Something about this game struck me as particularly intriguing: that walls have some sort of 'breathing type' requirement.

@svartiske If it's like the earlier versions of TOME, you can teleport into walls (or become incorporeal and pass through) but you'll start suffocating. It can be very useful for avoiding enemies though!

Definitely a neat game! I love roguelikes, but couldn't really ever get behind the controls and interfaces that a lot of them use. This one seems a lot more approachable- I think I will give it a shot. Good stuff Jef.

Having too much fun with this game. Thanks again Jef. First character I went with the non magic based elf for an arcane warrior. Very cool class. 23% chance to cast fireball or Lightning bolt whenever I hit something in melee. Very accessible for a rogue like. Not quite as much as Dungeons of Dredmor but it's a bit more pure and lacks the "lulz" humor that DoD has.

@RobbieApok When I did my start up I was apparently in a winter forest trying to kill a giant feral bear. So it looks random every time which is a nice change from Ivan and that damned plant monster.

@RobbieApok No. Your starting scenario is dependent upon which race you select. Halflings/Humans start in the area I started in this series, while dwarves and elves have seperate starting areas for each. What is inside of those areas is random but the scenario and location will be the same.

Alchemist escorts actually have a really, really good talent for bulwarks and fighterly types - you skipped over it when looking at the list. "Imbue Item" lets you take those gems you find lying around and imbue any chest armor - whether robe or full plate - the type of gem changes the type of bonus. So, like. if you imbue an onyx you'll gain +2 to all stats, if you imbue a quartz you'll get 4% resistance to all damage. It's a really awesome spell.

If you actually don't want to die to things, don't attack so quickly and keep using your infusions constantly... You know, in case you WANT to have this character for more then three episodes.

@Zyuta It's a very typical progression for me in roguelikes. The longer a character lasts the less patient I am with combat and eventually SPLAT.

I'm learning as I go. I think we'll all be fine.
