I found a phone that was introduced in Britain in 1940, an "interthrough" office phone. I found it while antiqueing in La Porte, Indiana a couple of years ago. I almost didn't buy it because of the cost but I am so glad I did. It's quite a different looking phone. Nice rotary dial sound too.
I don't think he's so stupid not to know how to gesture the hand. But it looks more like he dialled it that way so that we could clearly see what number he was dialing, for the sake of demonstration.
hey guys, i'm gonna build a skype telephone by taking an old telephone, emptying it's guts, and sneak a microphone and headphone jack where the tel. line goes
that's cool, i'm 23 and just scored myself a 746 phone off the wall of a customer's house who didn't want it anymore. can't get it to ring though as i don't know how to wire it for 2 wire. here in NZ our pulse dialing is around backwards, 9 pulses dials the number 1 and visa versa.
I have one of those! Mines green though, with a dark green handset. It's cool 'cause we can use it here because my exchange still accepts pulse dialling.
wow uk phones really sucked compared to american bell phones... and our gov't saw it fit to destroy at&t??

its called aTrim phone and they used to have illuminous dials so you could see the numbers in the dark

The hand demonstrating looked very awkward/unnatural, as if the person had never actually used a rotary dial before.

I've just got an old gpo 706 dial phone from ebay. The sound that an old dial phone makes is almost orgasmic.....Do you think I need to see a shrink?

Very cool, what was it wired up too. I like phone for its simple lines and boxy look.

The device it was wired up to was an Oscilloscope.
