• You say Lady gaga, I say Smashing Pumpkins You say Eminem, I say Bullet For My Valentine You say Madonna, I say Metallica You say Taylor Swift, I say STFU! You say Snoop dogg, I say Greenday You say Jonas Brother, I say Blink-182 You say Soulja Boy, I Say Likin-Park. You say Britney Spears, I say Evanessence. You say Pop, I say "HAIL NO!" You say rap, I scream ROCK!!! 92% Of teens have turned to pop, MINORITY paste this to 10 other vids! LET THE ROCK LIVE ON!
• @Manga0luvr0geek awsome!

• @Manga0luvr0geek, greenday, blink 182, linkin park, and evanessence all them

BLOW.

i dont like rap but maybe you should start listening to respectable rock. none of those bands should be in the same text as smashing pumpkins, please.

• @MrsMachin3 Green Day do not blow. Whatever about all the rest, even if you don't listen to them, Green Day do not blow.

• Deep man. Deep

• Immutable...

• Immutable...

• THIS IS MY RELIGION :=)

• Hey that's the fat dude from Borat

• Seriously I haven't been able to stop listening to this on repeat.Takes me back. Stunning. Just stunning. ♥

• just breathtakingly beautiful

• Billy was going for EPIC here. Machina was his last effort to save rock/alt. He's still fighting the good fight. Glad he's still at it.

• I cry everytime I watch it...

• It's a tribute to Salomé, MTV is culture-less so they wouldn't know art.

• boomer!

• All MTV plays nowadays is lady gaga shit. and 16 and pregnant. do you seriously expect them to have any taste in good music?

• MTV does not know art. or music. obviously

• @2paranoid2think or anything meaningful

• @2paranoid2think mtv's awards are based solely off of popularity, not actual musical ability. A three year old could think of a catchy pop song, and become famous off of it... the pumpkins r the ones that deserve more praise

• Best Smashing Pumpkins music video!

• MTV on plays music around 3-6 in the morning. the M in MTV stands for "Mindless programming". it fuckin sucks!

• one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen

we're still behind sp and billy so mtv can suck a d**k

• MTV don't know shit

• this is such a beautiful and sweet song....romance isn't dead in this song....i love it.

• AVATAR YOURSELF!

• the fat guy...hes in the movie borat lol

• this video is a fuckin masterpiece, amazing... most of pumpkins video are, like 33; I don't have words to express the feeling of what im seeing at this videos :)

• Me encanta esta cancion es la mejor del disco.

• Bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and Soundgarden are what MADE MTV popular to watch. If it sucks now, that means we've got an increasingly shittier amount of bands today.

• no wonder why I like this song..we have the name lol

• i bet u guys did not know that billy was a pisces!

• @XxMadMax593 i knew, cus i'm one myself too.

• Pumpkins never get old!

• @WolfmanJoeHunter Uhh, yeah they do. I don't much enjoy their new stuff or anything after Melon Collie

• i love this song smashing pumpkins ftw forever

• Love the smashing pumpkins older music. The new stuff that they did wasn't so good. Maybe because Billy Corgan was the only returning smashing pumpkin from the original band

• This video is so awesome. I get the message as at the end with the guillotine and he kisses her foot and there's the big bloody sheets and empty wind noise that Billy is ready to die for her love. So beautiful. The fat man is truly nasty, but he's painted that way because he is the villian. It tells a story. Anybody offended by this video is just deriving their own negative vibe from the imagery.

• This band is amazing, i grew up listening to them and will be with me till i die!

• this is evil stuff, in the name JEsus Christ i rebuke this, look at thier earlyer videos before 2000 an youll know waht im talking about, grace to you.

• YES BILLY HE SO SYMBOLIC WITH HIS SHITT

• @stoneymatthews don't think so, looks like melissa in the vid

• the fat guy is jimmy chamberlain in disguise lol awesome though

• someone says "dad" at 2:01

• jimmy page

• This song is amazeing but jame iha looks weird and so does that fat guy licking is bobey or whatever

• Listening to this makes me cry. The nostalgia is too heavy. Thank you God for giving us Billy and his music. Thanks for shining a light through the darkness.

• @ryanluvsthesamples Nostalgia is idealized thinking, feeling it or not is completely up to you. Seeing as we do not have time machines, I would suggest letting it go, as there is no other way to bring the past to present.

• @0RockaRolla0 there's nothing wrong with feeling "nostalgic".. I prefer to call it remembering..none the less.. it is what it is..and sometimes..its ok to re-live in those moments for a bit.. its sweet and fullfilling.. for me, and Im only speaking for me, it feels good to remember..and feel it again..

• @badlydrawnkristi Alright, as long as you don't let it make you hate the present.

• @badlydrawnkristi You should listen to M83 and Silversun Pickups then, good modern bands that have a pumpkinsy feeling.

• @Gamagachee POETS OF THE FALL AER GREAT

• @Gamagachee

Hehe....pumpkinsy! Cutest word ever.

• @ryanluvsthesamples I saw him live. He came out in a dress and started swearing at the crowd. He's an arrogant, horrible person.

• @taegukki I could care less. I just love his music. I don't have to love HIM! :)

• @taegukki He was probably trying to get attention on him..all lead singers do it at one point....i agree...maybe it was not the best of ways...the music is still all that truly matters though...

• @ryanluvsthesamples I am crying right now not sobbing just tears are rolling down my face but because this song brings back alot of sad memories, but also alot of good memories.

• "The Mystery of Love is greater than The Mystery of Death." beautiful.

• omg, ♥

• The best video of alternative love rock! Billy thank you for this amazing song and this marvellous history and video. Thank you WIZ for directed it.

Love It, and I believed that this is the best video of The Smashing Pumpkins!

• They way they're dressed reminds me of the cenobites from Hellraiser! Sexy mofos.

• I love the vision that Billy was travelling down with the Pumpkins at this time - from The Thirty-Three clip onwards. It was kinda nouveau-retro-gothic-Steam-punk-21st century-elegance! I loved it but it ended when the Pumpkins ended the first time.

• are they all wearing like dresses or cloaks or what is that ?

• you live music lol

• Has anyone tried a violin or cello bow on an electric guitar before ?

• Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin. But he was way high i think. It sounded awful.

• LOL

• I tried one of my telecaster. sounds almost like nothing. the only string it works on is the E string. it just makes this lame sound, kinda trippy if you could work it into a song though.

• @AveryMarx0

As far as I know, Jimmy Page (Led Zep) was the first to do it in Dazed and Confused in 1968.

• Saw a live performance of it, that is pretty awesome !

• naw but definitely going to fuck with it n see what happens

• lrn2JimmyPage

• I havent heard Machina 2 , i did like the slight change for Machina 1 in guitar though. Is Machina 2 similar to Machina 1 in style or is it slightly more classic Pumpkins ?

• @AveryMarx0 it's sorta back to the classic pumpkins really

• Hey... i know the fat guy is Ken Davitian, the actor from Borat. But who plays the dancer ? The one Billy Corgan falls in love with ? She's just gorgeous !!!

• it is his then girlfriend Yelena Yemchuk. She directed the Zero and 33 videos and was a big part of his life until they split in 2005. Shame really cos he has done nothing like this stuff recently, it all sounds so strained now.

• Was this song on Machina 2?

• @SmashingPumpkid no it was on machina 1 song #3. best sp song ever!

• i totally agree, sp is an amazing band i love like all their songs

• even though he's quite creepy, he's very pretty too, isn't he?

• My favorite one, this song is magical, sublime...

• Love this song, one of my favourites by the Pumpkins.

That fat guy broke the lid of the toilet seat when he sat down!

• Also there is a flash of red after when Billy kisses the girls foot, when the king or whoever points his finger, which I think is supposed to be blood, you can also see for a moment the blade from the beginning of the video, and then as they both drift up together in the end her dress appears stained with blood.

• First time i watched it i never noticed the flash of red or the blade moving up and that stuff on her dress could be the black water but blood seems more likely as the red flashes just before.

• just sublime, fuck the mtv, don't even mind their rankings, they're full of commercial shit.

• i think the song is great but the video is tweaking

• At 1:38 its Borat's manager Azamat Bagatov!

• lol omg it's true

• Comment removed

• I believe MTV voted this as the worst video of 98. Wat were they thinking.

• @Tmh21791

Instead it's beautiful, very artistic and uncommon. MTV sucks. Today is unwatchable.

• @Tmh21791 This song came out in 2000..... And the music video is fine, way better than Everlasting gaze.

• @Tmh21791 they dont think lol there just stuiped i mean they dont have music any more its effing retardted this is a good song and a good music video all tho its weird at first

• @Tmh21791 Well look at the shit MTV puts on their channel now; utter bullshit. So they were definitely wrong in that.

• @Tmh21791 wow ru serious? they r fucking dumb

• @Tmh21791 noone cares what mtv does anymore....two words, Jersey Shore.

• @Tmh21791 that just pisses me off haha

• @Tmh21791 This video came out after 98, I'm sure some Pumpkins fans already corrected your ignorance....

• @Tmh21791 no, not 1998. that would be ava adore probably. this would be 2000

• @Tmh21791 pumpkins was just ahead of their time. Now a days this would be a number one video. just look at jay-z's new vids.

• @Tmh21791 Actually this song came out in 2000. I know, I have it on vinyl.

• Its because MTV is a mainstream, ignorant teeny channel these days.

• @disgretion based on the age groups in these dumb reality shows on MTV, it seems to me that MTV is only trying to target only teenyboppers

• @Tmh21791 Machina came out in 2000 and not 1998.

• @Tmh21791 mtv sucks 2 much

• @Tmh21791 does mtv even think?

• @Tmh21791 yeah, well they also call themselves "Music" Television, so who gives a shit what they think

• @Tmh21791

Is that possible, though? This song was released on a 2000 album. Adore was released in '98, I think.

• @Tmh21791

MTV Is pure shit imo :]

• I just realized the significance of the view changing from oval to rectangle and the significance of the black and white. This video is really beautiful.

• What's the sgnificance?... i don't know

• When the view is thru a rectangle, he is longing for her, also noticed that when the rectangle is up there is usually darkness, while when u see the oval there is more light and you see things from her perspective, the girl that Billy is apparently infatuated with. Also Billy wears black, she wears white in the video. Also its important to note there is a moment of color in the video where Billy kisses her foot.

• Holy shit, the violin guitar is epic.

• im 22 but this is so great, now mtv is just pop and stupid things my generation is lost.

• @tomstrok3s

it's true. and sad. lady gaga is overrated. long live rock and roll.

• god, what a song.. one of the best of the smash group!! we miss such emotions!

• please check out my channel. my bands music is all original material heavilly influanced by the great 90's bands. if you have a spare 5 min give it a listen. jus give them a chance to kick in, hope you like it

• i agree the video's lacking cept the very beginning that quote sums up this song very well
