The first tune you played at the Kokua for Japan, a flamenco type... what is the title? Great, great performance!

    Many mahalos,

    Rob

  • @hawaiirob

    Mahalo hawaiirob.

It was somewhat improvised. However, the main part was TOCCATTA by Johan Sebastian Bach, although I changed it quite a bit to fit the ukulele. thank u so much!

    Rob

  • mahalos! any more videos on youtube with Pava and Tahiti? I played percussion for them from '97 to '01.Last time I jammed with them was 2005.I was a little worried about Pava then.I had a bad feeling that would be the last time.I wished he could have hung in there longer. They're such beautiful guys with the true aloha spirit. I have so many memories of our late night jam sessions.

    Doyle.

  • Taimane sounds good! What brand of ukulele and string is she playing? Any CDs out? Love to get her autograph.

  • @hoorano

    Both Kamaka and KoAloha ukuleles.

    Savarez strings.

    Yes, cds available. taimane.com

    thank u so much!!

  • Legit. I do a little Street Performing too. It's amazing what you can learn by just practicing...Next I've going to create a Peruvian Pan Flute Band...and a Mariachi

  • @Emanmc2

    Sounds fun!

  • street performing the purest form of music? Uh I'd say it's just as "pure" as any other live performance... Anyway, awesome cover, it's cool to hear a middle eastern song on a ukelele.

  • @superlou1s

On the street the audience is moving. IF, they stop, they are within a couple of feet of you. No acoustics. Plenty background noise and distractions. I think it is raw, difficult atmosphere and just pure. But ur right as far as all live performances being real and pure in their own way.

  • E X C E L E N T E CONGRATULATIONS LADY.

  • @mozarth001

    Thanks man.

  • Is that a guitar with 4 strings tuned like a Ukelele?

    Nicely done, BTW.

  • @KanzlerM

No it is a 8 string ukulele using only 6 strings.

    Tenor ukulele.

  • Marry me.

  • What kind of strings are you using with that thumb pick?

  • @lowroller21

They are Savarez classical guitar strings, wound, pink card.

  • Awesome!! you're very talented. All the best to you and your music. Mahalo.

  • @robdeblou

mahalo to you. Thanks for taking the time to write.

  • Hi,Very nice version!

    You are great!

  • Thank you very much. This is actually an old video. I was 15 at the time. I turn 21 today!!

  • bello bello bellissimo, quando vieni in Italia?

  • Gracias, thank you, mahalo, fa'afetai tele

  • This is VERY cool. What amp?

    Thanks

  • Mahalo.

Actually this is about 2+ years ago playing on the street in Waikiki. My dad bought a little battery powered Microcube for portable sound. It works fine for street performing.

  • I wish YouTube would make a feature where you can click "repeat" for a video and have it play over and over again.

  • oh my, you are good. I love this type of music. Music to my hears. The quality of this video is great as well. You sell any music online or cd's etc?

  • Thank you. Glad you like it. I like the oldie goldies, too.

  • damn you are hot! and badd ass!!!

  • Mahalo for your support.

    Have a safe 2010.

  • hearts ... lovely playing :)

  • Comment removed

  • I have watched all of your videos that are posted on YouTube and I keep coming back to this one. I feel this one showcases your talent so well. It sounds so great and spontaneous. Do you still include this melody in your performances ? This is the one that I keep posting to Facebook for all of my old Jazz Band classmates from high school to listen to. It makes me wish I would have learned to play ukulele instead of guitar.

  • Thank u very much.

This is a very old video. I think I was 15 at the time. Yes, I still play Misserlou in my performances.

    mahalo

  • If you ever want a music video let me know...I love your playing!!!!

  • I would love a music video.

  • You are very welcome, damn girl can you shred! I watched this again and you are blistering the fret board.....LOL

    Marry me!!!

  • Thank you very much. Proud to be Samoan/ Haole

  • WOW! You are THE Tiki Tornado!

  • Thank you!

  • Anyone what this piece of music is called?

  • It is a medley of Misserlou and Pipeline, .......sometimes Wipeout and Hawaii 5-0 is tossed in.

  • This is where it all started. Playing on the streets of Waikiki with my friends at age 13. It is the funnest and purest form of music and helped me to develop skills and comfort only the street can teach.

  • nice!

  • I love street performing!

  • Yes, street performing in many ways is the purest form of entertainment. I love it too. And, it probably helped me more than just about anything, except for Don Ho, to develop my music.

    aloha,

    Taimane

  • Yay ::--))

  • cool!

  • thats freaking awesome

  • Mahalo boo.

    Sorry I missed your comment.

  • she's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo HOT

  • yep, nothing's hotter than 8 strings :P

    ^^

  • awsome!!!

  • Anyone know what brand of uke she uses? Not like that will help me come anywhere near her mastery, of course!

  • its a custome kamaka

  • Kamaka has made two custom ukuleles for Taimane. They are incredible.

  • it's totallly craze how is she doing that

  • So sorry for such a late reply. But most of all thank you!

  • great, excellent and very beautiful. thanks ^^

  • I love the way she never missed a lick while answering some dumb ass questions from a fucktard passerby.

  • wow she's really good i wish i could play a uke

  • Hey, is she single? I play guitar/ mandolin/ ukelele/ drums/ keyboards/ and sing like Elvis! Taimane, write to me! Arty

  • I thought a Uk only had 4 strings vs 8.

  • Ukuleles come in 4,5,6, and 8 strings. This one is actually an 8 stringer with two strings removed to make it a 6 stringer, tenor.

  • OMG! you put me to shame. I want to play like you! been playing since 7. :o

  • Beautiful and Wild

  • That's crazy

  • is that a Kamaka?

  • you are sick! Aloha and Mahalo the hell to you!

  • OMG i would love to see You zone on that and a lot more...U go GIRL Your smoken'!!!

    keep it real 3; )

  • Haha. I love the Pipeline cover. The Ventures are great. Amazing job.

  • You are incedible Taimane , just awsome Tiko tiko is a great tune ,

  • double stringed Uke ??? rare model ??

  • Not that rare. Ukes come in 4, 5, 6, and 8 strings. Six is common. This happens to be an 8 stringer w/ two strings removed to create a custom feel.

  • i love that song . hey why are you playing on such a small guitar? anyway another awesome vid. keep on rocking

  • ...try ukelele.

  • Whoa is she busking? I would travel all the way from nz to hear that and put some bucks in the hat too.Tumeke to takaro o te ukelele. One day gonna be there.

  • wow that was very fast and a very original and different version of that song I ever heard.

are those nylon strings on there ?

check out my songs , i will add you right away

    are we married yet !!!!

  • No other finer talent in Hawaii can hold candle next to you.

A real gift...talent..and wholesomeness. Great song too.

  • how did you do that?

  • staying pure to form -- that seems like some hawaian ideal -- so keep playing on the street -- but don't ever pass on the bigger stage and audience -- so good

  • we should duet sometimes. i used to perform for Don Ho before he died but yea. i dont got a camra so i cant make any videos >_<

  • You need to be on the David Letterman show. You got to be exsposed to the world too awesome a very rare unique talet it's like catagory of the best of the best. Not only she's awesome in playing her uke but pretty too an all in one package.

  • That ukulele sounds great, and she's not half bad at playing it.

  • understatement much?

  • It is a custom made tenor ukulele, 6 stringer.

The ukulele is one of the most versatile instruments in the world depending on how it is strung and how it is played.

  • No, it's an 8-string instrument ;). Made by Kamaka.

  • It's a Ukulele

  • Stevie would be proud..that was great!!
