Wow, that comment completely made my day.
Yes, I agree with you in how they are pretty solid (especially considering how he smokes like a chimney, lol) and how it fits the song, but without everything else in the background like in the normal version, it just sounds quite silly.
That being said, Josh Homme is still probably one of the best vocalists ever.
