@daddlepops i understand your point, but i can guarantee you 7 isn't slow, and unsafe/viruses, are the same thing, and there are free anti viruses, and page diagnostics, which tell you if a page contains viruses or not directly in browser, i use windows, and i got nothing against macs and i confirm that they are ahead in most thins
@dinonemesis True, True however, Whats the point paying around £120 to get rid of viruses? I'm a previous PC user and just bought a MacBook Pro and the performance, compatibility and no viruses is so worth the money.
I previously used XP for years and have recently jumped to W7 with my new laptop. I have been using Windows 7 for about a month now and I like it a lot. While of course it takes some getting used to (because the look is different), it does have many features which XP did not. Like anything else, once you become acclimated with a new OS it feels good. As long as Windows 7 remains stable I support it 100 percent.
@cesaretiv87 cause there isnt i think the new superbar is just a pain cause for instance if you have mutiple internet explorer pages open then first you have to point to the ie icon on the taskbar and then two thumbnails will pop out and then you have to click on the one you want which i think is very inconvinient cause i prefer the old taskbar way more and by the way i'm going back to xp and selling windows 7.
I got tired of all the leeches at msoft and the b.s. and just installed Ubuntu and never looked back. Why would you pay for something when you can get an alternative that is better for free.
I've upgraded from XP pro to 7 pro on my desktop, and I've upgraded from Vista Home Premium to 7 Home premium on my laptop. It`s nice (Much better than Vista!)
I'm a Windows 7 PC, I bought the Home Premium version and it's great I'm really happy and I really enjoy it. I installed it on an HP G60 3GB, 223 GB, 2.0 GHZ rated at 3.0 whatever.. and it runs great it had Windows Vista Home Premium and 7 is faster indeed
i want to ask you my computer has 2 hard drives, the another 1 is not used yet,can i backup my files to the other hard drive and will all my files be gone after i install windows 7 if my files are all in the other hard drive
@179716 No your other drive will be untouched. I did that on my laptop and HTPC with the beta version and the full release. I have XP on one hard drive partition and 7 on the other. The XP drive never got touched with either install and I have full access to the content on that drive as well. My HTPC had 3 other physical drive that had only my media on them and 7 didn't touch anything on those. Nothing lost and all still accessible.
Im glad that i skipped Vista (still running XP) since i heard/saw that it wasnt great. But i most definitely look forward to Win7 because im a PC gamer and ive been missing DX10 because XP doesn't support it. Based on everything i have read and seen as well as heard ive only heard good about Win7 and look forward to DX10 and a 64bit OS. I dont see any reason not to get Win7 (for a mac or PC but whats the point of a mac if u run windows???) hopefully ill get it for Xmas as well as a sick case
I am thinking of getting Windows 7 for my Laptop but I am not sure how the drivers work just yet. When I got my Laptop it had Windows Vista Basic but then I downgraded to Windows XP, which therefore I had to get Windows XP drivers. If I were to get Windows 7, do I need to get Windows 7 drivers? Or will Windows Vista drivers work?
Vista basic is faster than xp to me, i like vista basic alot better then xp pro. Didn't detect ur iphone, maybe vista doesn't like iphones lol. Who knows, i love the vista features there awesome, everything on my netbook detects whatever i want it to. Maybe thats cause i know what im doing, ive been kinda like a pc tech for a few years now, well i guess u can say i kinda am one, so whatever doesn't work on my pc i know HOW to get it working.
I got tired of PCs after 15 years so I tried using a mac. It works for me and does what I need it to do. I was thinking of running Windows 7 as a secondary system but currently do not see the need. Also the $200 price tag makes me hesitate.
i think theres a lot more variety and potential with freeware and hardware available for PC but if you need a good solid OS already coming with a bunch of programs and is clean and effortless to use Mac is great. i have both and i use them each for a lot of things :S
anyways i agree that Windows 7 is what Vista should have been. Oh little vista lol
I installed the 64 bit using bootcamp, worked fine! However bootcamp tries to block 64bit support for standard MacBooks, says you need a pro! Luckily a quick search on google found a way round this silly block. Works fine on my 13" MacBook (Oct2008 version). However its still nowhere near Snow Leopard, i will only be using it for Visual Studio development work I do.
Yup to install BootCamp64 for Windows 7 64bit run Command Prompt as Administrator. Search for cmd and right click and select "Run as Administrator" then type in the following at the command prompt...
D:
cd "Boot Camp\Drivers\Apple"
msiexec /i BootCamp64.msi
There ya go! Windows 7 64bit running perfectly with Boot Camp. :-)
already have it :D a million times faster than vista esp. for gaming, makes a lot more use of my ram and quad core. I am running a hackintosh on the same computer, just a different harddrrive adn they seem to run at about the same speed (bench's came out the same, which I found odd)
I won't be installing it (I have XP, so I don't need to upgrade right away), but the new PC I'm getting this December has it preloaded. I was in Walmart a few days ago, and there wasn't a single Visa machine in sight. It was beautiful...
wat do u do when u move something to the side and it gets stuck in the side of the screen. Ive tried restarting it, shutting it down closing the program and nothing still stuck on the side i cant even c it
From what I've been hearing it sounds like Windows 7 is a much better upgrade compared to Vista.
As for me Snow Leopard is the greatest upgrade I've ever made. My Mac Book (bought in January 2008) is 2 times faster, the installation recovered about 15 GB of space, my applications run with ease and it only cost me $29.
Yes, I've already installed it, and I Love it. Just like you said, it's everything Windows Vista should've been. Microsoft themselves actually said that aswell.
tried the limited beta (first 1 mil download or whatever (dled it by accident^^))
it does look like what vista should have been, and its still windows but its a huge step for me. not caring that much for mac and being unfamiliar to linux and a gamer at the same time does NOT give you that much of a choice.
at least hes not like all those fags who hate Windows or hate Apple, i think it take a big person to put aside the never ending battle against PC and Mac and realize that both corporations are as good as each other.
I'm installing it tomorrow. I've been using the release candidate for 2 months now. It's been stable, compatible with everything I had, and damn pretty.
No, im not going to download it. Its the same as Vista. Its just a little faster and has some new specs. Thats it, nothing new. Im staying with Vista.
i installed windows 7 yesterday and it runs great but when i was playing a game i had a lot of frame skips which i dont get from windows xp oh well =[
I will by a iMac 27 inch i5 in a month and will be installing Windows 7 this week on my pc and laptop. Used the beta and it is the "best Windows yet" to quote Apple marketing :P
I have Vista and I think it's great. It works awesomely for my laptop and I don't plan on paying for Windows 7 anytime soon. Even though I can get it for REALLY cheap.
I'm happy with my 2007 MacBook running Snow Leopard. I personally have no need for windows. But I did play with the release candidate a while ago, and it was a big improvement over vista. But Snow Leopard (and Leopard, too) put Windows 7 to shame.
I bought and installed windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and so far it's working as expected. My biggest fear was getting all my devices working, but it seems Windows just picked up the drivers and installed them as I plugged in my USB Devices. The device manager is a great tool. I use my windows machine for a very different purpose to my mac, so there is no point for me to draw a comparison. I can just say that Windows 7 is finally with the game.
My one dependence on Windows is, ironically, a piece of music software that basically powers my synth. Other than that, I don't use Windows for anything anymore - I'm a fulltime Ubuntu user now. So because I don't need much out of Vista, I use it as is.
On the other hand... it's still Windows - i.e., bloated, virus-prone, and more unstable than any of the other OSes out there.
I heard good things about Windows 7, but Windows just isn't my style. I'm no fanboy, just a fan of OS X. I'm looking forward to trying it out, though. The better Windows 7 is, the better it is for everyone; competition always yields innovation and improvement.
@smaviii - Does your PC have 8 Processors, 32 GB of Ram, 4 TB Hard Drive? Compatible with 100% Apps and Games? That's what I thought.
No, mine doesn't have those specs, but I will have one like that in a few years, when I live on my own. (I am only 17 and can't buy one of those on my Mickey Dee's Salary).
I'm watching this video on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Finally you can compare Windows with OS X, it's still a little bit clumsy but it is better then Vista, I guess that's all that matters.
I got one little problem though, after a few hours the screen turns black and I have to reboot my PC, what can this be?

Never, ever, ever, install a brand new OS thats bound to be full of bugs. I'll stick with Vista until a few service packs roll out.

I am never going to buy it. If I decide to install it, which i am going to do after a month, I am going to download it through torrent.
I haven't paid for any pc software and am not going to,. But ī am going to use it, it looks really promising.

Depends if my current laptop starts to fail.
It's running XP and I've had it for a good 3 years now.
I would buy a Mac,but they're to expensive.

MichaelGiardinello 2 years ago
installed the beta, i'm so gonna get it, even considering buying it. It's what vista should of been

GirolamiBass 2 years ago
@smaviii - Does your PC have 8 Processors, 32 GB of Ram, 4 TB Hard Drive? Compatible with 100% Apps and Games? That's what I thought.
No, mine doesn't have those specs, but I will have one like that in a few years, when I live on my own. (I am only 17 and can't buy one of those on my Mickey Dee's Salary).

Nah, gonna get a new comp with Win7 since my PC is old and is only good for XP

I hate windows. Macs are so much better.
XP was fine, not amazing by any standards, but Vista maybe me want to cry. I then switched to a mac, and I will never change back.
