Man when I went in back 8 years ago, at good ol Fort Benning our running track was dirt. Let me tell you its best to run on dirt first because that helps build up your leg muscles and your stamina. When its time to do your PT test, the running portion is done on a hard ball road which made running a hell of lot more easier. So run on dirt first then run on hard ball roads.
Anyone know if the Guard has issued a workout plan for incoming recruits, say a 9-week program to condition themselves? I'm sure that be helpful to some interested in joining the military.
I remember PT in Basic. This was MANY moons ago, and I couldn't even make it around the track once without stopping, cause even though I walked or biked 30 miles a day, it wasn't running. By the 3rd week of BCT, I was maxing my run thanks to my Drill Sergeants, and I wouldn't trade my time in basic for anything!!! I'll never forget my drill that helped me she was at the barracks the first day I completed the run without stopping, and when I went to tell her and share my joy, she dropped me!!
CSM Linda Freno was in charge of the unit I was assigned to in BCT. She came in once every two weeks to "talk" and make sure we were all doing okay. She was awesome and enjoyed her company.
