The woman you hear in the video was on the phone with a veterinarian who made sure Scott kept a towel in between the beak as he held on while walking down the pier to a carrier so it could breathe and then brought it to the wildlife care in Fort Lauderdale. After the pelican was pulled up with a drop net, we all saw fishing lines were constricting the throat. I helped release the rehabilitated pelican a little over a month later.
I was in a rush to produce this video as a press release in order to have the best chance of having it picked up by the media as soon as possible. Therein, the video is a bit long and choppy in some places but it does not sacrifice all of the vital moments in the rescue. Thank you all for your viewing and support.
From the original text: NEVER KEEP A PELICAN BEAK SHUT! They cannot breath any other way!

You cannot keep is bill closed like that. They need to have it slightly open in order to breathe.
