  • i have always thought someone stole the way my family is and made it into a movie. with the exception of the drinking and smoking my dad is 100% the "old man", i actually started called dad old man because of this movie, my mom the same on here except my mom isn't cheerful all the time, and if my little brother was like Randy i probably would have smothered him in his sleep...lol, thank you for posting this classic and sadly forgotten movie.

  • Is it just me or are does this film have the appearance of taking place in the fifties? Because if Ralph is 14 shouldn't it be 1935? Still a great film, the old man always reminds me of my old man. Especially in this film with him drinking beer and oh the cigarettes.

  • I consistently reference this movie, and NOBODY knows what I'm talking about (But everybody knows about A Christmas Story). Guess I was a super spoiled kid because my parents paid for Disney channel back when it was worth watching... I looked for this on Amazon and the cheapest thing I found was a USED VHS for $17.99!!! fortunately my folks still have a recorded from TV copy somewhere in the garage. "FUUUUUUUUUZZZHEAD!!!"

  • wow...i remember watching this and Great American Fourth of July as a kid....that along with Mr. Boogedy and Bride of Boogedy and Little Monsters....they need to re-release some of these older movies....everything is killing and violence or vampires anymore

  • My summer chilhood movie.

  • I love this movie. When are they going to restore this and put this on DVD? It's one of those that should of been released on DVD already.

  • Dayyummm, I was born in 84 n this was part of my childhood, was this on Disney Channel? I dont remember where I first watched it but this movie is a classic I'll always remember!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. i loved this movie as a kid. My parents and I would watch it every summer. The old VHS tape that we recorded this on has long since given up the ghost, so this was a very awesome find. Thanks so much. :D

  • YES! i hope they release this on DVD at some point.

I want a peeaaanuttbutter and Jelly SAAAAANNNNdwich.

  • Old Radar Nose! Our dog Taffy certainly had one of those, and with 5 kids in the family, God only knows she got enough scraps "dropped," in her direction. My dad was a bit like The Old Man, in that his morning didn't really start until his first cup of coffee. I didn't take up coffee until I was 28, then became a 10 cup a day man when I had a job in Minnesota. You can't defrost yourself in that state without at least 2 cups at breakfast. Good place to be a newlywed though.

  • Oh Wow! My daughter and I love this movie! Now I can show it to my granddaughters! Best parts......"If as you say this is Fooze-head...." and "Did anybody remember to bring the bath mat?" :)

  • FIN ALLY!!!!!!!!

  • oh my gosh, i can't believe someone finally put this up on youtube!! Thank you so much :D

Now all they need to do is put this out on DVD!

  • I remember this one. It's I think number 3 in the series of movies that started with A Christmas Story. Ralphie gets his first job and looses it just before the family trip. Hillarious!

  • @gentlemenjocard

Could you please name the other one or ones in the series?

  • @xHaZErDx I'm afraid I don't know the name of the second movie, but, you could try and look up the Jean Shepherd novels the movies are based on. Other than that, I don't know; sorry.

  • @gentlemenjocard Hey pal, the movie you are looking for is HILLARIOUSLY FUNNY. starring Mary steenburgen, Charles Grodin and the kid from Home alone's lil brother. The name is 'MY SUMMER STORY' You can get it online if you look. There is a lot of interaction between the family and the accursed BUMPASSES..this movie is the third of the series, ollie hopnoodle is the third of 3 Hope you like em....good luck and enjoy. These movies are on my top ten list!!!

  • @graybeard19 Thank you so much. Finnaly, I will have all three; step1) collect all Jean Shephard films, step2).... step3) rule the world!!! Bwah ha ha ha ha!!!

  • @xHaZErDx Great American Fourth of July and then A Christmas Story

  • @xHaZErDx

not sure if you found out yet but i think you may be talking about "it runs in the family" its a prequel to a christmas story

  • @rufiani6969 "It runs in the family" is NOT a PREQUEL. It's actually a SEQUEL. Watch the opening. He mentions the christmas before that summer. With the bb gun and the lamp.

  • Been looking for this, thanks for posting!
