  • That "Walk this way" snare was wierdly heavy and metallic for a DMX... did you put some sort of effect on it?

  • this is the essential drum machine for the urban generation. i grew up in brooklyn, break dancing to most of these songs. most of us didn't realize it wasn't real drums. amazing piece of equipment! thank you for immortalizing the true hip hop/rap music genre.

  • I listened to your Linn Drum stuff first, but your Oberheim DMX Oldschool Hip Hop Beats was pretty good. The Show, Sucker M.C.s , One for the Trouble were dead on. Although on the original Sucker M.C.s sometimes there was a crash on the first note of the beat. I think you missed that. Rockit was a good reproduction too, but I think Herbie Hancock's may have been a little faster, or at least busier. Overall excellent and entertaining, though.

  • excitinggggggg, one for the treble !

  • Sucker MC at 4.05 is spot on man, very good!

  • The good ol' days! Amazing video, mate :)

I really miss this quality of music nowadays :D

  • great demos, [cause i dig ol hiphop

    and it sounds clear ol skool in my ears [hey harlem night yor on synth forum ???}

  • yes I am r-ond, thanks for the compliment :-)

  • DOPE !!!!!!!

  • but wait, all the drums i hear are from the oberheim dmx???????? the snare on the oberheim when i hear samples doesnt sound like its used in 'the show' how come you get the oberheim snare to sound like doug e freshes'? please enlighten me.

  • @LemonAndYoghurt // This wasn't hard, just using some EQ and reverb in the ESX

  • @LemonAndYoghurt you gotta tune/pitch the snare up some to get it tight/snappy like that, then add reverb and some eq is needed

  • whre my kangol at ?

  • yo, this is great man! will you share what Juno settings you are using on that first intro riff at 0:10 ?

  • @jefferyklassen // if you assign the lfo to pwm and add the other waveforms, you're close to that supersaw sound. Play it without the juno chorus, just add a lot of reverb :-)

  • enjoyed this... nice 1

  • 1 word m8 class old school number 1

  • I luv it!!! 80's music gives you a feeling that modern music just can't touch.....

Just wondering what type of reverb you used for the sucker mc's drum track? (sounds very authentic!).

    Peace & Luv.........

  • this is so under rated , nice job !

5/5 should be more than 11 ratings

  • this is so my youth ! Pure Hip Hop ! Thanks for posting, you´re very skilled. Can you play all the notes by ear without notes ??

  • Yes my friend, I always do.. To me that's much easier than reading :-)

  • Is there a way to learn this ?? Or is it because you´re a Supermen ? :)

  • Excellent!!

  • love it nicely done homeboy,

  • You guys are brilliant!

  • This was a joy to watch. You nailed so many of my faves :)

  • Excellent video... Your finest yet.

The scratching technique on the ribbon controller is excellent.

Let me know when you do a 909 video... ;)

  • Excellent.......very nice

  • impressive ! Do you ever thought how your beats will sound with an mpc ? I dont know why, but can it be the ESX sounds somewhat fatter ?

  • The ESX has a vacuum tube, so that will affect the sound, which might be why you say it sounds fatter. But it could be a few things really.
