i have a few fanbrushes but when i dipp it in paint the bristles stick to each other i think it is because the bristles are syntetic ... what are your brstles made of?
i just uploaded a video of an oil painting that took me 5 months to finish.
i would like to get some feedback on it. so if everyone that reads this could check it out and let me know what you think it would help me out! the video is called -- monumental oil painting- from start to finish. thanks everyone!
i'm new to painting and have so far just painted a base layer, blue sky and green for the lower half, on here im going to paint trees and some barn type buildings in the back-mid ground, and a horse and a large tree in the forground. however i feel my sky blue is far too saturated, is there anyway to make it look much paler without painting a lighter shade over the whle thing?
if it is not dry just add white or a lighter shade of blue to the blue you have. there is no other way that I know of to make it paler with out painting some type of lighter color either mixed in with it or if it is dry over it like a glaze.
love the painting. the sky gives it a little mysterious effet because u didnt really color the whole thing which makes like misty and stuff. the evergreen and the grass really stands out which u want cuz they are one of the main subjects. perfect technique for the greens. and the foreground shouldnt stand out which u did too
Excellent.. I love the painting.. It looks so easy in the video.. I have just started oil painting, and when I go to do it, it doesn't seem half as easy and doesn't look half as good.. but I guess am still learning..
So do you put oil on the canvas when you paint ? I've heard some artists do that. Do you put anything at all on the canvas before painting ?

@AicentBlaichez yes I put a base medium on it usually a thin ,very thin oil paint or linseed oil.
