Personally being a total guitar monkey, its pretty apparent joels tone comes from the caparisons which are made of hard maple, thats why his lows are so deep and tight (lol) and why is cleans are so bright and clear. These guys really know which brands to endorse *applaud*

I havent seen one of those since I worked at guitar center 7 years ago. And even then they were trying to get rid of them and phase them out. Could never figure out why though....guitar has a brutal sound and the playing action is smoother than anything else.

@AJones506 Line 6 amps aren't that great of amps. They're good but not great. Look into some all tube amps for some awsome METAL tones. A mesa dual rec, peavey 5150, and if you got the cash maybe a Framus cobra or Splawn. You're right about the Emg's though, they use 85's in the bridge. =D

I think they boost the amps with a overdrive pedal, maybe a Maxon od or an Ibanez tube screamer. Hope this helps!

They do not downpick much on this song, only for the slowed down riffs. Watch their hands in the beginning, it's alternate picking at full speed. This song is too fast to be played all downstrokes. I've been playing for almost 16 years and I couldn't even downpick that at full speed. This song's about finding the groove and never stop the constant alternate picking throughout the main riff.

Dude, All that Line 6 does when they created the "Killswitch Engage Tone" is recreate the tone as best the can, given what they have to work with. That amp's not going to put out the SAME tone as they use. Try using Mesa Boogie Dual or Triple Rectifiers or maybe Peavey 5150's.

Actually, from what i understand with the new line 6 range (valve versions designed by Bogner) they actually sent amps out to the artists to dial in some tones, so the actual tones on the amp have been dialed in by either Adam and/or Joel (however, may not be the same tone as they create on records obviously as after all it is an amp under 500 quid). But i agree with the 5150 comment as from the videos i have seen on youtube of covers people have gotten a pretty similar tone out of it.
