  • you like john lennon becoming a guitar nerd :D

  • Thanks a lot man, got the bridge pretty much spot on first go :)

  • Helped a lot dude. I faved your video as I know it will come in useful when I forget next week.

  • thx alot dude but i never known a spoon is so important in life :P

  • Thanks for the video,man :D.

  • hey um i have strings from 11-49 gauge and and my guitar is tuned in drop c. i wanna drop it down to a B flat a whole step down but my bridge goes down =\ should i get thicker strings or could i just adjust the bridge?

  • @mayweather112 I'd bump the gauge up a notch or two. The strings with be a floppy mess that is hard to keep in tune if they aren't thick enough. If the 11s are too unstable/you can't really get your bridge adjusted correctly, try some 12s

  • thanks for the help

  • I could have swore i saw you today do you live in south carolina?

  • @whiskeyrockaroller96 Nope, Arizona.

  • 7:09 :D

  • I just bought an ESP with my first floating tremolo and I was pretty clueless about it. But now I think I got it. This is a well done instructional video, thanks weird little squirrel man!

  • @Luukeksi Out of curiosity, what ESP did you get? Glad I could help! However, I will ask that you note that I have significantly less body hair than a squirrel.

  • @JamminJimmyClark

:D That's not necessarily a bad thing at all. I got an ESP LTD MH-250

  • @Luukeksi Nice, I have the MH-50, I'd much rather have the 250.

  • I never knew coming to The Shire would help with my guitar

  • @TheDoomSower I'm too tall for the Shire, height limit is 4'0" and I am 5'7". Sorry to disappoint bro.

  • @JamminJimmyClark Don't get smart with me or I'll take your ass back to Isengard.

  • Finally, a video that doesn`t suck! Thanks!

  • @5:22 "You're gonna want to tighten those suckas"

  • WHAT.THE FUCK?

  • @Bey0ndKha0s1825 LOL IDK WHAT YOU WTFING ABOUT? LOL UMADBRO?

  • @JamminJimmyClark no im not mad. you just helped me. thanks dood. :P

  • i changed the spoon to knife....

  • Hey, would you be so gentle to give me a tip on my problem: this week i had the terrible idea of removing the floy rose bridge and i put it back in place today, it was rusted and i cleaned it up, well the thing is that i could put it back in place and adjust the springs and changed strings too but it keeps getting out of tune and the bridge goes under or above the guitar body i think its a tension issue is there any way to measure the tension on the springs to set it up on normal 440 .009?

  • @lucasricardofolco I'm kinda confused based on the way you described, any chance of pics? However, just guessing, it sounds like you don't have the bridge seated on the posts right or you need to adjust the posts so the bridge is in the right place. Send me a message with some links to pics and I can maybe give you a bit more help, or maybe not. I'm not promising miracles. Disclaimer: I am not a guitar mechanic, I am but a simple, tech-minded guitar player.

  • @JamminJimmyClark I'll see what i can do about the pictures or video, dont worry about that disclaimer thing Im not gonna sue you, my guitar is fucked up cuz i fucked it up and any advice i can get is like gold to me.

  • @lucasricardofolco you may have damaged the knife edges that attatch to the posts. in wich case not all hope is nesecarily lost (although possible) try putting chap stick on the knife edges and put it back on and see if tht helps

  • mannnnnnnnn you are so weird.... but you actualy helped me with my problem XD

  • Was this made in 1986?

  • @casbah1982 So you're asking: Did I make this 4 years before I was born/3 years before the song I played in the video was written? Yes.

  • hey bro what guitar is that cause i think i got the same one, is it the old model metalien behring, or the new usb one?

  • @TonyMantana32 Neither. It was an Ibanez RG370DX.

  • @JamminJimmyClark oh they seem so similar except the sound, that one sounds better

  • hello, my name's cartman.....

  • floyd rose trems suck asshole..i just smashed my guitar cause of those shitty pain in the ass trems

  • @mattyblues101 lol. Whatever, you're the one who's out a few hundred dollars(minimum) because you were too much of an impatient fucktard to make it work right. I use and maintain 4 guitars with floating trems and it's no big deal.

  • @JamminJimmyClark Whoa dude.. why you gotta try an insult me cause i had a problem with a FR?.i aint a guitar tech...im a guitar player...it was my first go with a floyd and it was not my thing...dont insult people on the internet man..its not cool dude..

  • @mattyblues101 Don't come up with an insulting retort to some asshole's stupid comment...on the internet? You must be new here.

  • So when I use the whammy bar it goes flat and also, when i tune it with the pegs with the spoon, when I take the spoon away it goes sharp and it is level so if there's anything you can tell me to fix this it would help alot! thanks.. btw the video already helped alot.

  • @34210marco Lather, rinse, repeat.

  • Hi, so i used my whammy and one of my strings got outta tune.. i dont get how to use the fine tuning..-.- I am completely new with the floyd rose trem can you maybe help and explain how to use the fine tuning?

  • @Joyotax Turn the fucking fine tuner. If it is already screwed to the max, unscrew it, unscrew the nut for the string, tune up, and tighten the nut again.

  • what if you lose your nut screwer??

  • @thanoskakourhs lol get a new one n00b. You can't complete a job without the necessary tools.

  • @JamminJimmyClark obviously my problem is not whether i can buy one...i just thought it was a one-size product..DICKHEAD

  • @thanoskakourhs You didn't say/ask anything like that. You asked "what if you lose you nut screwer??" which is called an ALLEN WRENCH/HEX KEY! An allen wrench/hex key, is not something exclusive to guitar maintenance, it is a standard tool you can buy at ANY hardware store ANWHERE. Your initial question had NOTHING to do with your supposed intended inquiry.

  • @JamminJimmyClark thanks!

  • @thanoskakourhs You're welcome, just ask questions more clearly next time dude.

  • @ 5:24, "YOU GOTTA TIGHTEN THOSE SUCKAS" LMFAO

    NOW I KNOW ROCK ON!

  • @RockStArSkAtEr996 Good....good.

  • Mick mars Rules!!

  • ACK! I have a spring stuck by the block and I just need it shoved in all the way! Please help!

  • Cunt destroyer

  • @murnage You called?

  • Fuck, you showed me that it aint a ngihtmare to have a floyd

  • @Tombking2 That was the objective, glad it helped man. Dive bomb to your heart's content!

  • van halen :)

  • what a horn dog

  • @hagojr idgi

  • nice choice in bands motley crue and van halen its the only way live:)

  • I don't give a flyin' fuck when you hit puberty, man, you saved my life!!!!!!

I have a gig in a few hours and my dad (who knows a lot about guitars) is out of town with no cell phone service and my bridge was sunk! THANK YOU!!!!!!!

  • tighten those suckas! You the man!!

  • My spoon... is... too big...

  • @Keinnicknamemehrfrei I AM A BANANA!

  • @JamminJimmyClark

Dude your tone is legit! What amp/pedals are you using?

  • @rokr4u23 It was a Hartke 60-watt half-stack they stopped making right about that time and a DigiTech metal master.

  • Yo....You Rule! Rock On Brotha!

  • Hello, Jim Clark.

  • @Nirklas Hey babe, what's goin' on?

  • you make it look so easy. i have tried over and over and i still cant get it right

  • @dangraphic Shut up you old geezer. At least I am still in my prime, unlike you. Also, if you are watching this video, the age on your profile is true, and you feel you have been playing long enough that you can be a jackass to someone who is just trying to help people out, you are pretty much a fucking retard for not knowing how to adjust a floating tremolo on your own.

  • @JamminJimmyClark

LOL You're young, but I seriously doubt in 'your prime'... You're an adolescent that lacks a sense of humor, that's for sure! What makes you think I don't know how to adjust a tremolo, pipsqueak? I got to your video while looking up "really annoying useless videos", bird brain.

  • @dangraphic 21 isn't one's prime typically? Wow, I guess I have a TON to learn! I am tired of getting comments about my voice, thus I have no sense of humor about it. Imagine someone, everyday just walking up to you and insulting you for something you have no control over. Day after day after motherfucking day. It gets annoying and while I responded in an immature fashion, I figured someone someone of your age would have the maturity to not make such an immature comment in the first place.

  • @JamminJimmyClark You're right. I'm very sorry, honestly.

You have no control over that and I shouldn't pick on you... I guess I was in a be-a-total-ass day...

    Peace man

    \m/

  • @JamminJimmyClark you sound a lot like one of my friends actually so your voice has NO effect on me, the videos good though, did the spoon one time and it dented part of the body

  • thanks alot man, i was hopeless with out this video :)

  • Haha, he has an RG like mine and the same chord poster in his room... kind of creepy.

  • @Dethlokvids Had*

Do people realize this video is bordering on 3 and a half years ago?

  • helpful video thanks brother.

  • Where do you live? I failed hard with my Ibanez... ;l I suck at restringing it.... wanted to know if I could pay you like... 5-10 bucks just to restring my guitar... xD

  • @Defytheordinary I live in the east sector of the Phoenix, AZ metropolitan area.

  • okay say i want to tune it from E standard to E flat

how much wud i need to turn the screws in the back?

  • ive done all that but when i play while pusing down on the frets there is a unwanted buzzing noise any tips on getting rid of it :)

  • Holy Shit Dude!....using that Spoon across the Body of your Axe with no Cushion,Cloth etc??? = FAIL!

  • @JamminJimmyClark lmao, the shit you say to people legend

  • in the biggining i thought on that song 8:10.. :D

  • Thank you, Jimmy. Very informative and easy to understand. Much appreciated.

  • this video takes forever..mainly because you talk slow. talk faster jimmy.

  • I gotta tell ya...I watched god knows how many vids on this shit and no one explained it as well as you, and you're WAAAAAAAAY younger than everyone else. Good job man.

  • lol thats funny

  • @ JamminJimmyClark ahahaha thats funny man, good vid too

  • cool video, but i wonder when hes going to hit puberty

  • @tmblacktrack Puberty is overrated bro, i skipped that shit.

  • @JamminJimmyClark like a boss

  • @UchihaXsai2012 See, this guy gets it.

  • @JamminJimmyClark And entered ur grandma voice ?

  • @WRCreedRS Sure, why not?

  • @JamminJimmyClark because it sux

  • @WRCreedRS You don't get sarcasm, do you?

  • @tmblacktrack maybe he got kicked between his balls by a girl, because of his high voice XD

  • @tmblacktrack you must be a flipping comedian or something. that was a world class joke right there. totally original and creative.

  • very helpful, solved my problem, thx alot. rock on.

  • That's some harsh tone.

  • @WoWintosh I concur, precisely why I ditched it in favor of an amp-based distortion now.

  • thanks man helped me out alot

  • This happened to my Ibanez rg2570 prestige when i changed gauge, i cried

  • @mattmanmkb QQ more n00b

  • @TheDCRocka , If you are having to run the screws ALL THE WAY in, and the bridge is still floating way too high, then the only solution I can think of is to add more springs. If you have 3 springs, move up to 5 springs. That'll pull that puppy down.;) The reason I say that is because I added 2 more springs to my Ibanez once to try to secure more accuracy, and I could barely divebomb it after that. I actually had to put my weight on to the whammy to dive bomb it then. 2 much work, so just stuckW3

  • Hey Jimmy, Thanks for the course. So my question is, what is the purpose of off setting the springs to the wider spread configuration at the screws end of the springs and having them grouped together, in the center 3 holes of the bridge? I have always seen them having the perfectly straight config, like 3 adidas stripes. But I've seen more and more of the tapered config like yours. Whats the diff?

  • hello my name is OZZY OSBOURNE !!!!

  • @JOHNNYTRUBLUD Hi Ozzy, big fan, nice to meet you and all that jazz.

  • lol budgie.

  • my floyd rose floating bridge is pulling ym strings down and wont float atoal how do i make it float again?

  • my floyd rose bridge at the back wont float it just sits in the gap. hitting the bottom how do i make it float?

  • thanks for the video. your method works great even on my crappy yamaha strat copy :D

  • would that be the same method on just a standard fender strat?

  • @FruscianteIsGod65 yea i tried it, it works fine as long as you do it right ;)

  • what guitar is that?is it a ibanez rg370dx?

  • @ddirtz666 Yep

  • Thanks alot mate, couldn't find any other videos that made sense.

  • Awesome job mate. Thanks a bunch. Just... You don't play powerchords like that man.

  • @illeagle7 Thanks and no prob. I played my power chords just fine like that. I don't play 'em that way anymore, but they sounded just like a power chord played the correct way.

  • @JamminJimmyClark

I know. But it's way harder that way. I use my little finger and index :D

  • @illeagle7 It's suppose to be the index on the root and ring on the 5th, then the pinky/little finger if you're hitting the octave as well.

  • @JamminJimmyClark

I know. When I play the fifth I use my pinky :D

But when use the fifth and octave then I use my ring to play the fifth and my pinky for the octave.... xD

It's just more comfortable to play the fifth with my pinky when not playing the octave. And faster :)

  • COULD IT WORK LIKE THAT ON MY SPIDER 4 15 WAT AMP

  • HELL YEATHE BEST VIDEO ON YOUTUBE ABOUT TUNEING UR FLOAT TREM....NOW TELL ME HOW DID U GET THAT TONE

  • @MASTERMARK360 Digitech Metal Master with the knobs turned all the way up. Actually...maybe it was one of the suggested presets...hmm...It might have been whatever the last suggested preset is.

  • ah dude, you just saved a good guitar that i was gonna toss into the hands of a crappy pawn shop. XD thanks a billion dude. p.s. i like your voice. you sound like the interviewer at the beginning of jimi hendrix's EXP. XD

  • @jgjhereld yes, that was my problem, got bigger screws and put em in and now they stay in place, thanks =D

  • Looks like the Lead vocalist of Rush XD

  • @MrCaliforniaScum Nah man...I look far more like the vocalist of Budgie:

    /watch?v=54H3EUAzpVg

  • I noticed that if I tune my guitar to a dropped tuning such as drop b the strings become very close to the fret board. Is that normal?

  • If I loosen the two screws too much will it come out and break the whole thing?

  • @Protcall Yes

  • I fucking love your voice.

  • Hey it's cool that we learn from each other . It took me half or a third of the time

to get my git-fiddle in tune and tremelo level. CoOl Thanks again.

  • Good instructional video guy. The spoon thingy (I used a ruler ;) was a new idea to me and it worked out very well. Thanks! ;)

  • @Ezguitarpick Thanks, glad I could help man. I grabbed the idea from some random ass video on the same thing.

  • Thanks man!!! My tremolo is no where flat with the body... Can you tell me why it matters? Does it stay in tune better or what? Thanks!! Very helpful!!! Scott

  • @nehocyrrah The point of a floating tremolo is to have that range to pull up and push down on the whammy bar. If it is leaning back into the body, you lose part or all of the pull up range. If it is leaning outward, you lose some push down range and you have too much pull up range which, if you tried to use all of it, would most likely break the strings.

  • Uhh, hey, if you know how, can you help? I have an edge III tremolo, long story short, my bridge fell into my guitar, like, it sank. Tried fixing it a couple of times, now my bridge is off, and each time i try to put the springs in the back on and connect them to the plate,i can sometimes get 1 on, but by the time the second on is one the plate snaps off and the screws fly out of the guitar...have any idea what i should do? thanks.

  • @redcourier355 sounds like your screw holes are stripped out! your gonna have to get some bigger screws to put in these holes, i have a ibanez RG-47ex with the edge 3 and this didnt happen to me but i have researched this trem for over 3 months now and finally got mine fixed! another good video to watch is "how to adjust the spring tension on a tremolo" very helpful, and another is a 7 part video called "floyd rose setup part 1 of 7 introduction" then watch all 7 very helpful, hope this helps!!

  • Thanks man I got it almost perfect!

  • My tremolo is parallel to the body and I'm tuned perfectly into drop c. When I play open strings it's fine. But the only problem is that all of my frets are off pitch as I go up the fretboard. Can you help at all? Thanks

  • @BA1221 Adjust your intonation.

  • dude do you know how to install the floating trem

  • @xombigd Does the guitar you wish to install it in already have the cavity for the floating trem?

  • @JamminJimmyClark no its a guitar i am making and was just wondering if there anything you have to do so the floating trem fits and that

  • @xombigd I'll send you a link of an imgur album with pictures for measurements of the cavity you need to rout for the floyd rose to your inbox. I'll place it in the description bar too if anyone else wants it.

  • Mötely at the end ;D

    awzzomee :D

  • Very clear & helpful. 5/5

  • My tremolo is facing the back but when I tighten or loosen the strings it won't move.

  • nice camera angles

  • funny guy but thanx!

  • My floyd is flush with the body when its tuned to E minor, and I tuned it to D and now the floyd is leaning back into the body. Would I just have to take the nut off and lower the tension in the springs, or tune it back to E and then do that?

  • @snipermansam Follow the steps in the video bro.

  • great little show off in the end mate :D..

But thanks for the walkthrough. I have been wrestling with my tremelo for days now, and finally it stays horizontal to the body when tuned.

  • @DoolhofDxiv Glad I could help man!

  • I was SO lucky that my guitar's factory settings were pretty much perfect... when I changed back from D standard with .10-.46 strings to E standard with .9-.42 there was nothing left for me to fix :D

It's incredible how much more fun playing is when you finally get to play a well-intonated instrument again.

    Also, nice tutorial.

  • thank you dude now my guitar play fine again:P

  • i have blocked the tremolo on my rg.i got the exact same guitar,i dont think it stays in tune very well if you use the tremolo
