had the setting where you could change the input/output signal that the guy mentions at the end, but i'm not sure if all video cameras have it. 1:41
You're using a Canon video camera in your video so I was encouraged as I have a Canon Zr500 model. Man, you just saved me $100s and $100s of dollars as I was thinking about buy a new computer to use one of those crappy videop capturing devices. THANKS!!!!
