  • for god sakes, just hand me my anti-wrinkle cream before i........aaaargh

  • classic early stewart .. rock on rod

  • THIS IS PURE ROD STEWART! GREAT STUFF!

  • listen to the jockney 40 years,

  • brilliant

  • well after checking a few lyric sites it seems they agree it "fourteen years" but dont you think 40 years sounds more dramatic lol ..I stand corrected Luc ..love the song ..thanks for the upload :)

  • @goboats god i think the lyrics are special so much so that i want them when i pass away

  • @wilma240655 everyone thinks that is sick but i love him so much its the best i will ever do is have his song when i paSS AWAY SORRY IF I HAVE OFFENDED ANYONE

  • I spent the summer in Atlantic City (before gambling) and this song along with Take it Easy by The Eagles became something of an anthem for my rather large group of friends. I was dating a girl from Temple U and I was attending school in northern New England and we played this song a lot before we each went our separate ways. Jeanne was a lovely girl and after we parted we never saw each other again.

  • Hey ROD SAYS >>THE COLDEST WINTER IN NEARLY 40 YEARS ..its the accent silly

  • @goboats I can clearly hear 'almost'.

  • @Lucija1729 thats right "almost 40 years "

  • @goboats He says "Fourteen Years". You can clearly hear the 'n' in the word.

  • @goboats Nope , deffo Fourteen years .

    ( who gives a **** , listen to the beautiful song .)

  • @goboats NOPE ! I've been listening to this song for almost 40 years, and he {I promise, hope to die} says," coldest winter, in almost fourteen years"

  • Just about perfect...ace song

  • What a great down 'n dirty rock 'n roll outfit these guys where. Not crazy about Rods solo stuff, but with The Faces he rocked. God bless Ronnie Lane.

  • One of Stewart's most underrated songs.

  • killer song...rod at his best.....mp

  • This is the Rod I remember and love.

  • Don't have much but what I got is yours. CLASSIC!

  • @AscoliChaChaCha except, of course, my steel guitar...

  • If you don't like this song, stop listening to music because you know nothing about music. Mandolin Wind is an absolute classic. One of the best songs EVER!

  • @davehagerty100 ...... perfect comment. Rod as always is awesome!

  • Sure wish this was available live. One of my favourite Rod Stewart songs, and believe me, I have lots of them.

  • There's something wrong with the dislikes

  • Classic!!!

  • MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of my favorites! Thanks for posting the original version. I remember when this song first came out on the radio.

  • Love, LOVE this...

  • .. and this made double French on a Friday afternoon in 1974 BEARABLE!

  • @TheEroru "except, of course, my STEEL guitar..."

  • magic song

  • I saw him once, Jeff Beck was with him, was one of the greatest musical moments of my life! Hey, the man is a huge part of our "good" musical history, he's older now and has grown older gracefully, if that makes him a lounge singer then so be it. He still has his voice, his performing talent and his love of music, you can't take anything away from him, he is the one and only Rod! All his albums have been great, if this is all you know of him you haven't really looked very hard! Damn people!

  • When he still rocked, before he became a "lounge singer", high priced, but a lounge singer none the less.

  • geez, I am an 'OLD-Timer but have never heard this awesome, great, terrific, wonderful song!!!!! Stewart has a great voice, but was never one of my favorites. After hearing this i might just change my mind. This is the best I ever heard from him. Pleasantly surprised :)

  • @kunstwerk7 I'm pretty sure (I could be wrong tho) the mandolin player was the guy from Lindisfarne, - I don't think he was John Peel!!

  • @twoshedtunes John Peel could neither sing nor play a note on a musical instrument. Maybe being the greatest ever radio DJ was enough. He did, however once mime on the mandolin on Top of the Pops.

  • @dickbird100 think it was martin quitenton

  • Rod once declared that this song was a favorite song of his ...

    (... can't argue with that ...)

  • Such an atmospheric song that says so much.I was never really into having a lot.Seemed to be the key. What can you say?!!!

  • He was never as great as he was with "Faces" as his band. Sorry, but there you have it.

  • SEEMS LIKE I ONCE HEARD AN INTERVIEW W/R.S. ABOUT THIS ALBUM,HE SAID THAT THE ENTIRE BAND WERE OUT OF THIER MINDS WHEN THEY MADE THIS ALBUM..LMAO.. THO HE (R.S.) SAID THAT THEY WOULD'NT DO SUCH A THING NOW,B/C THEY HAVE FAR,FAR TOO MUCH TO LOSE NOW..

  • How can one person vote this classic down ????

  • thank you brings tearsmmm

  • first saw Rod 1974 with the Faces at the Free Trade Hall Manchester u.k. a memory i will never forget and i was lucky enough to meet him a couple of years later

  • Lucilja1729, I will agree "Every Picture...." was the best collection of tunes Rod The Mod recorded for Mercury, (IMHO) "Atlantic Crossing" will be eventually judged as Rod Stewart's greatest recorded effort, but, that being said "Mandolin Wind" just may well be his greatest song, at least from his Mercury days! Regardless, thanks for the upload, Hell Yes I love this song!

  • Great Song

  • @SteveJobsWorth Yes absolutely....he's hateful...but I still love and connect to this despite myself!

  • What an album. So many memories flood my mind.

  • Love this so, Thanks Rod for taking us to the bliss station again <3

  • I have seen Rod Stewart several times & have never been disappointed! Go Rod!

  • just so cheesy, except he's n o camambert. When the Normans had had enough of this awful island and went back home to \france they left us Rod to keep us warm in winter

  • @NowMyPoundsHaveRunOu What!! The Normans left. No they didnt we are the decendants. This awful island!! No it isnt. Can you enlighten me as to how Rod is Norman. His father was ascot his mother was cockney He was born in London. I think he's English even though he thinks hes a Scot. Where Norman comes in I can only wondwr

  • @turkey08041954 I don't think he thinks he's Scottish I think that's how he feels in his heart.

  • One of my favorites from Rod Stewart but hard to listen to right now; and healing as well. For you Lorna, See you in Heaven when we are together again.

PS: Thanks for putting it up.

Multumim Rod Stewart ! mai-11-2011; 00:30 AM.

  • There's a great version of this song out on DVD called "Unplugged and Seated" Rod and Ronnie together again. Its also been re-released again on DVD, I think with more song's, I'm not sure on that one. But it is a live version with Rod playing the banjo, and Ronnie cracking a funny joke about Rod having to play an instrument on stage. Beautiful song............

  • @77ricebowl Thanks, that sounds good

  • his best song

  • Min favorit Rod Stewart!!

  • Great song, where can I find this on video ( Live version)

  • @firehose34

That would be rather hard... I searched a bit but I can't find.

  • Love this song...memories....Caird Hall..Dundee 1973...xxx

  • This is why everyone knows who Rod Stewart is. Forget Maggie Mae.

  • This one's for you Honey. God Bless you in Heaven.

  • Beautiful!

  • not to me...lol

  • Actually, he's NOT British...He's Scottish

  • @ripleymt......... same thing

  • B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L.

  • Gorgeous. This song gives me such strength. It's gotten me through some hard times. It's so full of hope and love. So glad I got to see him do this live before his disco #$%^.

  • 'beautiful British song!' - the pub landlord

  • no commitment problem there so far

  • oh such a beautiful song...4th record i bought

  • MY FAV!

  • one of his best tracks brings back the past

  • a guilty pleasure these days now i read the guardian rather than the sun, kafka rather than enid blyton, vote bnp rather than snp, pick my ears with an opium pipe rather than just with a pipe, give the missus a beating rather than just a slap or two, just cheer on Cameron rather than put up with Blair, etc, etc

  • Love it.

  • Rod gets full composer credit for this track but admits on the vinyl sleeve-notes that he was well supported by The Faces throughout on the album. I'm sure Ron Wood's three guitars helped make it No 1 on both sides of the Atlantic simultaneously.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • only ever seen him do this live once, hope he does it at Elland Road Leeds 3rd June 2011. cant wait for it!!

  • @tonto1957 Lucky You!!

Enjoy it for me too :))

  • @tonto1957

I think he can't afford not to sing it!

  • Great post, the one and only version. Many thanks!
