I agree! Once you hear a E6 song twice...that fucker's in your head for good! And it moves you makes you sing aloud! What other music can do that for you these days? E6 needs more radio play! More people need to be moved!
Everyone, tell everyone you know about this band. Spread the word in as many ways and as many times as possible. The rest of humanity needs to hear this gospel of dick, for it is the thing that may unite and save humanity.
I do agree with alot of people I wish that Electric Six was more known with people because they truly are a pleasure to listen to...
People go on saying oh they are a shit band there not
IMO You get musicians who write and sing about politicians, religion, hatred, love where as these guys they talk literal BOLLOCKS! and make no sense at all
I fucking love it it is something unique and believethey are an underated band
Of course. 4 times, my man. It'll be 5 come this October. I'm planning on purchasing the Zodiac vinyl LP AND the exclusive tour only Jam It in the Hole 7". Can't wait.
God Dam it, what is it that makes Electric Six's songs so addicting? Is it their great music, is it there sillyness, is it Dick Valentine's voice, is it his genitailia, WHAT IS IT!?
what are the vids at 0:44 and the pig masked dudes on the beach from? I'm assuming pig masks are from the Evil Cowards, but I've never actually heard anything from it.
Also, after seeing them twice on the last tour, I am amazed by the amount of research Dick must put into his stage performances. I mean, the guy came to Saskatoon and Edmonton and knew which cities to make fun of and what references would play in each market, and he did it like he had lived there all his life.
I hope Zodiac turns out to be their "breakout" album. The album where they get a bit more exposure. I'm not talking about being played on MTV. I just wish more people knew about these guys. They're, IMHO, the best pound-for-pound rock band in America today.
@iamyourgranddaddy Its not going to be. The public isn't smart enough and doesn't have taste anymore. If songs like "Down At McDonelzzz", "Your Heat is Rising" and "Body Shot" didn't bring them success nothing from this record will. Not saying its not as good because it sounds like it might be even BETTER than Exterminate, Flashy or KILL, but none of the songs have that same accessibility or catchiness. Its more experimental E6.
I've said this a million times beofre and I'm sure I'll say it again but...I cannot understand why E6 isn't more well-known. They have all the elements of a great rock band. The lame public doesn't CRAVE crap music.....they crave what's familiar. If a brave DJ decided to play E6 like crazy in a big city, they would blow up. Again....I'm not saying that I want E6 to go "mainstream". I just want them to get widespread respect WITH creative integrity. Kinda like Radiohead.
@iamyourgranddaddy You're my friend now. Whenever I defend E6 to the extent u are most people bash me and say they are a one note novelty band that haven't released a good record since Fire, when IMO Fire is their LEAST amazing record.
I used to just "like" FIRE but it's grown on me over time. I appreciate it for what it is---a solid party album and impressive debut. What's your favorite album? I always switch between Senor Smoke, Switzerland, I Shall Exterminate, and Flashy. Like one day, I'll listen to I Shall Exterminate and think "this is their masterpiece"...and then another day I'll listen to Flashy and think "no....this is their best masterpiece!" I love KILL but it's gonna take time to sink in.
It's funny that you said Senor Smoke used to be your favorite because I listened to SS from beginning to end yesterday before I read your reply. What a huge leap from FIRE. It's the complete opposite of a sophomore slump. If some of those songs were played on the radio today, E6 would blow up overnight. They'd be the new "IT" band. Not sure that's what Dick wants, though. That's why I always call E6 "the best band you've never heard of".
Of course. 4 times, my man. It'll be 5 come this October. I'm planning on purchasing the Zodiac vinyl LP AND the exclusive tour only Jam It in the Hole 7". Can't wait.
It's been 3 for me so far (the last 3 tours..'07, '08, '09). Going to see them in a couple weeks. Funny story....me and about 10 other people got drunk with Dick. It was on the Flashy tour. After one of the shows, me and my girlfriend were hanging out with some other E6 fans at the bar (the venue was technically a nightclub). We were just standing around talking and out of nowhere...Dick was standing there. We bought him a couple beers and hung out for a little while. Cool guy
@iamyourgranddaddy Haha thats badass. I envy you. I uh, I took a more embarrassing route. I was in the facilities inside the stall doing my bizness and I hear a familiar voice talking to some other guy in the bathroom. So I look down and sure enough under the stall I see Dicks brown loafers spread out at the urinal right next to the stall. So I finish up and go wash my hands and I ALMOST walk out without saying anything, but I had to. I held up my recently purchased KILL cd and said "Love the
@iamyourgranddaddy new album man" while looking up at it as i was holding it like some geeky fanboy dork. Of course he smiled and was very nice "Thank you! Yeah we had a lot of fun making it". And then we walked out. Later he signed my CD but the bathroom thing wasn't mentioned lol. Also....he, umm, he didn't wash his hands :D
@CodyT3212 I met him in the bathroom on the kill tour. He was washing his hands next to me, And I asked him for an autograph, but had nothing he could sign. I ended up giving him dollar bill, which he signed "DV" and drew a heart around the letters. He talked to me for a bit, and then left. He went on stage a few hours later and played an amazing show.
I think it's awesome that 2 random E6 fans have stories about meeting DV. It just shows how accessible they are to their fans. From my experience, most musicians/rock stars have an invisible wall up between them and their fans. They *may* sign something or say "hi" but they feel totally uncomfortable going any further than that. If you say anything more than a sentence or two, they recoil. DV is the complete opposite of that. He even wanted us to call him Tyler.
@iamyourgranddaddy I totally agree, however, I think Kill would have been a more likely breakout album since it was fairly straight-up rock. This one sounds like it has a bit more of the E6 quirk-factor, making it a harder sell. Selfishly, I don't mind them being a bit of a secret, just as long as they are making a living.
@iamyourgranddaddy I know exactly what you mean. Whenever anyone asks about my favourite band, they've got no idea who the Electric Six are, until I mention Gaybar or Danger! High Voltage. Both great songs but nowhere near the best, it's a shame they're the only ones most people know about
No shit. The only time they get played in Columbus is when they have a show that night. After that it's like nobody has heard of them till they come through again.
This is a perfect compilation of their videos that actually matched up with this new single. I think you've made a PERFECT introduction to E6 for people who aren't aware of their amazing existence.
