@Jeremiah615BLC If everything is too small, then just turn the resolution down a little bit until the the size of everything is what you want it to be.
@thedarkengod It sounds like you may have to update your drivers. If you don't know how to do that, go to this link- (replace "(DOT)" with a "." and "(SLASH)" with a "/")
Thanks I was on minecraft and then I pressed f10 with fn pressed down as well and then everything went massive so I had to go on my iPod to see what to do and my screen is a bit better but how to I get top of my screen filled back in as well coz the sides are ok it's just at the top ov my screen wot is messed up
@GrAnGeR131 I'm not 100% sure, but it sounds like you need to pick a resolution that fits your screen better, try picking different resolutions to see if it gets any better. If not let me know.
thanks man I was playing this flash game then when i exited it it screwed my screen so everything was huge! I was desperately searching for a video for help so I dont get in trouble with my dad xD. Anyway thanks a lot, this really helped fix my screen :D
@XxXKissesFromKoriXxX It's no big deal that you don't have 2 monitors in the options. I have two because I purchased a new, different monitor for my computer, so it is showing me what the resolution would look like on both the new one and the old one.
OK well first off you can right click the desktop and select personalize, and two its a real shame that in this day and age people still cant understand simple basic functions for windows WINDOWS!!!!! something that is incredibly easy to use.
@Kanarfka my monitor keeps saying 1366/768 is recommended, but when i tried your thing it allowed me to change it to there BUT after it was done i go back and it still shows 1024/768. maybe i should restart my pc? did you do need to do that? Also, is the one i tried to change it to considered HD? i heard 720p is near hd so this is a bit higher than that or what? thanks
when i connect my laptop with my samsung hd tv the screen on my lap top gos all funny and everything is really big ,but on the tv i just have my screensaver and when i move my mouse out of the screen on my lap top it moves into the tv if that makes sence so its like i have two moniters. how do i get it so whatevers on the screen of my laptop it will show on my tv ? can you help???
my laptop screen resolution actually is 1360by758px. but suddenly a day I play a game then it change my screen to bigger (1280by768px) I try to change it back but my higest resolution show is only 1280by768px no more choice only 800by600px and this, what should I do? T.T
@Karyi083 Your video card driver might have been accidentally deleted, and your computer is using it's default driver. Try reinstalling/updating your drivers for your video adapter by going to your card manufacturer's website and looking for the download there (if you need more help with this then look at previous comments).
i played san andreas and the screen goes bigger when u open a game and my screen usually goes back to normal size and now its massive. ive only got 2 types! im on a laptop btw
@Kanarfka wait i tried it again and this time it asked if i want to save these new settings and i said yes and it worked BUT EVERYTHING IS NOW WAY SMALLER! all icons. start menu. even your video and another video became more square than rectangle like. why would it say this is recommended? it doesnt look more hd.
@Playitalready 1366x768 refers to the pixels on the monitor. There are 1366 pixels from left to right and 768 going from top to bottom. So between the two resolutions, you are adding pixels lengthwise. Now, this should result in everything being smaller, but I'm not sure how much smaller you are describing. I would say try some resolutions close to this one and see if there are any drastic changes. And yes, this is supposedly an HD resolution, since 1280x720 is the minimum HD resolution.
@Kanarfka smaller like i enlarged my desktop icons but they now appear at least as small as before and also your vid is scrunched more inward as in imagine you watched a dvd on a widescreen but then that SAME video is played now as if you have a 4;3 old standard ratio; the left and right extra is wasted and its no longer widesscreen. i tried most resolutions and putting it back to the 1 it was on that i first mentioned seems best (1024/768) any idea why it looks best? n is THAT hd too?
@Playitalready Just try different resolutions around the one that puts everything very small and see if it looks any better. If you don't like the way the resolution looks then just change it to a different one. Just because it is recommened doesn't mean you have to use it.
@Playitalready 1024/768 is considered HD, yes (xxxx/720 is generally considered the minimum of HD, and yours is over that). As for why it looks the best, it may just be that that resolution fits your monitor the best, since all monitors are different sizes, some are wider than others, some are more square.
@Kanarfka help; ive a deadline to buy a tv TODAY and need to know; my current connection is VGA on pc to VGA on this monitor (if you recall it is 768 aka HD) but is this really hd if it's done with vga and not hdmi?
ALSO; if i buy a 720p tv with vga how will signal be exactly? and if i choose tv with only hdmi...i need an expensive converter for connection or i just buy a cheap vga to hdmi cable? and in that case, how will signal be in comparison??
@Kanarfka ...i just noticed on the back of my pc there's 2 connections; how can i tell what is what; like what is hd or vga?? 1 is longer and purple with some i dont know what icon while the 1 i am using for my monitor has a monitor icon.
@Playitalready If you have the manual that came with the computer, it will tell you what each port on the back of the computer is for. If you don't have it, there is usually a digital one online, just look up "(your computer) manual".
@Kanarfka thanks. too bad you didn't answer the other email which was the more important one for some reason. i actually bought the tv now so only this portion is what im still wanting to know the answer to; my current connection is VGA on pc to VGA on this monitor (if you recall it is 768 aka HD) but is this really hd if it's done with vga and not hdmi? ALSO; if i buy a 720p tv but its connected to a pc with vga how will signal be exactly?
@Playitalready Hi again. Sorry for not responding to your other message- I did not see it. The difference between VGA and HDMI is how the signal is transmitted (VGA is analog and HDMI is digital). Being that VGA is analog means that it can be affected by cable quality (bad cable quality=worse picture) and other factors which can degrade quality. Digital will always show the picture how it is supposed to be, and will not degrade. At 768, there SHOULD be no quality difference between the two.
@Playitalready Oh and with the TV, the VGA will be able to handle whatever you put through it. Like I said in my other comment, the only difference is that VGA will be susceptible to interferrece from other sources (like if you had a huge cheap cable, the quality would be worse). Other than that, as long as your TV can support the connection to the computer, it will work fine.
@Petrovic23 It doesn't make a difference if there are two screens or not. I replaced my screen from the one that came with the computer so it is showing how it would affect either.
@showeringsuns Try updating your graphics card driver by going to the manufacturer's website and looking for any updates. You graphics card is listed under "DIsplay Adapters" in "Device Manager" (just search device manager in your start menu)
@harpreettak Try updating your video card drivers. To do this, go to Control Panel>System and Maintenance>Device Manager then double click on "Display Adapters" and then your video card. Go to the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver", then select to automatically search for driver updates. If this doesn't work, you can go to your video card manufacturer's website and look for the download.
ok I have a problem, you know when we go to the the display settings and then move this arrow to low or high but there is no option to make it medium or anything and I can't change the monitor settings. Please help me out.. Thnaks
@harpreettak So you are saying that it will only let you set it to two settings (two different notches)? What kind of a monitor do you have? Some of the settings may be unavailable if you have a square screen rather than a widescreen.

Help! I need a software that will make my pc 32 bit and up to 1680x1050 resolution please! it looks horrible! my pc doesnt identify my monitor correctly.
Isn't it easier just to right-click the desktop, choose "Personalize" and then choose "Display Setting" rather than all that start menu and search silliness?
when i was playing a gane i put the res to high so it said vga not compatable so i cant get back on the game and thats the only way to change is there a way to change game res without geting on ther game
@stevengiangz2009 Generally speed of a game runs at is effected by your computer's processing power and such, no so much by the screen resolution or color settings. Unless there is a specific fix for the game you are playing that involves changing the bit size or resolution, it won't help much.
@6151dj The problem is your video card drivers. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed. To do this, go to your computer manufacturer's website, search for your model, and download the latest drivers, then install them.
@coppincopp What kind of a computer do you have- is it a labtop or windows xp? When exactly does it go black- after you enter your password? after getting to the decktop? after the welcome screen?
@Kanarfka i got windows vista, not laptop. when i turn on the comp it load and before i can log on the computer the screen turn into black and it stands i need to change frequency. you got it now?
when i was playing maplestory and i exit the game than it became so big 800x600 i think i need it to be 1024x768 and i went to the computer and the change screen thing like u did but it said it was a previous version and it said i need to upgrade a new driver version how do we do that
Start>Control Panel>System and Maintenance>Device Manager (click continue)
From there, double click "display adapters" then double click your card (it should be the only thing there). Then go to the "driver" tab then click "update driver".
@Kanarfka Can you reply me on this pls , my scrreen when i off and on it back , it says ''analog'' , but with that word , its suppose to be the highest , but i changed it to the lowest ,supoose all the object are small , the word is still ''analog'' instead of digital . If its digital my computer dosen't lag at all .
@Grandh0loSin Could you explain a little more? Are you saying that when you power your monitor off then on, the resolution is reset and it goes from Digital to Analog, and you want it in Digital? Or is your computer lagging on Analog and you want to change it to Digital? I just need a little more clarification.
@Kanarfka i meant the word''analog'' is on my cmputer . i meant , if you duno what i'm saying , you can try to off and power your monitor again . Well , i change it to the lowest resoultion , it should be digital but my computer stays at analog no matter what . So i wan digital .
@Grandh0loSin To change your screen to Digital, you need to plug in a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) Cable from the DVI port on your computer to the DVI port on your monitor. Only dedicated graphics cards will have a DVI port. I'm assuming you have an LCD monitor, because the lag you are getting usually happens when you are running a Digital monitor (LCD screens are natually Digital) with a VGA (analog) connection to your computer, or when you use the VGA port on the LCD monitor.
@Kanarfka Well , i'm 14 , i'm quite sure what you are saying . i lag only with analog ,
So computer shops sell this ? Well , my computer is a one of a kind , it resets time by its own , not the files , when i got it fix , its digital , but after playing 3weeks , its analog ....after update my driver from nvidia ....its digital again . And the ''plugs'' you were saying , have to be bought from shops ? Coz i dun have any extra plugs left.
@Kanarfka And , some random questions here , i was wondering , does windows resoultion affects my gaming ? My video card is Nvdia Geforce 8400GS 3D , i wonder if its suitable for left for dead 2?
i have to change the resoltion of my gaming to the lowest to prevent lag . Well , any solutions for solving the lag?As i'm play expert it affect alot when lag in the picture , alot of damge :( ..Thanks for your help on screens
@Grandh0loSin Lag could be caused by a number of things. Windows resolution most likely isn't the cause of the lag. The problem could be things other than your graphics card like your RAM or memory or computer temperature. If you computer is working too hard, it slows down games. Try defraging your computer, updating your drivers, and deleting unused programs. Let me know if you need help with any of that. Does the lag only happen on L4D or is it on other games?
@Kanarfka Btw , i done what nessscery on people's recommand of reducing lag .
Change windows to 2000 mode , off ''show destrop icon'' , use advanced system care to clear virus and defrag . Used game booster too . Btw , all this programs are uselss when ''analog'' is there . And i'm pretty sure that word is the cause of all my lag . it can't be virus , i just got my com fix , and i told myself not to anymore acess to random websites as i spent 100dollar over my gaming .
@Kanarfka Lag only happens when analog is there . :) So i guess is windows resoultion . Only when the word ''digital'' is there , it dosent lag at all . Only big maps it may lag just a little only . When analog appears , its lag is that something that i can't play on fps games . All of it .
@Kanarfka Btw , my computer got fixed a couple of time with warrany during 3years , about twice a year . All the problems were cause AFTER the word came out , ''analog'' . I guess it might be video card problems or they didn't replace it with a new one . Thanks for your help anyway ! :)
i should use 1680 x 1050 and whene i put a game in 1680 x 1050 next time i restart the computer the resolution from the game it reset's to a lower resolution and whene i try to change it i cant make it back to 1680 to 1050 i dont have and i cant not choze 1680 x 1050 cuz it;s only 1600 - 1200 or lower and 1680 with 1050 it's no longer an option what should i do ..
@UzumakiYodaime What game are you trying to change the resolution on? A game's resolution is different from the computer's resolution setting, so they are unaffected by each other. It is most likely the game's issue and not your computer's- let me know what game it is and I can look into it more.
@SailorMoonGirlGirl If you set your resolution to a widescreen resolution, it should expand to fit your screen if you get the setting that fits your monitor.
@denjay99 If it says unsupported pc output, that most likely means that the resolution you are trying to set it to is not available with the monitor you currently have. Are you saying that you changed it from the default setting to something else, and it won't change back?
Are you pressing the "Yes, keep this setting" button after you press "apply"? You need to press "yes" or else it will change back. If it doesn't even change at all, then make sure that the setting you are trying to change it to is applicable for your monitor.
I try to set my screen resolution to the highest resolution but when I click apply it automatically changes back to the lowest. I have done this before and it worked but now it doesn't. any help?
I have found a forum post that seems to have the same problem that you have, I'll give you the link in a personal message because it won't let me post links in comments.
Is it resetting right after you change it or after you reboot your computer or wake it up from sleep mode? Are you on a user account or administrator account? Let me know and I'll get you a more specific link to help you fix your issue.
@techdecknoob100 I think I have a solution- when you try to set your resolution to something that your monitor cannot support, it will go black for a few seconds and then change back to what you had. For example, if you have a square monitor, and you try to change it to a widescreen only setting, it will change back. What monitor are you using and what are you trying to set the resolution to? Try different resolutions and see if any other ones work.
Hey dude I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit and My graphics Card is from 2002 its a standard card and I have Directx 11 and Updated it but its current Resolution is 640X480 and it wont go up further is there any way to make the screen smaller and not bigger due to my Card or Do I have to buy a new Graphics Card? Please Help
Try this alternate route- right click on the desktop, then select personalize. From there, click display settings and it should bring you to the resolution screen.
If it is the game's resolution that you want to change, you will have to change it via the game's settings. Almost every game has resolution settings- they sould be in an options screen or display settings.
hey man i try to fix my resolution to fit my screen when i connect to a tv but the bottom and top and the sides are cut off . i cant find a right resolution.
@DizzyHips to open the display settings in Vista - click on the Start Menu, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Personalization, click Personalization, and then click Display Settings.
What do you mean by "normal"? Because for many monitors, the default or "normal" setting is 800x600. Do you have a widescreen? What are you trying to change it to?

@showeringsuns Try updating your graphics card driver by going to the manufacturer's website and looking for any updates. You graphics card is listed under "DIsplay Adapters" in "Device Manager" (just search device manager in your start menu)

thanks for gettin back to me .. Yea so the problem is that there are only two options.. And I'm using hp pavillion what do I do?
harpreettak 1 year ago
@harpreettak Try updating your video card drivers. To do this, go to Control Panel>System and Maintenance>Device Manager then double click on "Display Adapters" and then your video card. Go to the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver", then select to automatically search for driver updates. If this doesn't work, you can go to your video card manufacturer's website and look for the download.

@harpreettak So you are saying that it will only let you set it to two settings (two different notches)? What kind of a monitor do you have? Some of the settings may be unavailable if you have a square screen rather than a widescreen.

Isn't it easier just to right-click the desktop, choose "Personalize" and then choose "Display Setting" rather than all that start menu and search silliness?

Would my game run faster if i change my screen resolution to the lowest and the colors is medium (16 bit )
stevengiangz2009 1 year ago
@stevengiangz2009 Generally speed of a game runs at is effected by your computer's processing power and such, no so much by the screen resolution or color settings. Unless there is a specific fix for the game you are playing that involves changing the bit size or resolution, it won't help much.

@violetbook To update your driver go to:
Start>Control Panel>System and Maintenance>Device Manager (click continue)
From there, double click "display adapters" then double click your card (it should be the only thing there). Then go to the "driver" tab then click "update driver".

@Kanarfka Can you reply me on this pls , my scrreen when i off and on it back , it says ''analog'' , but with that word , its suppose to be the highest , but i changed it to the lowest ,supoose all the object are small , the word is still ''analog'' instead of digital . If its digital my computer dosen't lag at all .
Grandh0loSin 1 year ago
@Grandh0loSin Could you explain a little more? Are you saying that when you power your monitor off then on, the resolution is reset and it goes from Digital to Analog, and you want it in Digital? Or is your computer lagging on Analog and you want to change it to Digital? I just need a little more clarification.
Kanarfka 1 year ago
@Kanarfka i meant the word''analog'' is on my cmputer . i meant , if you duno what i'm saying , you can try to off and power your monitor again . Well , i change it to the lowest resoultion , it should be digital but my computer stays at analog no matter what . So i wan digital .
Grandh0loSin 1 year ago
@Grandh0loSin To change your screen to Digital, you need to plug in a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) Cable from the DVI port on your computer to the DVI port on your monitor. Only dedicated graphics cards will have a DVI port. I'm assuming you have an LCD monitor, because the lag you are getting usually happens when you are running a Digital monitor (LCD screens are natually Digital) with a VGA (analog) connection to your computer, or when you use the VGA port on the LCD monitor.
Kanarfka 1 year ago
@Kanarfka Well , i'm 14 , i'm quite sure what you are saying . i lag only with analog ,
So computer shops sell this ?

Grandh0loSin 1 year ago
@Grandh0loSin Lag could be caused by a number of things. Windows resolution most likely isn't the cause of the lag. The problem could be things other than your graphics card like your RAM or memory or computer temperature. If you computer is working too hard, it slows down games. Try defraging your computer, updating your drivers, and deleting unused programs. Let me know if you need help with any of that. Does the lag only happen on L4D or is it on other games?
Kanarfka 1 year ago
@Kanarfka Btw , i done what nessscery on people's recommand of reducing lag .
Change windows to 2000 mode , off ''show destrop icon'' , use advanced system care to clear virus and defrag . Used game booster too . Btw , all this programs are uselss when ''analog'' is there . And i'm pretty sure that word is the cause of all my lag . it can't be virus , i just got my com fix , and i told myself not to anymore acess to random websites as i spent 100dollar over my gaming .
Grandh0loSin 1 year ago
@Kanarfka Lag only happens when analog is there . :) So i guess is windows resoultion . Only when the word ''digital'' is there , it dosent lag at all . Only big maps it may lag just a little only . When analog appears , its lag is that something that i can't play on fps games . All of it .
Grandh0loSin 1 year ago

UzumakiYodaime 1 year ago
@UzumakiYodaime What game are you trying to change the resolution on? A game's resolution is different from the computer's resolution setting, so they are unaffected by each other. It is most likely the game's issue and not your computer's- let me know what game it is and I can look into it more.

why my PC not been revert back to normal resulotion??????its says unsupported pc output.?????????why tell me pls??????????????????
denjay99 1 year ago
@denjay99 If it says unsupported pc output, that most likely means that the resolution you are trying to set it to is not available with the monitor you currently have. Are you saying that you changed it from the default setting to something else, and it won't change back?

techdecknoob100 1 year ago
Are you pressing the "Yes, keep this setting" button after you press "apply"? You need to press "yes" or else it will change back. If it doesn't even change at all, then make sure that the setting you are trying to change it to is applicable for your monitor.

@Kanarfka its reseting AFTER i change it

@Kanarfka give me the link plz
techdecknoob100 1 year ago
@techdecknoob100 I think I have a solution- when you try to set your resolution to something that your monitor cannot support, it will go black for a few seconds and then change back to what you had. For example, if you have a square monitor, and you try to change it to a widescreen only setting, it will change back. What monitor are you using and what are you trying to set the resolution to? Try different resolutions and see if any other ones work.

How do you change the resolution of a full screen game?
I want to make it run at 640 x 480
but it doesn't work.
VerseOnGameKiss 2 years ago
If it is the game's resolution that you want to change, you will have to change it via the game's settings. Almost every game has resolution settings- they sould be in an options screen or display settings.
