I personally take a very existential view of life purposes, where there isn't really a meaning to why anyone is here, except for the meaning that we ourselves give to our lives, which some people find depressing, but I actually think makes me more eager to do good things. The meaning of my life is what I decide It should be, which for me is to just make the world a better place for others. It's a cliché concept, but I really just want to better the world. So our viewpoints differ a bit on that

At 18, last year and this year many of my friends wanted some advice on how to decide on a major. My advice was to find out a purpose for yourself (mine would be to make people happy), and then finding a way that involves your interests to achieve that (I'm studying architecture because I know that through the design of environments I can influence people and their quality of life)

There's this boy I used to like and I told him. He was and is very nice to me. He's helped ne through alot of hard times without even knowing. Now I just really wanna be his friend. This video kinda inspired me. My mom, and my older brother are both RN nurses. They make great money and their job is about helping others. I want to be just like them. I'm 13, and in middle school. I have okay grades but I focus on socializing too much. I also never do homework. My goals are to care about school, get perfect grades, and someday be where my mom and brother are. :)

I really loved this video...I basically quite dreaming after I had an injury at a dance competition. All because I could never dance again, but I put my passion into preventing injuries and working with athletes. I still have tons of schooling to go and a lot of people discouraged me from going into such a career, but this video really did make me realize that despite my life going in a different path, that I still do need to expand myself and continue to keep dreaming big. I really appreciated it after hearing an old man tell me today that I dont deserve to have a publicly supported education and I "didnt understand" because "cuts had to be made to balance our states budget. (I'm from Wisconsin). I spent the rest of the day wondering why we couldnt just stop giving tax breaks to corporations instead of cutting education and healthcare which better our world. You really made my day so much better =)

I'm a huge believer in god and I do think everything & everyone is here for a reason. I have tons of dreams! I want to help kids who are bullied, help animals, go to school for special effects makeup, etc. However, they all require money. I help my sick parents 24/7 and have $9 in the bank. I even made a video of me crying on youtube about it lol. I want college or a car more than anything. I will never get enough money for it and my life resolves around my sick parents.

I really needed to hear this. I recently experienced the pain of a dying dream, and it left me in this place where I was afraid to dream again. Now I have the courage to pursue my desires again.

i keep trying to be the person who's positive about my dreams and all, but it's extremely hard to, to be completely honest, im pretty sure the only way my dreams can happen is if i some how win the lottery because it's insanely expensive to do the things i wanna do, so i kinda wanna just give up, even though i haven't really even started yet, i don't know what to do though, i don't wanna be the person to give up but i feel like i dream too big

I wish things could work out as wonderful as you make them sound. Dreaming of great things doesn't always = great things. Sometimes you have to suck it up and work a crappy job to pay the bills. I can dream all I want of fantastic things, but unfortunately my landlord won't accept that. College education and all, the economy sucks, and my dream job just isn't hiring, haha, and I don't have a second income spouse to rely on while I dream away :\

I really want to major in something fashion/business related (fashion merchandising/marketing type thing) but I feel like that can come off as an evil and superficial area, and I don't want people to think that of me, because I'm definitely not that kind of person. I know several people who are studying in that field of work, and who ARE in that field of work and none of them come close to being "evil". If you are a geniune, kind, hard-working person who is working towards your goals and dreams, no one will think that of you. & if a select few do, who cares? I love you but I couldn't watch all of this one. I have severe ME right now and I can dream all I want but I can't stay out of bed for more than 5 minutes and I'm stuck in this room. When I was doing better I worked so hard to recover but I ended up housebound and now bed bound. I'm sure you can understand how much I want to put in 120% but for now I'll sit this one out. I am soon going to have to start deciding about university and a future career for myself. The problem is I don't know what I want to do as a job, all I know is that I want to travel and teach or somthing in underprivalged countries such as Africa. Yet I dont how how its possible for me to get there. I cant just travel the world and see all the things I crave to see with no money or security.

I think she means that anyone no matter there situation is meant for something big but they need to work for it. And it doesn't even have to be something superficial like make tons of money.

God's heart breaks to see this but he isn't a genie to just fix things..we must pray for wisdom and take action.

Im like no and told him that the way I live in the US even if I am considered below middle class.... I 100 percent agree. There was definately a time where I was in a major rut because I was just going by on day to day life. I never quit dreaming necessarily but I never took steps to try and get to the dream. Now every day I make sure to do something that just makes me feel like I am going somewhere

i keep trying to be the person who's positive about my dreams and all, but it's extremely hard to, to be completely honest, im pretty sure the only way my dreams can happen is if i some how win the lottery because it's insanely expensive to do the things i wanna do, so i kinda wanna just give up, even though i haven't really even started yet, i don't know what to do though, i don't wanna be the person to give up but i feel like i dream too big

I wish things could work out as wonderful as you make them sound. Dreaming of great things doesn't always = great things. Sometimes you have to suck it up and work a crappy job to pay the bills. I can dream all I want of fantastic things, but unfortunately my landlord won't accept that. College education and all, the economy sucks, and my dream job just isn't hiring, haha, and I don't have a second income spouse to rely on while I dream away :\

I really want to major in something fashion/business related (fashion merchandising/marketing type thing) but I feel like that can come off as an evil and superficial area, and I don't want people to think that of me, because I'm definitely not that kind of person. @californiacation93 Honestly, that image of "superficial-ness" is a complete stereotype. I know several people who are studying in that field of work, and who ARE in that field of work and none of them come close to being "evil". If you are a geniune, kind, hard-working person who is working towards your goals and dreams, no one will think that of you. & if a select few do, who cares? It's impossible to make everyone happy, so focus more on making yourself happy(:

I love you but I couldn't watch all of this one. I have severe ME right now and I can dream all I want but I can't stay out of bed for more than 5 minutes and I'm stuck in this room. When I was doing better I worked so hard to recover but I ended up housebound and now bed bound. I'm sure you can understand how much I want to put in 120% but for now I'll sit this one out. You go for it though ;) x x

I am soon going to have to start deciding about university and a future career for myself. The problem is I don't know what I want to do as a job, all I know is that I want to travel and teach or somthing in underprivalged countries such as Africa. Yet I dont how how its possible for me to get there. I cant just travel the world and see all the things I crave to see with no money or security.

The children starving and dying are results of peoples decisions somewhere down the line, yes it's awful, but it's not something that God has decided to do. We all have free will and unfortunate things happen on Earth, but it's because of US. (Sorry not a lot of space to explain my point!) xx

And I know that isn't the best answer, but we all effect each other in some way, even if that thing is really small. I don't think its a matter of religion either because a ton of my friends are prominent atheists and they believe the same thing.

We can't blame that on God..he gave us free will, we choose what to do with it...and sometimes our decisions affect the people of this world. God's heart breaks to see this but he isn't a genie to just fix things..we must pray for wisdom and take action.

@IHeArTrOcK20 I didnt even think of it like that! That is kinda crumby. Its almost like saying theyd be better off not being born or something! You never know who's gonna have the cure for cancer. Plus I think we judge how other people should live with our American lifestyle. I lived in Mexico my 7th grade year.... didnt even have a toliet and ate beans like every day but i never missed living in America that year.

@joi1989 I kind of agree with this.... My son asked me if we were poor cause we live in an apartment. Im like no and told him that the way I live in the US even if I am considered below middle class.... We live better than most people in other countries and that we couldnt even begin to imagine what truly being poor is.

Those people cannot "dream big" when their main concern is basic survival because their government is corrupt. People are born into this world based on their circumstance, not for a higher purpose. People who are lucky enough to be able to dream big and have achieved success in whatever form did so because of the choices they made and hard work. Or they just had enough money.

People like to say, look at that tragedy... and they shake their head but don't help. What good is it to point out the obvious then say its someone elses fault or problem. Religious or not I think we can all agree to be better and more helping.

Gods plan is of great complexity and will never be fully understood even by those who follow him. Just as you do not know everything neither do "religious" people. @MsHalieann Some people think that God is hateful. But God more loving than anyone could imagine. So I tried to comment in a non-hateful manner, and some people will still take it offensively. If there is one thing I've learned from God and the bible, it's that I am supposed to love people to the best of my ability, even strangers on the internet. Im sorry if people in your life and "religion" have caused you to believe that God is hateful. But that is the complete opposite of what he truly is

However, the person I was talking to WAS interested in Gods plan and was questioning it, so as a christian, I told them my view. Just the same way you are an atheist, and saw my "christian" comment so decided to reply. And yes, I do feel worthwhile and happy, but we all have different beliefs and I understand if you were offended by my comment.

I 100 percent agree. There was definately a time where I was in a major rut because I was just going by on day to day life. I never quit dreaming necessarily but I never took steps to try and get to the dream. Now every day I make sure to do something that just makes me feel like I am going somewhere
