It seems to me (I'm an American, BTW) that a middle ground could exist between the two points of view. Note: "could." Might not be easy to find.
But, I don't know if that would be a good thing. One of the few things that scares me more than politicians who don't agree are politicians who do agree. Because that's when they've discovered a new way to profit from their authoritative positions.
I live in the Netherlands, and it is practically impossible not to have a coalition government in our system. We've become experts at half-hearted compromises.
Thank you for explaining it. I'm American and super embarrassed that I'm ten years older and way below you education wise. Thank you public education.
so im pretty sure i would never live in the same room with a emo douch that used myspace and if they tackled me i would beat the living crap out of them
Oh goodness. I'm from Belgium. I'm not going to finish watching this video, because this is our 218th day without a government and I'll be in the "no government, no great country" march this weekend.
lmao idk about everyone else, but i liked the metaphor. i pictured the cunt roommate being santa, because i hate santa.....and well he's a cunt; a non-existent cunt :)
haha i love the way you made this sound :) btw, what do you want to have as a future career? anyways i have commented on every video in the past 5 days :)
Yes, we poor, ignorant Americans (took three times just to spell American, by the way) will be lost. But yes, thank you for noticing! See, I recently learned I do have light, silvery eye shadow that matches my nail polish!...uh yeah, anywho...speaking of cunts, I just remembered that my guyfriend's face may have been the reddest I'd ever seen it! And yes, that did make sense...though my brain may have sploded in the process of listening...
lols ahoy ! excellent metaphor whatever the time of day :)
Though to be fair i would say that previous coalitions in the Scottish governement were quite successful ie Scottish labour Scottish lib dems, SNP and the greens.
Then again they aren't at opposite ends of the political spectrum. And dint involve Tories, those myspace using bastards.
Myspace sucks, I like facebook way better. I love to see you be a bit more like nat on comunity channel and act as diferent people, it would be really cool :P
so remember a crappy collab channel that fell through after a few weeks likeee two years ago? well i was in it, and i'm like 99% sure you were too. and i just randomly came across your channel. you have lots of subscribers now. you successful youtuber, you. :)
To honest, if Cameron and Clegg acted like this I would actually be happier. Cos right now their relationship isn't so much arguing roommates as the guy who owns the room and does whatever the hell he wants with it and his little puppy who follows him in everything.
its more like having many roomates, i could never understand how parlamentry government could work with so many different parties, two party presidential system is way better. The Republic goverment lot better
It's a shame the "compromise" thing isn't what actually happened. What actually happened was David Cameron said "I think this is a good idea" and Nick Clegg, still licking Cameron's ass clean, said "Yeah, I know I promised to do exactly the opposite, but I agree David. You're so cool" while outside it's gone back to the days of punk rock with protests and lock ins and what-have-you.
I'm from Australia, and we also have a co-whatchamacallit government, so everything has to be agreed on by both parties, or the smaller parties have to take sides. I personally like this kind of system better, as it means people have to agree, instead of one party saying "Fuck you, we're going to do it anyway, who cares what you think?" :)
@Mixedia Yh, Nick Clegg just tend to be his little puppy-maid that follows him around and cleans up his shit for him because he's too busy making cuts to the NHS and Police Force to fund his private photographer taking pictures of his big, shiny forehead :D lol xx
@DimzzyA Cameron: "Yes we know the economy is in crisis, but rather than try and help it back on it's feet, we're going to RAISE the unemployment number by cutting jobs and raising tuition fees. But wtf do I care? I'm David Cameron and I want another house... and a new photographer... because my other one isn't getting me into the 'world sexiest man' charts yet. It'll be expensive, but DAMN I'll look hott ;)" Clegg: "Good idea mr Cameron"
I would never trade our American form of govt for what you have across the pond. But, there's one thing you ought to consider. Most of the time, govt not being able to act is a good thing. Govt tends to screw up everything it touches.
Nonetheless, we can be the best of ourselves. Dont ever try to expect too much from the government. Frankly, they are just the same as the employees working around the clock to get some money to afford the living, their wealth is much more though.
However, please be reminded that none of the governments in the world can have every new policy passed smoothly, except that it is a dictationship. I guess the most you can look forward to is the comparatively more effective comprised ways they came up with to boost your economy. We cannot choose our governments and there are not many political talents.
It may surprise you how many people actually finished watching your "boring" vid. haha so I suppose it wasnt boring. I got the facespace thing before you made it up in the video haha:P Im neither from England nor America, but I do know the coalition govenment that your having and I have to say, it is ridiculous.
Dude, I hate social and everything that has ever been related to social, especially government, but you make it sound... interesting... and understandable.
coalitions work throughout the EU, it's only in the UK n such that we have this obsesson with majority governments.
but liked the roomate thing. the roommate is there because his parents are paying the rent. he promised he wont take heroin and rape people, so they paid, but he joins in with the first guy's drugs and rape
and the slightly simple, but generally good-intentinoed guys across the hall have to put up with it all.
thank god I have a lovely korean roommate. and thank god i live in germany where we have a lot more than just 2 different parties and where coalition gov actually works.. most of the time..^^
Surprisingly that made complete and total sense of it all. I can see clearly now, the rain has gone. I can see all obstacles in my way. Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind. It's going to be a bright, yes bright sunshiny day. Goofla!
I take it you are pretty critical of the coalition then? xD
Great metaphor, well delivered, funny. Just generally good stuff. Gratz.
I'm honestly not sure what my opinion on the coalition is. I have become so used to government failing abysmally at whatever it tries to do that I think it's literally at the point where it cannot possibly get any worse. Voting has basically become a case of trying to choose the party that does the least damage. *sigh*
Unfortunately I'm still taking a government class so I knew what a coalition government was before you opened your mouth. Good thing I kept watching; it's funny when you fight with yourself.
I think that all economics/political classes should be taught like this. Because, let's face it, politics suck and no one is ever interested enough to pay attention or learn anything about it, but I for one would pay attention if someone took a page from your book.
Your delivery and quick precise speech are impressive talents! I greatly enjoy all your videos. Thanks for the time you spend both planning and making them!
I actually believe that there should be two sides, because one firm opinion usually isn't right on everything, but if there is no one to question it, that opinion will dominate. Different opinions should join to form a more adaquate solution that suits all.
We almost had a coalition government in Australia but luckily shit got sorted out and we ended up with the good ol' one party system. I completely agree with you, having two parties makes them redundant because they can't do anything.
I did not expect this I am impressed. Obviously I am older than 20 years old. I would like to make a point to your point. Different parties are designed to be a representation of a portion of the population. So although I agree with you about the frustrating nature of compromise, what would be the alternative? If that dick head roomate just happened to represent his family and you represented yours there is no way that you could lawfully deny your roomate his opinion.
sounds like shit. problem is (I live in the united states) a two party government can lead to standstills where nothing gets done, especially with a president as weak as obama
Ha!You forgot twitter!
